ummmm....this place was OK. I tried really hard to like this place, the atmosphere was really chic and the selection on the menu was huge. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night at 7:00PM and we were only 1 of 3 tables in the entire restaurant. I guess that should have been an indication of things to come. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, papaya salad, chicken pad thai and the orange chicken based on a fellow yelper' s recommendation. The pad thai was sweet, and I mean it tasted like sugar. I wasn't sure if it is always like this or if the cook refilled the sugar into the salt container that evening. The pineapple fried rice was decent, not much pineapple though, and it probably would have tasted a heck of a lot better if they had used fresh pineapple instead of ones that come from the can. The papaya salad was probably the best dish, the seasoning made it just right, also the added ingredient of green beans was very unique and good. The orange chicken was also quite good, some pieces were fried a little too hard which made it kind of chewy but the flavoring was really good, a little sweet and tangy but not overwhelming. The total for the 4 dishes and 2 thai iced teas came to $50 dollars including tax but before tip. I thought this was pretty reasonable for the amount of food that we ordered between the three of us. read more

I came in this past week because I was craving Asian and I wanted some kind of soup, yet, I also wanted to try their som tom special ( Kao Niao Muh Yang Som To). I ended up getting their Kao Soi Gai, which in my culture, we also make Kao Soi. It had a twist, which they made it with yellow curry instead of a more soup-like broth. It had rice noodles, and topped with the hard crispy chow mein noodles. I thought the crispy noodles were to die for. Mmm. But overall, the dish was good, but so hard to eat as a soup when it's really curry. I would not order it next time, because I'd want my curry separate from noodles. I also had to try the Kao Niao Muh Yang Som To since I base my likeness of a Thai restaurant on how they make their pad kee mao, pad see eww, or som tom! and what do you know? It wasn't good. I'm so sad. Unfortunately, their som tom wasn't that great. They didn't use any of the main ingredients that you would typically use in authentic som tom. I do like the restaurant, but this would have to be rated as a 1/5, because not only did it not have flavor, they used this more Vietnamese vinegar sauce, and it was NOT even spicy nor did it have that fragrant fish sauce or crab paste... etc. It was very disappointing. As much as i liked my experience i take my papaya salad very seriously. Oh, but the pork skrewers were good though. The hostesses: not entirely rude but not exactly friendly either. I frequent here often because it's right next to our office. You'd think because they see us so often, we'd be treated with friendliness, but no. Most of the waitresses are, assuming, college students with perhaps little to no service experience. I think our office has ordered everything off the menu. My favorite is the phad see yew and the orange chicken. The only real complaint I have is when we ask for a certain spice level, it's never consistent. My coworkers and I have ordered both 2 stars on random occasions and it was either extremely mild OR extremely spicy. The other dishes are just OK. The veggie dishes are usually bland and the sauces are often watery. read more

The Sen Lek is my favorite, the pork is perfect - light and flavorfull. I eat here twice a month and I've found the " authentic street food" section of the menu has the best dishes. Eating in is fast service, and take out is even quicker - like 10 minutes after I've called in. It's inexpensive, especially for good thai food in Seattle. read more

Hey, Thai Fusion. You don't have a crappy Yelp rating because Yelp is a corrupt bully. You jave a crappy rating because your wait staff is inattentive and chatting in a corner, and your food is inconsistent in quality. The posted placards you have everywhere whining about Yelp being big meanies and how we should all boycott them are ridiculous and childish. Yelp is not "bad for small businesses"--- Yelp brings small businesses business. When they deserve it. So get over it, work harder on your business model, train your damn waitresses, and relax. That said, there was a decent beer selection, the all night Sunday happy hour was fantastic, pretty good quality food, arrived staggered but pretty quickly, and personally I enjoyed the dim lighting. We got fresh rolls, crispy rolls, bacon wrapped shrimp, the mieng khum salad, calamari, and chicken satay skewers. Yes. We pigged out, and I'm pretty sure nothing was more than $5. The fresh rolls were ok; tofu and mostly lettuce. The crispy rolls were a big hit, but the bacon wrapped shrimp were rich and weirdly cooked with straight peanut butter as a sauce. Not peanut sauce. Peanut. Butter. The chicken satay, though, was delicious and the salad was my absolute favorite (though it needed a little extra dressing in my opinion). The calamari was a hit, too, though, so all in all the food was a win. I live two blocks away and plan to drop in all the time though, with friends. I would give zero stars if I could. This was the most ridiculous food ordering adventure. I ordered tom kha with fried tofu for delivery. I have ordered Tom kha with fried tofu countless times. This is where the trouble started. I waited two hours for the food to be delivered. When I tried to ravenously chow down on my food I discovered that it was chicken. Ugh! I had to call back and was shocked that the woman, who was probably the owner, argued with me over what I ordered. She insisted that I had ordered chicken. I had to fight with her for 5 minutes to get her to make a new order. I was then informed I had to give them back the soup to the delivery man. This is where I started getting concerned. You want the soup back? Why? Are you going to re-serve it? At that point in time I was frustrated to no end. They were probably going do something to my food at that point anyway. I called back to let her know I was coming in with the soups to return (still freaked out by this) for my money back. She refused. She said she wouldn't give me my money back because she was "sure I ordered it with chicken" I gave up. I told her I don't want any soup. I hung up while she was still yelling at me on the phone. She called back. I picked up the phone with reservation. I was pretty frustrated at that time. I told her all I want is my money back and she argued some more over what I ordered until I told her I was hanging up the phone and did. I have never had such horrific customer service in my life. To sum it up: Terribly long delivery time Disturbing practices of reusing soup Arguing and screaming manager Refusing to give a refund This experience was terrible. I have been here for lunch before and had a good experience.... however the last time I was here... I ordered food via online for takeout. The time quoted was twenty minutes. I showed up 25 minutes, just so i wouldn't have to wait. Boy was I wrong. I ended up sitting there for 45 minutes waiting for my food. And what I saw and heard made me sick to my stomach. ... It became fairly clear that there were only four people working in the restaurant: two in the kitchen, one who was expediting the food coming from the kitchen, and one covering all the tables and the bar (it was obvious that she was the manager, if not the owner). There were only two groups of people sitting at the various tables in the restaurants, and numerous people in the bar. The people sitting in the restaurant had to get up to request more water. REALLY? One group of people came in and sat down at a table and ended up sitting for so long (10 min) with NO attention that they left, because they got NO service. WHAT? Then every time I heard a takeout order getting ready to go, it was someone elses... who was in the bar waiting for their takeout. so they had been waiting just as long as I had! but the WORST was listening to the interaction between the waitress/manager and the expeditor. It was very clear the expeditor was new, and the manager YELLED and RAILED on her every chance she got. until the young girl cried. it was HORRIBLE. finally after I was the ONLY person in the restaurant waiting for my takeout, and my order was finally ready, the expeditor handed to to me and apologized for the wait. You better believe I gave that manager a piece of my mind. that poor employee. I will NEVER EVER go to Thai Fusion again. Too bad, because the food was really good. I've been to Thai Fusion for happy hour and lunch and I like it! I've been able to park right out front on the weekend which is great. I've had the coconut shrimp, fresh rolls, chicken satay skewer, and pad see ew with chicken. I had the pad see ew this last time and it was good. Good flavor. I got medium as the range is mild, medium, or hot. I did get hot sauce to add more of my own flavor. The fresh rolls with peanut sauce were delicious. Decor is nice. The food was great, the drinks were pretty good, but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress took forever to take our drink orders, just as long to bring them to us, and then left before asking us if we wanted to order any food. not to mention, they weren't that busy - it was a Tuesday evening. By the time we got our orders in, our drinks were finished and she neglected to ask us if we wanted more, so one of us stopped her, asked for another, she took that order but walked away without asking the rest of us if we'd like a second drink. She dropped that drink off and fled the table. We flagged her down again so the rest of us could order and she said something along the lines of, "sorry, I'm going to go to the bathroom first." I've never had that happen anywhere before. She came back still drying her hands, and took our order. - I suppose they could have been understaffed for the few clients they had in? Maybe she was having a terrible day? Or perhaps she was new? Who knows, but we weren't that demanding and simply felt neglected. The part of the evening that really did it in for me was when we wanted to split the check 4 ways, she came back letting us know that bills could only be split three ways - after she had already charged 2 of the cards - and wanted to know which card should take the third of it. It was really frustrating that she didn't let us know before she started charging us or to think to divide the bill into 4 separate checks prior. We asked if should would split the check into 4 separate bills, but she had already charged two cards. The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars is because the quality of the food and drinks were wonderful. I've been to several Thai restaurants in the Seattle area, and this one is nothing more than mediocre. The first time I went there, I ordered a salad with the dressing on the side. They forgot to put the dressing on the side, and worse, the lettuce was SOAKED in the dressing. I can't recall the specific entree salad I ordered, but it was nothing more than some iceberg lettuce, a couple wonton crisps, a couple pieces of chicken, and dressing. That was $11, I believe. Another time I ordered the pad kee mao. It was good. But just good. Nothing to rave about. Typical and just like every other Thai place, except other places give you a side of rice. I also ordered red curry, and again, it doesn't come with rice. That's extra. My date got some other noodle dish and he asked for 5 stars of spicyness, emphasizing to the waitress that he wanted it really, really spicy. He said, "the chef must be white. This is more like 3 stars anywhere else." Overall, the place is pretty empty (indicating lack of popularity). If you want good Thai food in Seattle, go anywhere else. The only upside to this place was the very attentive waitress. I tipped her 25%. read more

The area along Nickerson is sort of like the driving equivalent of a "flyover state". You're either on the way to Fremont or heading into downtown and there's a blur of small strip-mall type places along the side of the road. Thai Fusion is one of them. But while sitting in traffic (the bridge was up) and doubled over in hunger pain, I'd noticed Thai Fusion and decided to give it a shot. Which in retrospect, wasn't a bad decision. It's not terribly huge for a lounge, but it's more of a dining space: there's a fair number of tables with a small bar at the one end. The ambiance is slightly classy with the tried and true dark wood furniture/minimalist decoration/dim lighting atmosphere. I didn't exactly go with wild choices for dining, but had the Pad Thai with some spring roll appetizers. Each of these were good and I'd put them above average for the Fremont Thai genre. The service was fairly quick and to the point, so no issues here. Overall it's probably perfect for a nice quiet dinner or a low-key date. read more

My fiance and I went to Thai Fusion on a Monday evening to avoid our kitchen. We decided to venture away from our usual Seattle Thai favorites to try something new (literally and figuratively, it just recently opened). The atmosphere is very cool. Even though I gave Thai Fusion 2 stars, we will likely return for drinks on a night out (we'll just eat elsewhere). Very trendy, modern interior and they play great music, too. Hip, recent 311/Moby/Postal Service type music. Perfectly audible, but not obtrusive. The food was where Thai Fusion fell flat. Since it was our first time there, we got two Thai staples with which we rate every Thai place we visit: Pad Thai and Pad See Iew. Before that, we had the crab wontons. Stay away from the Wontons. I think they spread a total of one table spoon of filling amongst the 6 wontons. And it was all cream cheese, I tasted no crab. To the main entrees: the pad thai was very "moderately" flavored, an even mix of tomato paste and fish sauce, but not enough of each. It just seemed to lack flavor. No acidic bite from the tomato, no savory 'umami' from the fish sauce. The rice noodles were also a bit more al dente than I'm used to. The Pad See Iew was better, but not on par with some of the other places we visit. The beef was overcooked, but tasty. The entire plate seemed a bit dry; could have used more of the sauce. EDIT - Karen A (reviewer below) makes a great point - the food is not spicy at all. We got both our Pad Thai and Pad See Iew 2 out of 3 stars, and there was literally no spice. Equivalent 1 star at most Thai places. Overall, what grand potential. Fantastic atmosphere that really resonated with us. But the food is just blah. If your'e looking for atmosphere, experience, maybe some drinks and light eats, this is the place for you. Experience be damned, you just want darn good Thai Food: avoid Thai Fusion. read more

We went here with a groupon. Location is great. Service was pretty miserable. I think entrance was just in a weird location, because we walked in and no one seated us because no one saw us. Finally after standing for a few minutes, we walked over to the kitchen where a gal greeted us and sat us down. We ordered phad see eww, and a stirfry and springrolls. The springrolls were quite bland. The thai ice tea we ordered had a dead bug in it! so gross. The food overall was decent. not quite authentic. Atmosphere: Newer, dark, bold colored walls with black trim - cool looking light shades that looked like a cross between an umbrella and a clam shell - not your traditional thai restaurant decor - much more modern. Bar is not really separated from the rest of the restaurant - it's just at one end of the restaurant with a low wall around it. Went there on a Saturday evening around 6:30. They had a jazz group (the Gary Hammond trio) playing - sax, trumpet, & bass - created nice atmosphere, only problem was we had to shout across the table to talk. Food: Here is where I had issue, but we'll start with the good. The phad see lew noodles were pan fried and flavored just right. The beef that we ordered with it was thick, tough, and tasteless, so I'd try another meat option. The spicy thai ginger was aptly named - we got 2 star (they only have 1-3 stars) and it was SUPER spicy and SUPER gingery - I thought there was a ton of bamboo shoots in the dish until I bit into a mouthful of fresh ginger - so watch out! Was expecting a lot from the Meing Khum Salad where at other places is usually separated out into its individual ingredients and you wrap it yourself, but here it's thrown haphazardly into an unappetizing looking salad. It tasted ok - a little too limey and fish saucy for my taste - watch out if you have a sensitive stomach. Service: So-so, friendly, but not too attentive. They always seemed busy but I'm not sure with what because there was only 2 other table filled when we first got there and only got to about 50% capacity. Thai fusion has a deceiving environment. The decor is nicely done and it looks like a moderately upscale restaurant. However, the food is sub-par and the service is terrible. The food tastes bland and I could definitely get better, cheaper food somewhere else. Lastly, the waitresses hardly pay attention to the customers and they front a poor attitude when the customer experiences dissatisfaction. Came on a Wednesday evening for dinner. Parking was easy, I was able to find parking right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant was about a third filled when I joined my party that was already there. After seating myself (no hostess at this establishment) with my party, it took about half an hour before anyone came by to offer me a menu or something to drink. I suppose it would have been faster if I waved someone down, but really, I hate to be one of those customers. I ordered the pineapple fried rice. Can't really mess that one up, right? Well, I guess it wasn't up to par with what I am used to. If we're going to heat up the mushroom, might as well cook it all the way through. None of this half cooked, half raw deal. I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt time and again, but I can no longer support them or be a customer. It is a convenient trip from work and the food is decent, but the service, management, prices and general attitude towards customer are lacking, to say the least. After countless issues of wrong orders, wait times 2-3 times longer than they indicated on the phone, and actually having to argue with a manager about a refund for a wrong order that took 30 minutes longer than the pick-up time they gave me, today was the last straw. We called in an order for pick-up of two curry's, phad ki mao, and an extra rice. The curry containers they gave us were both half empty, and contained maybe three small pieces of pork and chicken in each. For $9+ dollars, this is just stingy and tacky. In addition, they charged us for the extra rice, but did not actually give us the extra rice. My recommendation, take the extra few minutes to drive to Fremont and go some place that actually cares about their product and their customers. read more

I went for dinner and got the red curry. The curry was fantastic! I couldn't stop gushing about how creamy it was! oh my goodness it was sooo delicious! The portion size was huge too. I took some home as leftovers and heated it in the toaster oven. yum, just as delicious! Note, I ordered the curry at 3 stars (3 stars being the spiciest they offer) but it was not spicy at all. The flavors were great and all; I just missed having some spice. They also offer a choice of brown or white rice which was great! I got brown rice and it was nice and plump and not crunchy which was a plus. The pineapple lemon drop cocktail was very yummy! I do recommend it. The mood lighting was perfect. It wasn't too bright and it wasn't so dim that you were having hard time reading the menu. They definitely have lighting down pat. In addition, the atmosphere was laid back and perfect for either a date for two or a group gathering. I used to have absolutely no reason to drive that far down Nickerson street but now I do! I kind of hate it here, but I still come pretty often because it's pretty good when it's good. The biggest issue with this place is that it's wildly inconsistent with quality. Sometimes they're great, you go in, get fantastic thai food, decent service from a pretty lady and have a good time; and then other times you go in and they take your order, come back and put a steaming pile of shit in front of you and then disappear until they bring you a check. I normally won't send my food back anywhere, but I've had to a couple times here because they've fucked the order up so badly. Usually they'll get it right the second time around. Usually. The food itself is great, it's not as "thai" as other thai places, so even if you don't normally like Thai food you should still give it a shot. One issue is, the servers here don't really differentiate between one and three stars spicy. if you want some kick to your food, you have to really insist on having them make it spicy. It's kind of a shame that the quality here is so unpredictable. The place looks and feels great, and the food is good enough (on their good days) to make up for the iffy service and general incompetence. Try the Phad Thai and the Naked Garlic Shrimp, or pretty much anything else, cross your fingers and hope you're going there on a good day. Oh and don't order take out or delivery from here, they're terrible at it. For some reason the concept of putting your food in a box and bringing it to you is completely alien to these people, it's ridiculous, and from the look of some of these other reviews, I'm not the only one. read more

Due to the close proximity of our house, this has become our go to place for takeout thai. The food is not the best, but they do have a few pretty good dishes. The pumpkin curry and roasted duck noodle soup are a couple of our favorites. I'm not a big fan of the panang, which is normally one of my go to thai dishes. I have eaten at the restaurant once or twice due to the purchase of a groupon. It has a nice modern interior and the service is pretty good. It looks like they have a full bar and even a happy hour which is not typical at most thai joints. If you go into expecting a hole in the wall thai joint, it will exceed those expectations, but if you are expecting a trendy thai joint, it will probably disappoint. read more

When the waitress comes to take your order and you simply say "yes", you know you're in for a meal of epic proportions. So many good things caught our eyes, we couldn't decide. So, we didn't. Three appetizers might be two too many for two people, but there's always to go boxes. The slow roasted sesame pork was good. Maybe a little crispy for my taste, but my wife loved them. Summer rolls were good, light, and fresh. The sassy wings were wings. Good sauce, but they're just wings. Entrees were tasty. My duck and bok choy was might tasty, and it was hard to stop eating. Pad Thai was good, not clumpy like we've had other places. Best part? I went here on a date on Friday night. It's a reasonably nice space, good lighting and decent decoration. Although, it's a little commercial feeling and by 8pm there were only a few other tables eating. We ordered the crispy rolls to start, freshly deep-fried, with a nice pineapple chili sauce. For my main course, I had the Flambé Volcano Chicken -- which is supposed to be "thai fire cooked" but was seemingly a deep fried game hen. They put some alcohol on it and lit it on fire, but the fire went out before it got to me. Oh well, could have been very entertaining! While it was delicious in its deep friedness, rarely found elsewhere, and fun to eat, its seasoning could have been more bold and interesting. And it didn't really come with anything, it was just a game hen. My girlfriend had the Spicy Ginger Tofu, which actually had wide variety of nice vegetables -- not just the spinach they mentioned -- all in a nice ginger sauce. The tofu was fried. The Pad See Ew that I ordered online for take out was fresh, warm and on time. Ample parking on the street. It was tasty also. Only draw back was that compared to my favorite place, Kwanjai, the portion was TINY. It was enough for dinner but there were no leftovers. So for the price, Kwanjai is actually a better deal. This is one of my regular haunts. It's not life-changing Thai food (go to Tawon Thai in Fremont for that if you don't mind the parking hassle). But TF will do; it's consistently pretty good. A bit on the pricey side ($10 for wonton soup), but they have a huge menu with interesting fusion items. read more
