The service was spectacular. There was only one lady greeting customers, working the register and waiting tables. She was very fast and super sweet. I ordered the springrolls for an appetizer, they weren't any different from any other Thai spot, but I liked the presentation. I also ordered the Tom Kha Ga Soup and the lemon to coconut milk ratio was off, but the mushrooms and chicken were plentiful. It was good, not great, but I would consider trying it again because it's my favorite. I also ordered the beef with eggplant and white rice. I asked for spicy #2 but I think she heard me wrong because it tastes like #10 ... Unbearably HOT! The flavor was really good but I refuse to cry tears of hotness while I eat. At this point, I am a regular. I absolutely adore to come here for lunch, particularly on Wednesdays when the pre-entree soup is an amazing tom yum. I have tried several of the lunch dishes now - for example, both the red and green curry, the pad kapow, pad thai, drunken noodle, pad woonsen, etc. Everything has been very delicious, but my favorite is the curry. I usually get tofu, and the tofu is always very tender and savory. The curry sauce is rich and full of flavor. The price is also a great bargain for lunch, with 'just right' portions that I feel satisfied with. Honestly, this is some of the best Thai food I've had in town. I stopped by this location to get a chicken Pad Thai to go and boy was it tasty and unbelievably filling. First of all I want to mention that I ordered extra noodles (not knowing what to expect) and it was a $2 up charge. No big deal. The food was very tasty and I couldn't manage to finish it. This bad boy was as full as can be. The quality and taste of this Pad Thai is subpar given the number of Thai restaurants I've visited. Other places tend to have their sauce too sweet or there is too much fish sauce leaving behind a fishy taste which is rather distasteful (in my opinion) There is a perfect equilibrium with the food and it's taste. I would give this place 4 1/2 stars since it's in San Antonio. I usually gauge my Thai restaurants by two dishes, which I feel give me a good idea of the quality and authenticity of the restaurant. Me and my fiancé come here just about weekly, sometimes more. We absolutely love this place, and it's cheaper than the other places in the area also. Their Thai tea is absolutely amazing, and I love their drunken noodles. I've tried all their desserts and appetizers so far, and all are fantastic. Normally I stick with just the drunken noodles which is my favorite, but everything else I've tried has been on point. Thai rice, fried egg noodles, and some of their duck dishes... all amazing! The atmosphere is great, too. The music is relaxed, the fish look happy, and the temperature isn't usually too cold- which is something I hate about most restaurants. And the staff is amazing. When you ask their opinion on menu items, they'll actually tell you- unlike most restaurants that try to push you to buy what the business wants you to buy. Very friendly people! read more

Don't let the service deter you. Ive seen others complain about the ambience and service. It's very small, barely decorated, and INSANELY quiet if they dont have the TV on, but who cares...I'm there for the food! They usually one have one server so service is rather slow most times. I still keep coming back for their great food though. The seafood tom yum is amazing. Lots of big shrimp, mushrooms, and the perfect amount of spicy and sour. Their pad see ew is flavorful and just the right amount of sweet and savory. The dishes come out as they are ready and piping hot, which some may not like, but I enjoy, as I know my food hasn't been sitting under some heat lamp while the rest of the dishes are getting finished up. Lunch was with a friend and we shared each other's soup and entrees. Thai is my "Go To" when traveling on business, or while at home for that matter! I enjoyed a Som Tom Salad and Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) at a 5 (medium) spice level. Both were delicious and heavily portioned, I nearly finished each dish which was regrettable later...my own fault. I will say the noodles were a little overdone and the seafood consisted of shrimp and one other type I can never recall. It was missing mussels in the shell. At a $1.00 more than chicken I didn't expect much. The place was clean with very few decorations. Not a romantic place, but who cares if you want tasty food. I liked the food, but wasn't blown away. The service was so slow. We went for lunch. Good thing we weren't in a hurry. It seemed like only one person was working the front and one in the back. Getting the menu took too long, getting our drinks (just water) took too long, and getting our food took too long. Plus, we didn't get our meals at the same time. My wife was eating her Pad Thai for a good five minuted before I got my Green Curry. There was only one other table occupied by the time we ordered. I liked my Green Curry, but there wasn't anything special about it. The Pad Thai tasted nice, but it was a bit too saucy. I thought it was odd that they were serving egg drop soup with the lunch special. There was nothing wrong with it. The egg drop soup tasted like every other egg drop soup that you would have at any Chinese restaurant. I'm new to the area so maybe people are used to getting an egg roll and egg drop soup (or hot and sour) with their lunch at any Asian restaurant. When I got to the restaurant it was just bout finished the lady said she was just cutting up the Thai sausage I ordered. I ordered a dish that had chicken wings n papaya salad n Thai sausage n 1 boiled egg cut in half with lettuce the total price with tax was bout $17.00 to me the price wasn't bad for all the food it included. Now on the special message I had put to the restaurant I requested my papaya salad to be Thai hot because I'm from Thailand I like my food very spicy! The owner said she made it hot but not Thai hot she said next time to let her know I'm from Thailand n she would make it Thai hot but my thing is if a customer requests something it should be done that's the whole reasoning of special message right?? I didn't get what she said? The chicken was ok not the best I've had better elsewhere but the Thai sausage I really liked but she didn't give much of that it def wasn't enough for 2 people n the papaya salad she put a lot of it was ok too but too sweet every Thai restaurant makes theirs different though. I love this restaurant! The staff are so kind and sweet and my food was brought out to me in no time. Their food is very delicious and fresh and so flavorful. I love their pad thai and their sesame chicken. Their pad thai was so fresh and hot and their sesame chicken was very juicy but had a nice light crunch to it. Anh is the talented chef behind every delicious bite, and you can taste that she has taken time to craft every dish to win you over. I've been twice now to Thai Hot and have had the spring rolls, curry puff pastry, cheese sticks, dumplings, pad woon sen and garlic chicken. I have tasted a tofu curry dish and the vermicelli rice with chicken. Everything I have tasted is great! I recommend starting with either the cheese sticks or the curry puff pastries, and then dive right in to one of their noodle dishes. For dessert, you must have the sweet sticky rice with mango! I came in excited, and not too concerned with aesthetics. In my opinion, this isn't the side of town one comes to for a dining experience. It wasn't the best pad thai I've ever had, but it was very good. The price--excellent value. My bill was 11 bucks or so. Had I come in during the extended lunch special hours, it would have been much cheaper. Ultimately, my rating is contextual. This joint is excellent for the area.
