I had the Tom Kha Khai and the Tom Jued soups recently. I also had the crab rangoons. The food was great and so was the service. The restaurant itself was cozy as well. My friend and I enjoyed our experience. I came back the next day because I really enjoyed the soup that comes with the lunch specials. I learned the closest to that is the Tom Jued. I do prefer it more salty but they happily brought me salt and pepper and I got it just how I like it. The Tom Kha is one of my favorite soups and I got it with shrimp, it was fantastic. The crab rangoons were the best I've ever had. All of the staff were very friendly. I'll definitely be back! read more

My usual Thai spot was unexpectedly closed during normal hours on a Tuesday, so I ended up trying Yum Thai around 1 PM instead. I normally avoid this shopping center because the traffic can be a mess, but I needed to stop at a few nearby stores anyway. The first thing I noticed walking in was a chalkboard advertising free soup and a spring roll with any lunch entree. There wasn't a formal host stand greeting, but one of the waiters noticed me right away and quickly seated me at an open booth. The restaurant was fairly busy without being overly loud. After looking through the menu--and checking a few Yelp reviews while deciding--I ordered the drunken noodles at the second-highest spice level along with the gyoza. Since I was pretty hungry, I opted for the dinner portion when the waiter asked which size I wanted, assuming the soup and spring roll special still applied. The gyoza were decent but not especially memorable--very crisp on the outside, though the filling could've had a bit more texture and flavor. The drunken noodles, however, were excellent. The spice level was right where I wanted it: hot enough to make me break a sweat a little without completely overpowering the dish. When I later asked about the soup and spring roll, the waiter explained that the promotion only applied to lunch portions, not dinner-sized entrees. To his credit, he brought out a complimentary spring roll anyway to make up for the misunderstanding. It was good, though pretty standard overall. I'd definitely order the drunken noodles again. While this probably won't become my go-to Thai spot solely because of the traffic around the area, it's a solid option when I'm already nearby running errands. read more

Was in the mood for Thai food and decided to give this spot a try in the Alamo Ranch area. My husband got the fried rice and he stated it tasted good but he wished the shrimp had seasoning as it lacked flavor. I had the pad Thai and i wouldn't say it was my all time favorite pad Thai but it had flavor. Can't go wrong with pad Thai. Overall, It was good but a bit overpriced for what we got. I stopped by this place after running some errands at the Alamo Ranch shopping center. The "Lunch Special" sign at the entrance caught my eye, so I decided to give it a try. It was quite busy--maybe because of the summer break or just the location--and I had to wait a while to be seated. Even though some people were sitting alone at larger tables, I was eventually seated at a smaller one, which felt a bit cramped. I ordered the Pad Thai, but as a foodie, it didn't quite meet my expectations. Coincidentally, the person next to me also left most of their dish unfinished, so I got the impression that this might not be the place to come if you're looking for great flavor. I want to start with an extremely great compliment! They should teach almost 99% of the establishments that serve chicken satay, how to make both it and the sauce!. We loved the appetizers so much we forgot to take pics of the mains. The calamari was also great. Lightly breaded and let the actual ingredient be the star of the show. Shame on you Hugo's sushi! The staff were AMAZING! Clean place, but was way smaller inside than its outside appearance. Ok so enough of that, let's get to our entrees. We had the combination pad Thai, shrimp pad Thai, and chicken fried rice. Everything was cooked great, and our gripes may seem trivial to some. First, the limes that came with all of our food were dry. I think at one point one of us bit the lime to squeeze juice out of it. Also, even though it was cooked great, they skimped quite a bit on the proteins. I mean we don't expect a 50/50 ratio, but they were stingy with it. Overall a pleasant experience and will definitely need to revisit and try more of the menu. The midget had a strawberry boba to go. That was very very good! I have noticed a change here in the past few months. The food has been inconsistent in taste, texture, and quality. The staff remains the same, and the ambiance inside is still as pleasant as always, but the food doesn't live up to what it used to be. I usually order three dishes: Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Pad Se Ew. The Pad Thai has been flavorless at times, and last night, when my wife tried it, she said the chicken tasted off. The next morning, she felt unwell. The Thai Fried Rice I last ordered tasted like the rice was leftover and lacked flavor. Last night, the Pad Se Ew was full of a soupy mixture of juices and veggies under the noodles. I refrained from writing this earlier, hoping it was just a few off days with the cooking staff, but the consistent decline in quality has become concerning. Last night was the final disappointment. I took lots of photos. Music was great for me - well known English 80s bands. I had Thai ice tea for the first time. It's sweet and good and you get a cool psychedelic experience mixing the dark and light liquids together. My daughter really liked the taro boba. The appetizers were good; pot stickers and crab rangoons. I had the pad kee mao, and kids had soup and a beef veggie plate. Good. The waiter wrote our orders on his hand and after making a joke about how he needed paper, he revealed he can read minds so he didn't need paper. It's funny cuz I got my order wrong (chicken instead of beef) but I didn't even mention it because i don't really care. They do a good amount of take out orders. read more

We came on a rainy day and it was pretty packed but there was availability so we didn't wait long. The service was amazing, our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup, one mild and one spicy, and it was amazing. It was flavorful and the perfect soup for the weather. They provide white rice which really balances it all out. We also ordered some noodles with beef, amazing flavor as well. The crab rangoons were good as well as the veggie rolls. I had not been here in a long time. Stopped by on a Saturday night with three others. Wee were seated right away. We started with eggs rolls, summer rolls and crab rangoons. I know you can't really mess up crab Rangoons, but they were seriously perfect. They had a good amount of filling and nice crispness to them. We all ordered pad Thai. I am a chicken and said not spice on mine. I think I should have added at least a tad bit of spice cause it was definitely bland. Everyone else has different spice levels. The portion was big. I like nose cleaning hot things, not so hot that you can't taste flavor. This was mild on my scale. Also, had clear skin spring rolls. They didn't have the usual shrimp in each just veggies. Hot is their second hottest so would get Thai hot for sure if I go again. Server was attentive and refilled drink right on time. I used to think this place had at least one redeeming quality the incredible service from Alaura. No matter how mediocre the food was or how questionable the cleanliness seemed, she always made the experience enjoyable. Alaura actually cared about customers and made it a joy to be there. In a bold move they decided to fire the best thing about this place. I can only assume they prefer to keep their reputation intact as a terrible establishment.
