Favorite Thai food I have ever had! I'll drive 2 hours one way on occasions just to eat here.

We ordered takeout, because the front desk rep at Vagabond Inn recommended this place. It wasn't the best Thai food we've ever had (a place in Texas tops the cake), but it was pretty good for the price. The place was packed by locals, which said a lot. We got the pad thai with tofu, which my wife loved. I got the pineapple fried rice with chicken. It was good, not great. Add some hot sauce and it gets better. The little Spring Rolls were light crispy and delish. Super friendly service and fast, too. With how many people were waiting for a table, we were surprised that we received our take-out order within the 15 minutes promised. read more

The service was really good but the food was not very authentic. Perhaps they are from a different part of Thailand, but the drunken noodles tasted like spicy Italian spaghetti with meat sauce. We are from the Washington DC area and did not find this to be very Thai compared to what we are accustomed too. read more

Best Thai food in town. Bar none. Jesse is the most friendly, considerate, and helpful employee I've ever encountered in the restaurant industry. He always treats us like the most important guests. As an earlier reviewer noted RHS Pad Kee Mao used what seemed like Italian egg noodles instead of wide rice noodles. The sauce was like ketchup with pepper flakes in it. Service was great four star but the food just didn't measure up. read more

If you like unapologetic, bad service and average carry-out, then Thai House is the place for you. When you have a choice, consider another restaurant in HR for small-order, catering events. Hopefully this post will help future patrons or help Thai House improve their restaurant. read more

Not impressed with the food or presentation. From start to finish! The crispy rolls looked like totino's! I found large pieces of eggshells in my drunken noodles. My husband's drunken noodles were soggy and made like soup. We both love Thai and were terribly disappointed with the food. read more

Growing up in Hood River there were never Thai options in the winter when Lampoei's was closed... Until the Thai house came along! I've grown to love the Thai house as much if not more than Lampoei's. Great pad thai and pineapple curry. Service is always friendly, though there can occasionally be a wait in the summer (the food is well worth it)! read more

I've been to many restaurants in my life, none of which left a bad taste such as this. Let me ask you a question: who serves food cold? My drunken noodles were cold, the question swirling in my head was who does this?!! I had to personally ask the waiter to heat it up. Second the guy didn't give us plates. Its hard to compete with thai food after living in Thailand but this a close quality. They have thai / Lao cooks who are friendly and enjoy speaking thai with guests. After having eaten at more than 100+ Thai restaurants all over the country and having knowledge about Thai food, in my opinion, this place is a "fake" Thai eatery! Ordered 3-4 dishes and every one of them were bad starting from their so called "Thai tea". Every dish was like, someone took all the ingredients and mixed up with the spices! I have ordered takeout several times now and I have been impressed by the food taste and qualify, as well as the customer service while I was waiting. Even though I was just waiting for takeout, there was a waiter who offered me a cup of water and even refilled my glass in the very short time I had to wait! Incredibly friendly service. Sometimes when you just order water they forget about you. Not here. My water glass was never empty. I always order the tofu Pad Thai when I eat Thai food. It was very good. Extremely large portion. More than enough for two meals. They serve it with this yummy peanut sauce on the side. Tofu was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the drunken noodles always. He said these were excellent. Very large portion as well. Dipping sauce for the spring rolls seemed to be watered down but it was ok I used the chili sauce. Nice to have a yummy low key thai place with nice outdoor seating that I can walk to. Ordered the drunken noodle on two occasions (first time I thought it was a fluke) and both times the dish was the worst thing I have ever had from a so-called "Thai" restaurant. As others have said, they used what seemed like egg noodles (the same type used with beef stroganoff) instead of wide thai rice noodles and the sauce tasted like ketchup. I have had Thai food all over the country and in Thailand and this was far and away the worst EVER. read more

After a nice day in the Hood, we decided to try this Thai House place which had good reviews and scoring 4.5 on yelp. We got seated pretty quickly and the service was actually pretty good. The decor was in this old house is welcoming. However, when it came to the food we were very disappointed. We have eaten in many Thai restaurants, including in Thailand, but the food here was not as good as all the places we tried before. We ordered phad see ew noddles and yellow curry chicken which were both disappointing. The noodles were actually Chinese noodles whose taste and quality were below average. The curry was too runny, potatoes not cooked all the way, and rice too dry. Overall, the quality of the food and ingredients were questionable. The service was good, the place was interesting but the food definitely needs to improve to live up to Thai standards. read more

I could probably live off the drunken noodles here (and some may argue that I in fact do). The food is great, plentiful, fast, and cheap ($7-$9 a meal, depending on lunch or dinner). Thai House is a really great addition to Hood River, specifically 'the heights' area. Can't wait until the outdoor patio is open again for spring! My wife and I used to love this place...seriously took our family of 5 there all the time these past five years. But sadly today we had such a terrible experience we will never go back. Poor quality, extremely small portions and when I asked to send back one dish as it was nothing like what Beef Thai Basil should be, they tried to charge me for it! I had to demand a refund. We will NEVER be back... perhaps they changed ownership, but it no longer has the charm and has seriously lost their quality of food. read more

Heading from West Linn up to Walla Walla, WA my husband and I decided to stop in Hood river for lunch. We decided we wanted either Mexican Food or Thai Food, and boy am I glad we choose Thai. What a cute, quaint little spot the Thai House is. The restaurant was pretty busy and it appeared there was only one waitress, I was so impressed by her! She was very sweet, very punctual and kept a smile on her face the whole time. We ordered off the lunch menu and decided to share our 2 entrees. We ordered the Pad Thai Noodles with chicken and per the waitresses suggestion the Pumpkin Curry with beef (which is a special and not listed on the menu). Both dishes were amazing! Some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had and the pumpkin curry was a sweet coconut flavored curry (a lot like Panang Currry) with beef, broccoli, basil and fresh pumpkin. Can't wait to pass through or visit Hood River again soon so we can stop at the Thai House to eat! read more

I am sad to write this review because this used to be a favorite of ours whenever my boyfriend and I would stop in Hood River. I had the Pad Kee Mao yesterday and was really confused as to what was going on with my dish. It looked and tasted like someone dumped a jar of marinara sauce into the mix, and then there was also random pieces of romaine lettuce on the bottom. I thought at first it was the cabbage, but rather it was just wilted lettuce pieces. The flavor wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't what I remember. It was kind of like this Thai dish got confused and was trying to be Italian for the day. Also they don't use the the typical wide rice noodle that is in most Drunken Noodle dishes. My boyfriend had the Calamari Salad which was sloppily thrown together. Nothing special about it and the squid pieces were rock hard. I would give this a 5/10. The service was great, but sadly we won't be coming back. read more
