This is one of our favorite hidden gems. Great for a quick lunch (and they have fantastic lunch specials) or a group dinner, Thai Hut never disappoints. I dropped in for lunch between appointments. Seated at 12:04PM, served at 12:15PM, and out the door before 1PM (and I even paid haha). The service is prompt, friendly, and accurate. I went here with my family, for my husband's birthday. My husband and I ordered our food "hot." I can tolerate "Thai hot," but my husband can't and we were sharing. Our middle kid ordered their food, "medium," and they can eat pretty spicy food. The food came, and I was enjoying the two dishes my husband and I were sharing. They were just the right heat, for "hot." But the middle kid was complaining that theirs was too hot. I tasted what was supposed to be "medium" and it was hotter than our "hot" dishes. My husband tried it, agreed, and said, "that's too hot for me." The middle kid said" I can't eat this. It's too hot." I told the waitress about it, and she said "the medium is made with actual Thai chilies, whereas the hot is made with chili flakes." I asked, "so, it's normal for the medium to be hotter than hot?" She replied, "it depends on the dish." And then she asked if my kid wanted a different dish and wanted that one taken away. Our kid said yes and ordered another dish, with no spice but asked for it to go because we were almost done and they were sharing our "hot" food with no problem. After my husband paid, I found out they charged for the overly hot dish. I know "hot" and "medium" are somewhat subjective, but we had all agreed the "medium" dish was way hotter than the "hot." The waitress should have not charged us for the uneaten dish, or at least made it clear she would have to charge us for it. Though my food was decent, it was definitely not special, and the lobster in the pad Thai was so overcooked that it was tough. We went to Thai Hut on 1604 and Bitters for lunch today. Lunch specials are available every day of the week. Dad had the Three Flavored Fish, no spice, with steamed rice. I had the Red Curry with shrimp, medium spice, with steamed rice. Hubby had the Drunken Noodles with shrimp, medium hot spice. Looked for a spot here in San Antonio for some Thai food after a long day at Seaworld. Place was very busy, but was able to be seated very quickly. Got the Pad Woon Sen with tofu as the protein. Very delicious and filled me up. The only complaint that I would have is we tried to order the chicken patay as an appetizer but they didn't have it available which was a let down. Great weekday lunch specials that include an entrée, soup, eggroll and drink. It can get pretty packed in here, so expect a wait or come a little early! The prices are also reasonable from $10-15. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. How was the food? I thought it tasted pretty good for the basic pad thai and drunken noodles I've eaten before. This is the OG Thai restaurant that my wife and I have eaten at. A short story to the past, this was the very first Thai restaurant we ate before signing for our very first home. As you open the door, the very loud DING! kinda puts you off, but it easily lets the staff know you're there. The friendly staff collects you and seats you immediately and before you know it, she's taking your drinks order. Very fast and efficient service. As the server brings your drinks, it's on to the food order. My wife ordered her favorite: the beef laab. I ordered my favorite: the pad-se-ew. As we get our food, my wife has no issues with her dish and continues to eat away. However, for me, I do believe they either put the spices too early and burned them or cooked it for too long, as my dish a very subtle burnt taste to it. It wasn't overpowering, but it certainly wasn't pleasant, thus the minus 1 star. Service continued to be amazing, and the server kept checking on us and even making small talk as she came and went. Overall, if this wasn't so far from our new home, I would definitely come here more often! read more

Ugh, I'm so over this COVID stuff! I was in the area and had this bookmarked on Yelp. Prices were reasonable and portions too. Got takeout and ate in my car. Food was okay. Not the best, not the worst. I had veggie delight with Tofu lunch special. Good mix and balance of veggies cut small enough to eat easily (thank you!) in sauce, served with fried rice and spring roll. Sauce was okay, not plate-licking good. Rice was bland. Roll was okay. Sauce served with spring roll was tasty. I would certainly try this again if I was in the area, but I would order something different. They certainly have plenty on their menu that I would like to try. However, I wouldn't drive across town to eat here based on what I tried. we have eaten at Thai Hut over the last 4 years.. even before they moved to the Evans/Bulvarde location. The last two times we have seen the quality going down, especally today for lunch. The soup was broth with some rice and chopped veggies, The two main dishes ordered chicken cashew ,and tufu cashew had a few pieces of the added protein, six cashew, six pea pods and mostly onions. Half of the plate was fried rice, all was not hot and had to go back to heat. very disappointing and we probably will not go back again.... One of my favorite soups is Tom Kha. Normally it's a delicious, creamy, rich, comfort soup. The Tom Kha here was none of those things. It was whiter than glue and tasted like spoiled pungent cheese. The vegetables and protein were also pale and unappetizing. The soup looked like diluted skim milk, not a creamy rich coconut broth. When we complained we were told "yeah not everyone likes it," "yeah sorry, they use fish sauce for flavor." Fish sauce does not enhance the flavor of this soup.... It was a horrible flavor combination. There wasn't enough water to chug and lime to suck on to get rid of the flavor. Everyone was just like "eh, whatever." So minus stars for creating a horribly unappetizing soup and terrible customer service. At least comp the dish we couldn't enjoy. The rest of the food was alright. The vegetable rolls were ok. They lacked flavor, but they were crispy and hot. The basil fried rice was full of flavor and delightful, but definitely not a medium spice level. Unless my spice tolerance is significantly different. Unfortunately, the soup ruined the experience. There are many other options with better food and much much much better customer service to choose from. read more

After a fun-filled day at Sea World San Antonio, we all had worked up and appetite. My brother and his wingman had just graduated from BMT, and his wingman said he was really craving Thai food, something he had not been able to eat in over 8 weeks. We were able to be seated right away. My husband noted that the staff were speaking Thai to one another, which made us glad to know our choice was legit. The food was generously portioned. My husband and I ordered the Pad Thai and panang curry with tofu. The Pad Thai was delicious; noodles were a great consistency and the dish was not spicy at all. The panang was ordered without spice, but it did still have some kick to it. I was able to eat it without reaching for my water after every bite, though. There were no veggies in the curry- just the tofu, but it was still very good. Among our party was an order of the beef soup, spring rolls, red curry and beef salad. The rice was gummy and flavorless as well. I even tried to throw the chicken in my air fryer in attempt to make it crispy and somewhat edible, but that didn't work. I walked in to get a lunch order to go. It was $27.70 total. OUCH! I got 4 Cheese Rolls $4.25, sm Hot & Sour soup $5.59, and Green Curry $15.57 (Dinner portion). THERE WAS A 1 INCH BLACK HAIR IN MY CURRY. I guess they don't where hair nets when cooking. They forgot my egg roll (comes w/dinner portion) I was surprised how much it was. Amazing Thai food. I have been here several times, and each time it is consistently great, and the people have always been so nice. The must try starter is the cream cheese egg rolls. Sounds simple, and they are, but they are insanely addictive and delicious. The pad Thai is incredibly flavorful, and it is honestly the best I have probably ever had. It is not bland, but instead comes with bits of fried tofu, spices (I like mine spicy), and the noodles are always cooked perfectly and not limp and lifeless. I like getting vegetable instead of the meat, and the assortment of vegetables they put is perfect (baby corn, broccoli, snap peas,etc). I have also had their red curry - amazing and rich.
