This is one of our favorite hidden gems. Great for a quick lunch (and they have fantastic lunch specials) or a group dinner, Thai Hut never disappoints. I dropped in for lunch between appointments. Seated at 12:04PM, served at 12:15PM, and out the door before 1PM (and I even paid haha). The service is prompt, friendly, and accurate. When you look up a description of Pad Thai--"Pad Thai features a complex harmony of sweet, sour, and salty flavors combined with contrasting soft, chewy, and crunchy textures. Textural Contrasts Noodles: Soft and slightly chewy rice noodles that absorb the sauce. Bean Sprouts and Chives: Fresh, crisp crunch when added at the very end of cooking. Peanuts: Hard, nutty crunch from crushed roasted peanuts on top. Tofu and Egg: Soft, pillowy scrambled egg mixed with slightly firm, pan-fried tofu cubes." I would say it is fair & could be improved . A bit over cooked. Drier than others, texture is 99% noodle so no contrasting textures experienced at other Thai restaurants. We went to Thai Hut on 1604 and Bitters for lunch today. Lunch specials are available every day of the week. Dad had the Three Flavored Fish, no spice, with steamed rice. I had the Red Curry with shrimp, medium spice, with steamed rice. Hubby had the Drunken Noodles with shrimp, medium hot spice. All of the lunch specials come with a vegetable spring roll, soup of the day (ours was hot and sour soup), and iced tea. Great deal for great food. Stop on over for your next lunch! read more

The broth was very watery. The duck was shredded and tasted alright. The chicken in the yum woon sen was pretty dry but I enjoyed the flavors and lightness of the dressing - it had the balance of sour from lime juice, savoriness from fish sauce, sweetness from sugar and I added some chilies for spice. This is a great place for Thai food! I absolutely love the Pad Thai here... everything is very fresh and the spice is perfect. They also have some really good Chinese dishes! My BF and I love ordering take out from here. They have a convenient and easy to navigate order online option. By the time I order it and we go pick the food up (ten mins drive) it's always ready! Looked for a spot here in San Antonio for some Thai food after a long day at Seaworld. Place was very busy, but was able to be seated very quickly. Got the Pad Woon Sen with tofu as the protein. Very delicious and filled me up. The only complaint that I would have is we tried to order the chicken patay as an appetizer but they didn't have it available which was a let down. Great weekday lunch specials that include an entrée, soup, eggroll and drink. It can get pretty packed in here, so expect a wait or come a little early! The prices are also reasonable from $10-15. This is the OG Thai restaurant that my wife and I have eaten at. A short story to the past, this was the very first Thai restaurant we ate before signing for our very first home. As you open the door, the very loud DING! kinda puts you off, but it easily lets the staff know you're there. The friendly staff collects you and seats you immediately and before you know it, she's taking your drinks order. Very fast and efficient service. As the server brings your drinks, it's on to the food order. My wife ordered her favorite: the beef laab. I ordered my favorite: the pad-se-ew. As we get our food, my wife has no issues with her dish and continues to eat away. However, for me, I do believe they either put the spices too early and burned them or cooked it for too long, as my dish a very subtle burnt taste to it. It wasn't overpowering, but it certainly wasn't pleasant, thus the minus 1 star. Service continued to be amazing, and the server kept checking on us and even making small talk as she came and went. Overall, if this wasn't so far from our new home, I would definitely come here more often! read more

Visiting San Antonio and had dinner a this restaurant. The fried dumplings were very good. I had Thai stir fried rice and my son had the drunken noodles. And We did not wait long for our meals. One is the best Thai places we have been to in a long time. Our server was great always made sure we had our drinks refilled a really nice young man. we have eaten at Thai Hut over the last 4 years.. even before they moved to the Evans/Bulvarde location. The last two times we have seen the quality going down, especally today for lunch. The soup was broth with some rice and chopped veggies, The two main dishes ordered chicken cashew ,and tufu cashew had a few pieces of the added protein, six cashew, six pea pods and mostly onions. Half of the plate was fried rice, all was not hot and had to go back to heat. very disappointing and we probably will not go back again.... One of my favorite soups is Tom Kha. Normally it's a delicious, creamy, rich, comfort soup. The Tom Kha here was none of those things. It was whiter than glue and tasted like spoiled pungent cheese. The vegetables and protein were also pale and unappetizing. The soup looked like diluted skim milk, not a creamy rich coconut broth. When we complained we were told "yeah not everyone likes it," "yeah sorry, they use fish sauce for flavor." Fish sauce does not enhance the flavor of this soup.... It was a horrible flavor combination. There wasn't enough water to chug and lime to suck on to get rid of the flavor. Everyone was just like "eh, whatever." So minus stars for creating a horribly unappetizing soup and terrible customer service. At least comp the dish we couldn't enjoy. The rest of the food was alright. The vegetable rolls were ok. They lacked flavor, but they were crispy and hot. The basil fried rice was full of flavor and delightful, but definitely not a medium spice level. Unless my spice tolerance is significantly different. Unfortunately, the soup ruined the experience. There are many other options with better food and much much much better customer service to choose from. read more

I ordered to go, sesame chicken with fried rice for lunch and it was absolutely terrible. Certainly looks better than it tastes. The chicken was thickly breaded, soggy, chewy, and lacked flavor. The rice was gummy and flavorless as well. I even tried to throw the chicken in my air fryer in attempt to make it crispy and somewhat edible, but that didn't work. After a fun-filled day at Sea World San Antonio, we all had worked up and appetite. My brother and his wingman had just graduated from BMT, and his wingman said he was really craving Thai food, something he had not been able to eat in over 8 weeks. My husband and I ordered the Pad Thai and panang curry with tofu. The Pad Thai was delicious; noodles were a great consistency and the dish was not spicy at all. The panang was ordered without spice, but it did still have some kick to it. I was able to eat it without reaching for my water after every bite, though. There were no veggies in the curry- just the tofu, but it was still very good. Among our party was an order of the beef soup, spring rolls, red curry and beef salad. As previously stated, the consistency just isn't there. The yellow curry was described as having: "Potato, yellow onion, carrot..." no potatoes were found I guess they just forgot the potato? THERE WAS A 1 INCH BLACK HAIR IN MY CURRY. I guess they don't where hair nets when cooking. They forgot my egg roll (comes w/dinner portion) I was surprised how much it was. Amazing Thai food. I have been here several times, and each time it is consistently great, and the people have always been so nice. The must try starter is the cream cheese egg rolls. Sounds simple, and they are, but they are insanely addictive and delicious. The pad Thai is incredibly flavorful, and it is honestly the best I have probably ever had. It is not bland, but instead comes with bits of fried tofu, spices (I like mine spicy), and the noodles are always cooked perfectly and not limp and lifeless. I like getting vegetable instead of the meat, and the assortment of vegetables they put is perfect (baby corn, broccoli, snap peas,etc). I have also had their red curry - amazing and rich. I visited Thai hut on NW Military.for 1st time. I was pleasantly surprised. The girl who takes order over phone is so sweet and patient. I went in to pick up order and again the girl is really nice and is doing a great job. I ordered Thai chicken fried rice level 3. I will say this was amazing so perfect right on point.
