    Chive dumplings
    Robert V.

Thai Island is a classic DI spot and I'm so glad they survived the hurricane damage a few years back and have kept up the quality. The owners are so friendly and always seem grateful to have your business. We have been many times but went recently and tried the new chive dumplings, they were unlike anything I've ever had before! The pan seared ones had a nice char on the outside but then were so soft on the inside. I also got the pad kee Mao, one of my favorite Thai dishes, and my girlfriend got their new dish khoa soi which was a creamy coconut curry. Both were pretty spicy for us but delicious! The decor inside is so cool too and sitting out on the front porch and watching people go by on the DI main strip of businesses is fun. I'll always love Thai Island!

**"Thai-rrific Bites in Every Dish!"** I really enjoyed the **off-the-beaten-path location**--tranquil and perfect for a relaxed meal. The food delivered a **solid Thai experience**: no fireworks, but definitely no regrets either. **Highlights:** The **green curry was excellent**--rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. The **spicy rice** stood out with just the right kick. **Room for improvement:** The **spring rolls** fell a bit short--lacking flakiness in the wrapper and could've used more filling. All in all, a **good spot for satisfying Thai flavors** without the hype. Would I return? For that curry, absolutely! -

We were in the area to try out the infamous wine window at Buchette Spritz Bar and looking for a place to eat dinner. We found this restaurant off Google and decided to try it out. It was very busy (Saturday night around 7pm). For drinks, we got the cold nigori sake bottle (plenty for 2) and reasonably priced. For food, we tried the tom yum talae (seafood) soup, beef pad see ew, and squid Panang curry. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Would come back again!

I went to this restaurant and they were out of fresh rolls. Very disappointing!. The crab rangoon and the calamari had a nice batter which was good. I ordered the Thai Island rice and it was cold and tasteless. It tastes like oatmeal. I sent it back and got the pets to you and it was flavorless. I will never go back to this restaurant ever again. When it has the guy for a military discount he gave me an excuse then he would lose money. The funny thing is that he was in the Air Force and he still didn't give me a military discount. Another thing that turned me off

ratings: thai tea: 10/10 thai island salad: 7/10 satay: 9/10 spring roll (fried): 8/10 thai island salad was a basic salad, but the peanut dressing was delicious so it got a higher score. actual salad 6/10, peanut dressing 10/10 our waitress was so sweet and very attentive. checked on our table very often and the food came out super quickly. all the staff were super nice and had elf hats on for christmas i'm not a big fan of thai food so idk how accurate my ratings are, ratings are just how much i like it though... i did enjoy what i had! wait time- none parking in front and next door at bank

Excellent food! Such authentic Thai food and their service is super fast. Every worker there is so sweet and it's such a cute (very small) place to eat. Definitely won't find another like it nearby! Great for takeout as well.

    Nam Sod - Minced pork

The ambiance is simple at this small Thai restaurant. If you want the chance to try some authentic Thai food that tastes homemade, this is the place. Their menu is by QRC code, and it is nicely described for each plate. The portions are perfect for the price. Great flavor and value with the ability to try a few different items. I had lunch with my mom and sister, so we decided to share three salads for our table. We got the Nam Sod that had Minced pork, ginger, cilantro, spring onion, shallots, tossed with peanuts, and chili lime dressing. It was light, and the whole peanuts were toasted and crunchy surrounded by whole pieces of romaine lettuce. The Pla Koong (Shrimp Salad) had 4 large Grilled shrimps, shallots, lemon grass, shredded lime leaf, minced cilantro, and onion tossed with a homemade chili lime dressing. This was my favorite because it was on the spicy side and had so much flavor from the lemongrass. An off the menu item we ordered was a roasted Japanese Eggplant Salad with steamed Calamari rings. The cold broth was light and had lots of red onion slices, which also had large Romain lettuce leafs in the bowl. They no longer have lettuce wraps on their menu, but these 3 salads were served with enough romaine lettuce to be a good substitution. Technically, there was no salad dressing, but the cold broth at the bottom of the bowl was so different and delicious for each of the salads. I would definitely come back again, but maybe at an off dining hour as there is no parking at this place, and it is quite difficult to find any parking on the street.

Dinner time on a weeknight and I sat outside right away with no wait. Food came out fast with no mistakes. In my opinion the pad thai could stand to be less sweet. Otherwise the quality of the food was great. Bigger portions would be welcomed for the price. Bonus points for walkability from the hospital.

My first impression was this place is unique. Hours posted on line said 48 minutes to close for dinner but when we got there they were kinda rushing us so they could close. The food wasn't the Thai flavor we are accustomed to but we ate it. They guy was very nice and explained the sauces and dessert but probably won't come back.

Let me start by saying......being from Chicago, maybe I'm spoiled...but pick a dish and we have some of the best anywhere..... that said....the dish I order(host recommendation) included shrimp, chicken and ham....the first indicator was only 1 small piece of shrimp in the whole dish.... It was "good" but not convinced it was fresh, rice was ok, upside was cashews....but overall......ok...

We ordered the duck with with white rice. The duck was so overcooked and the skin so overly done that you couldn't even chew it. I didn't think it was possible to screw up white rice, but they managed to do it. It was hard as if it had been reheated with no taste. Next, we ordered the fried rice with chicken and shrimp. There was only three pieces of shrimp and three small pieces of chicken, so I asked if this was normal and they said yes, it was. Seriously, on a place that big, you can't put a little bit more shrimp or even chicken? The Pompano (which we ordered because they were already out of the red snapper at 5:30 in the afternoon), was also completely overcooked and dry. They also forgot to order our fish, so we had to ask about it when all the rest of the entrées showed up and I said that they forgot, so we had to wait another 30 minutes for the fish to show up. I'm still completely confused as to why this place was so packed, and all the positive reviews because the food was absolutely horrendous. Will definitely never return. And if for some reason you decide to try it and it's hot outside, make sure you show up in a swimsuit. Otherwise, you will be sweating the entire time.

All curries were good, but the panang was the standout at our table (we ordered panang, massaman, and green). This place is so pretty inside. Service wasn't exactly slow, but it had a weird pace. Like, if you came during your lunch break you'd have enough time, but you probably wouldn't get a drink refill and your entree would come out maybe a minute after your appetizer, and you wouldn't get the first drink you ordered til after all the food was on the table.
