I had been craving some Thai food today. I can't remember the last time I went to a Thai restaurant in Florida. What a mistake by me. I'm glad I came a bit after the lunch crowd because parking in this area is always a nightmare with all of the other office space and restaurants right next door. To my surprise it was just me and 1 other guy in the entire restaurant. Now, it was a day after Easter at like 2pm, but still. I like how the bar area is divided between partly being inside and partly being outside. I decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. It was a perfect 80 degree day. Up first, I had the $10 Spicy Edamame. I thought it was highly average. Not particularly spicy, and not particularly tasty. I wouldn't get this again. Then, I tried a $9 gyoza. Pretty standard as it should be. For the main course though. Wow, oh wow. I love me a great smoke show. The $22 Screaming Chicken Comes out absolutely screaming with smoke, steam, and sizzle. I loved the presentation. Then, they pour the hot sauce ontop of the meal and BOOM more sizzle!!! I asked for extra hot Thai spicy. The bartender laughed at me when I asked if I needed to sign a waiver. I said, ok so good to know it won't actually be spicy. I didn't even sweat eating the screaming chicken. I loved this dish and would absolutely come back for it again. For dessert, I'm a huge sucker for any donuts on a menu so I got the $8 Thai donuts. YES! I love the caramel sauce they are dipped in. They treated me with kindness on an embarrassing evening. Was supposed to meet a group of six but everyone was running late for different reasons. For over 30 minutes I sat alone at one of the biggest tables in the restaurant, by myself, feeling awkward. The sweet waitresses checked on me periodically and smiled and told me it was ok when I repeatedly apologized. In the end only 4 members of our group showed. We ended up clogging this large table up for 2 hours on a Friday night. As far as the food itself goes, my expectations were exceeded. Judging mostly on location, I had assumed that the restaurant would overcharge and underdeliver. This was not the case! The noodle dishes were great. The flavor of my pad Thai and my wife's pad see ew were both just right. Definitely one of the top Thai restaurants from a flavor perspective in the area. We had such an amazing time at Thai Prime! From start to finish. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and seated. Our waitress was so so nice. She gave us some of the best service we have received. The sushi was delicious and very well priced (happy hour sushi deal). We sat outside, which was a great setting for our weekly date night with our baby. Great happy hour menu. We decided to stop by before Taylor Swift. Really, it was the happy hour menu that convinced us. They have a variety of food and drinks on it. The happy hour is from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is great. First off, I wasn't a huge fan of their dirty martini, but that was the only major knock I had. It was only $8 so I'll live. They have four rolls of sushi for $31. We got spider, spicy tuna, california and japanese bagel and they were all great. We also got a rainbow roll, but at that point I was two martinis in so I can't truly attest to how good it was. My favorite dish by far, which is surprising to me, are the chicken wings. They don't have sauce and were so tender. I also like the fried calamari. We got green curry with chicken and asked for it not to be spicy and pad see ew with beef. Both were good. We ended up getting a lot of extra sides of rice for it (kept ordering every time we ran out.) The chicken satay sticks were also pretty good. We ended with donuts that were delicious. Service was pretty quick and it wasn't crowded on a Friday between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. We were able to call to make reservations for our party of six. Parking can be a bit of a beast, but at 4:30 p.m. we had no issues. They do have valet if you need it. read more

The curry cheese and crab was different though, the inside was good. The crab Rangoon would have been better to me with a thinner casing. The chicken spring roll and pork dumplings were okay. All homemade. The chicken and steamed tofu pad Thai wasn't super hot, asked for some chilies and fresh Thai chilies to add, was better. The red snapper was tasty with the veggies. Although parking is atrocious because it's sharing a small parking lot with Coopers Hawk and other restaurants, the food and the service makes up for that hiccup. We were seated immediately for a Friday night. Nonny was such a wonderful server, pleasant and brought food out quickly. Everything I ate was delicious. The highlights were the crispy pork belly basil, beef fried rice, and chicken pad thai. My family ate family style and that allowed us to try multiple items on the menu. Probably our favorite spot in Tampa so far. We went looking for sushi but didn't order any ironically! The Thai menu was so impressive we just had to order Thai! We ordered Tom Yum with the snow crab, stir fry and Thai chicken salad. Everything tasted great. The service was amazing, absolutely perfect!
