Food: I got their lunch special beef pad thai with a small soup, salad, & 1 eggroll. Their soup was alright sea weed soup. Their salad was an after thought & the eggroll wasn't that great. I think those are just there to compliment the pad thai special. The beef pad thai was great! It had the basics, beansprouts, crushed peanuts, noodle & beef in sauce. The noodles had good texture, the beef was tender, and the flavors good! It reminded me of pad thai I had at ThaiChefs (Another good thai place in Cypress!) Overall: This was probably 3rd or 4th time eating here and it never dissapointed me. Located in a shopping strip with an HEB and Starbucks, this place was quite pretty and clean inside. We visited on a Saturday for lunch. There weren't many people inside, but a steady stream of customers came in to dine-in and pick up their to-go orders. The menu was extensive with Thai, Japanese and Chinese entrees. We ended up choosing Chicken Red Curry and Tofu Pad Thai. I had a Thai tea and loved how it came with a dollop of whipped cream. The starter was a Japanese house salad. The Chicken Red Curry was so thick and creamy. It was so good, reminded me of my grandma's version. The Tofu Pad Thai came out with a thin, crepe like layer of egg over the noodles. Thai Jin is a great place to get your Asian cravings on. The crazy roll and spider roll were both soft and fresh. You only get 6 pieces but I was impressed even the veggies inside were crisp along with the shrimp tempura and crab shell which weren't over breaded. My husband had the pineapple chicken curry which was fine. There wasn't that many ingredients in the curry but it still tasted decent. Service was spot on, not to intrusive or inattentive. I took my parents to eat here on a Thursday night. I'm surprised that there being so many houses around there, the place was sort of empty. The presentation of the food is very nice. I had a coconut soup which was wonderful. Everyone finished their dishes, including a papaya salad which my Mom ordered and seemed to enjoy them. We ordered chicken lettuce wraps as an appetizer and they were flavorful and served with a sauce. The prices are very moderate. There was an interesting flyer at the entrance saying that sweet tea is now "available." This is interesting and irrelevant to a Thai restaurant, but oh well! Who doesn't like sweet tea? I can't believe I waited so long to return to Thai Jin. I want to try the sticky mango rice and the Thai iced tea which is wonderful but being that it was at night, I didn't want to be awake for a while. read more

I took my girlfriend and we loved it! She got the Orange Chicken which looked amazing. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The sauce, which they make themselves, was just a perfect pair with the chicken. I got the Sichuan Cashew Nut Chicken which was filling and delicious. You have the choice of spicy or not and then the level of spiciness. I got the third level (American Spicy) and I was on fire...but it was a good burn. Menu was nice, easy to read and has some example of dishes. The food was delicious and sushi chef was cool. Only gave 3/5 because my waiter gave me a bad vibe. I felt pressured to eat quickly because it was 9:24 and they were cleaning up as I'm halfway through 2 rolls. Definitely did not get a very welcoming vibe, something I wasn't really prepared to deal with. Never had that happen before, at least not the obvious signs of frustration. Our experience in this restaurant was extremely disappointing! We placed a to-go order, like we have many times before, and everything was fine until we got home. When we opened our lettuce for our wraps it was covered in bugs!!!! When we called to let them know they told us to take the food back if we wanted a refund. We didn't mind taking the food back because we weren't going to eat it anyways. Once we took the food back all they did was make excuses and say it's because of the "season" that our food had bugs. The "owner" said "Well, for you it might be weird but Asians do eat bugs"! I understand that it's "normal" for her but I did not ask for bugs in my lettuce! Nothing worth coming for. Got pad Thai, the egg that came with it tasted rubbery. Got general tsos chicken and it tasted like sweet and sour chicken and had a weird color to it. The people that work here just stand around like they have nothing to do. Also their egg drop soup was a weird brown color and tasted super sour. I had them take that back. I had the drunken noodle and my wife had pad thai and both were bland and had no flavor---they tasted the same. We also had a five-year-old order too who did not like her dish and she likes Asian food. What was frustrating was they brought my food, so my wife and daughter waited then they brought my wife's food and daughter waited and she was so hungry. If you're looking for a very nice and relaxed atmosphere with amazing food, you found it. The owner is there everyday, just from that alone you can tell the level of food service and quality! Thai Jin was a wonderful experience. We went on a Sunday night around 6 and it was slow. Waitress was very sweet. I ordered yellow curry with chicken. It came with white rice and a side salad with "ginger something" dressing. Salad was unimpressive, but the curry was very delicious. I prefer Thai Cottage's yellow curry. Thai Iced Tea came in a fancy glass and the waitress automatically provided water with it, which I appreciated. I like that this restaurant serves Chinese, Thai, and Japanese food. The variety allows options for the whole family. From the outside it doesn't look like much, the inside decor makes this a great place for your next date. read more

The Pad Thai was awesome!!! Full of authentic Thai flavor and not drowning with sauce or having an overwhelming spice. IT had just the right kick (hot) without the burn in your mouth but still full of delicious flavor. My husband had the spicy beef basil (medium) and his was just as delicious with a touch of spice. I was introduced to Thai Jin by a UYE and the food was so good that I had to go back. I went again this weekend and took a friend with me. I love the environment. The lighting is dim and the decor is Asian themed. The service is excellent and any of the waitstaff can and will help. The food is great! I especially love the sushi. I was surprised that a Philadelphia roll could have as much flavor as the one I tried here, but it can and it was awesome. Thai Jin takes special care to use the best and freshest ingredients, and one bite will prove it. I also tried the Green Curry and the Pineapple Curry. The Green was my favorite and a level 3 - Hot - was perfect for me. If you like your sushi warm, like my friend does, you'll like the Mardigras roll. It has crawfish in it and it is served slightly warm with tempura batter and eel sauce on top. This place was just fine. I have no beef with their (garlic) beef. But 60+ reviews and 4.5 stars sets the bar unobtainably high for a place that is otherwise solid. Imagine if someone told you that "50 Shades of Grey" was a world-class novel. That framework is unfair and uncalled for--and it would be much more enjoyable at face value. For reference: Nidda Thai, Houston's best Thai restaurant, is only 4 stars (with 250+ reviews) and Kanomwan is 3.5 (with ~85 reviews). I am always leery of a place that advertises a specialty in 2 or more Asian cuisines. I love that in Bellaire's China Town, you can find Korean BBQ, Viet, and like 12 different regional variations of Chinese. But not under the same roof!* When I saw Thai/Sushi/Chinese all advertised on the sign, I began the expectation tempering. The lunch special is something of a deconstructed Bento box; main dish, small salad that gets half-eaten at most, egg roll & dipping sauce, soup. All-in-all a pretty good deal. You could do MUCH worse out on this area, but perspective is needed. *I understand that Banana Leaf is an exception to this, but Malaysian cuisine is practically "Pan-Asian" anyways. read more

This place is right up my alley. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the owner with a huge smile and shown to a table right away. The interior was very nice and clean. I'm all about that presentation! It was pretty good but nothing too special for me. BUT LET ME TELL YOU. We ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the pad thai with tofu. Both dishes were amaze-balls! The sweetness of the pineapple mixed with the savory chicken and cashews mixed in was so divine. The presentation was lovely as well for there was a lotus shaped beet included on the side. The pad thai was also very delicious. The spicy noodles and fried tofu were enveloped in a thin egg omelette shell. It also came with a side of crushed nuts, lemon slices and bean sprouts! The combo was just heavenly. Being two small girls, we couldn't finish everything, so we had to to-go it all. For two Thai teas, one appetizer and two wonderful dishes, it cost us a good $30! I don't think it can get any better than that. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other dishes and especially the dessert! Service was efficient so if you stop here during your lunch break then you'll get back to work in time. I had the red curry which I thought was decent but could use a little more flavor. It was bad but it wasn't good. I also ordered a Philadelphia hand roll. I was actually shocked that the sushi was decent for the area. The hand roll was $3 and the portions were generous. My coworkers got several pieces of sashimi and they were big especially for the price. Praise Jebus! A few years ago my neighborhood favorite Thai Racha on Longpoint closed down, and my search for a nearby standby may have been found. Thanks to the reviews of fellow yelper's I now know that a once defunct Chinese buffet has been transformed into a great looking establishment, (well what I could see anyways from picking up my to-go order). I called and ordered chicken pad thai, not bad, heavy on the noodles and not enough chicken, but huge amounts of egg, bonus or drawback depending on your taste, interesting way the presented the egg that's for sure. I also ordered red curry chicken as spicy as they could make it, hot but I sure could go hotter, I added Siracha to get it to my pallet level. The curry had green beans which were very fresh, and bamboo & red peppers. Cannot wait to try out more dishes, hope they can go the distance =D read more

The customer service was TERRIBLE. our group arrived at 1145 am, ordered at noon and still hadn't gotten our food by 1245 pm. We asked for our food to be boxed up and asked to speak to a manager at 1245 pm. The server immediately went to the manager to let him know, he looked at our table and nodded. We then watched the manager go to the kitchen to get a to go order and go back to check people out. Our food finally arrives at 1 pm and we go to the check out counter because that's where the manager is. He sees us behind the person he's currently checking out and flags over our waiter to check us out. He then WALKS AWAY FROM THE COUNTER! Our friend had to flag him down before he was gone and we spoke to him about what had happened. He told us it was OUR fault it took so long because we "were waiting for a friend". He wouldn't even listen when we told him we placed our order and told the waiter the last person cancelled at noon. He kept insisting it was our fault and next time we're in a hurry we should call in a to go order. TLDR: terrible customer service, food is average and the manager is rude. I almost feel bad because I went here once several months ago (when it was still a buffet), and liked it. Then my second child was born, so I cut back on eating out to see how another mouth to feed would impact my budget.
