Our order: The fried shrimp appetizer- was really good but kind of pricey and small for how many they give you. The sauces were very tasty. Soda- The taps run heavy on carbonation. Each soda refill costs. This would have been nice to know beforehand especially if you're in a large group. Jasmine rice- cooked fine. Wish there was an option for sticky rice. Yellow chicken curry- it was so mild I couldn't taste the curry flavor. The curry was very watered down. Not much going for the curry, just a few pieces of low quality chicken and some carrot. Delicious! My husband and I went there a few weeks ago and had a great meal. To start, we had the S3 Pohpia Sod, which are fresh rice paper rolls. They came with a very yummy tamarind sauce. For our entrees, we had the Pad Thai and the Kao Pad (thai fried rice). Both are served family style. They were both SO SO good. I was craving this place the next day. Their prices are very reasonable - our bill came out to $25 and we had plenty of leftovers. I've also bought take-out there 3-4 times during lunch - their lunch specials are awesome! They're $6-7 and are way more food that one person could eat, but I try! As for authenticity, I've only eaten at a few other Thai places before, so I really don't know how "authentic" this place is. But I'm not snobby about stuff, as long as it TASTES GOOD. And this place satisfies that requirement! read more

Thai Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I have been dining at this establishment since I first moved to Hanford in 2006 and I still enjoy it every time I go. The decor of the restaurant is a little dated and run-down, but don't let that turn you away. In my dining travels, I have certainly learned that what a restaurant looks like is not related to food quality. The service is good, though when it gets busy it can slow down a tad. Nothing major, but it is sometimes noticed. They do have a TV in the back and they are more than happy to change it to a station that you would like to watch. The food is great. From the start, you are served complimentary shrimp chips with an addicting dipping sauce. My favorite appetizers are the Pohpia Sod and the Cucumber Salad. The Pohpia Sod are cool and refreshing; the Cucumber Salad is tangy and sweet. While the Pad Thai is certainly good, my favorite noodle dish is the Pad Kee Mao. They will tailor any of the dishes you order to your preferred 'heat' level. Other items that are consistently good are the Tom-Kha Kai soup, the Som Tum salad, and the Pad-Prik-King. The Thai Kitchen is somewhere in my "Top 10" favorite restaurants in Central California. It's authentic, and the cooks are from Thailand. If I were condemned to death and I had my choice of any dinner, I very well might choose a bucket of the "Drunken Noodles" (or Pad Ki Mao) from the Thai Kitchen. The noodles, chicken, shrimp and everything else is absolutely amazing at this place, and it makes me realize what a horrible cook I truly am. This place is sweet, it's tangy, it's meaty and smoked, it's spicy, it's anything you want it to be....just change up your order. You ever seen a deep-fried banana? Very tiny establishment with mine tables, located in the middle of an old run down strip mall in Hanford. Service is VERY slow since there is only one server, but she is very friendly and really does try to hustle . Tea is the only drink with free refills and the waitress does a great job of keeping your glass full. Quality of food is very average, not enough to encourage me to go out of my way to return. I was terribly disappointed in this establishment. We were looking for a new place to eat and enjoy Thai food. The photos and reviews made it sound good. We drove from Visalia to Hanford for date night. We walked into the restaurant and waited and waited. The woman working the front, finally looked up at us, still didn't say anything. My husband told her table for 2. She looked around the restaurant (only 2 tables were occupied and one other was dirty), and said, "Ok, I'll clear that table and set it up for you." While we continued to wait, she took an order, came back to the counter, did some type of paperwork, then she disappeared into the kitchen. By this time we had been waiting over 15 minutes! I understand she was the only one working the front but there were multiple clean, empty tables. There was no reason to leave us standing like lawn ornaments for that long (mind you I'm disabled and wobbling there on my cane). After 20 minutes we walked out. They obviously do not care about customers. I am extremely disappointed and will not return. read more

Busy, rude, and can't do anything less than spicy. I wanted to order "to go" and it was a 20-30 minute wait, the woman was flustered and not nice about it. I decided to wait but when I ordered, everything I wanted wasn't possible, even though I order similarly in Thai restaurants all over California. It's not in a nice part of town and the front of the building looks ghetto and creepy. I can't say anything about the food because I got fed up and left before finishing my order. Outstanding meal tonight here!! My hubs had Pad Thai and I had whatever #33 was (feeling adventurous so I ordered something I've never had before). Both dishes were amazing. Piping hot, beautifully presented, very flavorful. Perfect portions to share (or not) and the beer was ice cold with a frosty mug. We will definitely be going back. For ethnic restaurants on Yelp, it's common sense and logic that when searching for "authentic" restaurants, that positive reviews written by NATIVE ethnicities would be good for that restaurant. Pad Thai is NOT suppose to be yellow, have frozen green beans, be seasoned with lemon more than anything else, not have peanuts, and taste like fried rice. 2. Spicy Basil Fried Rice is NOT suppose to not have basil and not have any spice at all. 3. Hanford, CA does not do Asian food well really at all. So..... Those of you that have rated this place 100% I question 3 things as well... 1. Do you trust ppl who are Thai or ppl who are not Thai regarding Thai food and what is authentic. 2. Do you really trust a place that messes up Pad Thai and charges you more than is on the menu? 3. Do you really trust food in Hanford in general? I mean....need I say more? Long story short. Oh good old Hanford. Let me just say that Asian cuisine isn't exactly the Central Valley's forte, but this little gem is an exception. When my mother told me they opened a Thai restaurant here at home I was in disbelief. I had to check it out for myself. I LOVE THIS PLACE. We come to this place every time I'm in town, because it's the only place me and my parentals can agree on. The prices are reasonable and the food is exceptional! My favorites are the green curry with chicken (very spicy), tom yum soup, duck over rice, pad thai, and pad kee mao. The mango with rice is a yummy dessert as well. YUM!! My husband is stationed at NAS Lemoore, and whenever we get into Hanford, we eat here. Thai Kitchen is open for lunch and dinner. The menu has many delicious items to choose from. I am a fan of the shrimp and bamboo dish, while my husband is a fan of the scallop, shrimp, and asparagus dish. The prices aren't too expensive, especially when you consider the quality and taste of the food. The staff is very professional, considerate, and helpful. They will help you out if you are new to Thai food. Also, you are given the option of how spicy you like your food. This is especially helpful for my husband and I. Although a nice change from Mexican, Chinese, or fast food, Thai Kitchen is still not up to par for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I still come to the restaurant when I have a craving for curry and have no time to make it myself or leave town, but the food can be quite inconsistent. Sometimes the curry can be way too spicy for my liking, or too mild and not salted enough. The noodles and fried rice that I've tried are usually too oily, but I do enjoy the flavor. The service is very slow, so I try to make sure to visit when I'm feeling most patient. I'm personally a little bothered by charging for regular drink refills, so I usually stick to water which they're horrible at coming by to refill (but I also drink a lot more water than most folks I know). If I can avoid coming here for better Thai food, I will. But all-in-all, it's kind of okay for a little bit of a change in flavor in Hanford. read more

I'm kinda on the fence with Thai Kitchen (hence my delay in writing a review). We've been here a few times now and each time we've had their Spring Rolls. I read the other Yelp review about the Spring Rolls here (stating they had iceberg lettuce in them), and I can report that I've never had that experience. I think they taste on par with every other Spring Roll I've ever had... but what I do love is their peanut sauce. Seriously, I have dreams about that peanut sauce, it's that good. I think these Spring Rolls are a bit heavy on the mint, but that's ok, because they come with that amazing peanut sauce. Did I mention the peanut sauce? Ok, let's cut to the rest of the review. When my husband and I first stated coming here, a few years back, this place was swimming in thick haze of incense. The smell was sooo strong. I'm pleased to report in our recent visits, they have stopped burning the incense, and that's a good thing. The food is ok. I used to get a broccoli and noodle dish that I think has been removed, so I won't bore you with outdated info (I was fond of that dish, so it's a shame). This last visit I got their yellow curry dish, my husband got the Pad Thai. I choose poorly. My husband had the winner dish. As I tasted his dish, I mourned for my poor decision making skills and vowed to get the Pad Thai on our next visit. I was not happy with the curry dish (in all fairness, I think Chili Night in Fresno has ruined me for all other curry dishes), plus I had to order some steamed rice on the side because the dish came with no noodles, rice, bread or starch of any kind. Just a bowl of curry and carrots and chicken. All that sauce, and nothing for it to go on or with. Maybe I'm just weird. Ok, so the curry was ho-hum for me, the lack of a starch has clearly had some sort of effect on me as well. We decided to order dessert because I really liked the idea of having a deep fried banana and ice cream. Have you ever had a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream, you know the way the heat from the brownie melts the ice cream slightly and does a happy dance in your mouth?
