After not using Panera Hanford for a long time, we stopped in a few months ago just for coffee and a treat. It was an enjoyable experience, and I think their coffee is among the few beat coffees in Hanford. Panera has since been a weekly or so stop for lunch or for coffees and treat. Service has improved greatly especially at the ordering counter. The workers seem to be much more customer oriented these days, which makes the whole time there more enjoyable ( and returnable). Let's start off by noting that it had been a while since I placed an order from Panera. However I still find this practice to be wrong and very off putting in so many ways. So when did Panera do away with the bagel containers and NOW just DUMP bagels into their brown paper bags with everything else ie: cream cheese containers piled on top?!?! This is 1st off very unsanitary due to the very likely hood of cross contamination. 2nd this was for a company employees breakfast.. not a great look when you show up to the office with bagels piled into a brown paper sack! I had such a wonderful experience and felt compelled to share it. Michelle at the register was absolutely exceptional. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made the entire checkout process feel seamless and welcoming, which is something you don't come across every day. Kaitlyn was equally impressive. Both were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and present throughout my visit. You can tell they truly care about the customer experience. I went in looking for baked potato soup and unfortunately discovered that they don't serve it anymore. This has always been my favorite meal here so I'm really disappointed. I also learned that they don't serve anything with beef, so you can't get a roast beef sandwich, which is also what I was going in there for. I ended up trying to flatbread pizza, and it was pretty good. I had never tried flatbread before and I didn't care for that as much as I do regular pizza dough, but it was good to find that out. The pepperoni was really spicy and I liked that. It was definitely more than I could eat so I ended up taking a third of it home with me, so it was a decent sized serving. Just a perhaps picky little note, I've only lived in Hanford for a little while and the Panera here is laid out quite differently from the way it was in Bakersfield. It's laid out in kind of a maze between the tables and where the drinks are and where the silverware and the napkins are - they are all in different places and you have to walk around all over the place to find each thing. It would just be nice if all of those things were in the same place. Just my picky little mention. read more

This restaurant used to be my family's favorite restaurant to dine in. However, the new management totally changed the menu and it took away the flatbread pizza and other dishes that made Panera as our favorite. The food prices are at least up by 15% and the salad sizes had gone smaller. Panera's Shrinking portion size and increasing prices has left us going to other eateries instead. Service is so-so and the place is still looking good but in the end people will notice the shrinking portions and higher prices that the new management has instituted! I don't recommend anyone to eat in this restaurant! read more

Anytime I come to this location the food is great. You get in and the food is served in a timely manner. I've been here at least 10 times over the span of years and haven't had a bad experience. This location is always quiet and clean. My go to is the bacon turkey bravo sandwich. My fav soup is the turkey chili and my new fav is the chicken and bacon flatbread pizza. read more

I feel scammed. This guy gave us the most plainest, saddest abomination of a chocolate croissant. Who makes a chocolate croissant with only two droplets of chocolate inside? The whole point is for it to be chocolate. Then he comes up and says it's like $16 bucks, along with three cups. That doesn't make sense. I thought it might not be that bad, it's a chocolate croissant. And then I take a bite into it and am immediately met with plain bread. My family wanted to try the flatbread family dinner. When I have gone to this store before I have left disappointed. Sometimes it has been because of the food and it tasting dry and a little less than fresh. Yesterday I went to get the flatbread family dinner and because of the fog and living way out of town this was going to be my one trip to town. Sadly as I put in my order, and received the order I just had just gotten 2 out 3 flatbreads and the two salads. Luckily I checked the order and found I was missing a flatbread and it was not to have any tomato sauce because of allergies. The young cleck did get my flatbread but it wasn't fixed the way I requested. So one member of my family wasn't able to eat it. This was not good service or following a simple request. Since I work from home, Panera is a fast, easy choice when for me. I typically get a Cesar salad with chicken and an egg (can't go wrong with that). I think my only complaint is how often they run out of items. Kind of makes it difficult to try new menu features. read more

I've never had a great experience at this place. Never. Everytime I order something to go and go to pick it up, I have to check my bag just to see I've gotten everything! I'm always missing one or two items. Last time I ordered, I missed a whole salad! Now, I was missing a cinnamon roll (I went back for it) and when I went home, I was missing the dressing for my salad, and I even ordered extra dressing in case they forgot. Don't order from here. A lady just came in and threw a huge fit threatening to call corporate and yelling at the workers and manager. Also physically moved a worker out of the way who was table bussing. Says she has to call and complain all the time. Total Karen, go figure. The workers on the other hand, handled the situation perfectly. Panera is a cozy environment and one of my favorite places to study. The ambience is typically casual and quiet, but not too quiet. I am always able to find a suitable seat for me and my group. I'm sure that I am speaking for everyone when I say that they're broccoli cheese soup is to die for! It's loaded with flavor and adds to their already cozy experience! I always have to order extra for the ride home! They're coffee and tea bar is pleasant and they have plenty of options for those who want a lot of flavor or those who are looking for a decafe beverage. All around great experience. I have given them 2 stars for my recent experience with their customer connections. I am very fond of the management at the Shaw and Marty location (Andres is VERY hospitable) but here in Hanford I feel like just another transaction. read more

Well what can I say??? I seriously detest poor reviews but believe too, that maybe they are beneficial for change?? So, a dear friend and I popped in to share a brunch and catch up on our news since I reside in a different town and we don't get together often enough. Would you believe at 10:00 in the morning there were 4 bagels in the abundant bagel racks! FOUR!! Also the treats that are displayed under a mirror were sparse too. The staff was not very pleasant nor friendly even though the words were supposed to convey such!! As we sat and started to enjoy our meal, a member of the staff came to our table and asked if my friend had a latte? She responded that she did, and the reply was that she was called for it. Neither of us heard her name being called and we weren't too far from the counter where it would have been. It was brought to our booth and we thanked her for bringing it to our table. We said we didn't hear her name called and the individual said, "Well you were." The restaurant was not that busy so the noise level was very low. And besides, I found her response inappropriate and a bit disrespectful. The high point was a sweet lady who kindly asked if she could remove our empty plates. We accepted in kind, though we would have cleared them before leaving. Not sure I'll make the 20 +/- minute drive to go there again. read more

Updated review (8/9) went in and got a couple of sandwiches that were ok. Got the BLT with the chia summer salad and the steak panini with a chedder broccoli soup. The BLT was good but not the best, salad was really good though. I also had the Blood Orange Lemonade was pretty good and refreshing. The steak panini was pretty good - was ordered with swiss instead if the other cheese and the cheddar brocolli was so goooooood!!I would go back just for the soup! Went in to get some bagels for breakfast(the other day). I waited in line for about 15 minutes until being helped. As I was there I glanced over to the menu and decided to get some drinks. I wasnt asked what size I wanted but I assume theres only one. I ordered some plain and everything bagels which were tough to rip apart not being warm. Once getting home getting them toasted and filled with cream cheese, they were pretty good and crunchy. Now to the drinks... I got the Passion Papaya Green Tea, per Panera has 130 calories and a Prickly Pear Hibiscus Fresca that has only 100 calories. They were both pretty good, the green tea was sweeter than the pickly pear hibiscus as that one is a little bit more tarty, but its still pretty refreshing. They dont really have a big variety or a lot to choose from most of their racks and shelves were empty. I witnessed employees cooking away in the kitchen and servers delivering plates to a table they had. That have a soft drink area along with the fresh drinks. They should seriously get rid of the "tipping option" at the register. It's a classless attempt to get you to cough up more dough. Even when the associate deserves it, if you're paying for $10 for half a sandwhich and a small drink, then why even go to Panera? There are times when I dont tip bc $10 for a sandwhich is steep and the associate took it personal. They're not rude about it, but it shows. Theyll give you the buzzer but you still have to pick up the food yourself. They whole eating out experience becomes half ass and it ruins it. Whatever happened to their excellent customer service? It must have been a while since I've frequented a Panera Bread but they seem to bathe some subtle changes. The food seems to be about the same which is to say it's pretty solid and reliable without being spectacular. I had the Pick 2 with the Cuban Sandwich and Creamy Tomato soup with a baguette. Had the Hibiscus and Prickly Pear refresher for the drink. Now to the changes....the first thing a noticed was a line of ordering kiosks near the front door but since there was no line I just went with the traditional way of ordering. They gave me my number and I found an unoccupied booth to make myself comfortable. A few moments later the food was actually delivered to me by a courteous employee. Ordered a salad and got almost nothing that I ordered. I paid extra for avocado and got none. I ordered the modern Greek quinoa salad and didn't get quinoa. It's in the name! Good place to eat. Light and healthy. We usually get the White Steak Cheddar Panini and the French Onion soup. Good combination together when you dip the Panini into the soup BOMB! Another is mac n cheese and grill cheese. Their Apple Crunch Muffin is really good. If you are looking for a nice apply/cinnamon taste. Never had a problem here. Tho lately they havent been cleaning the tables fast enough so you would have to clean off the crumbs. This Panera has wonderful customer service, but I wish the portions would be more reasonable for the price. I ordered a large soup and they gave me almost less than half. I might as well have ordered a small. My dad and I have ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups for years, and the serving amounts are always shorted significantly. We avoid the place now because we know we won't get the value of what we paid.
