It was good but honestly not the same Thai flavors I'm used to from other places. Overall it was decent. I did ask for spicy and nothing was really spicy. I'm sure many will like it here it was just not for me this time.

I don't understand why this place has less stars than some other Thai restaurants in the area that I've tried. Thai kitchen is consistent in their quality flavor and execution and service. This time I got to go as I was by myself and didn't want to eat alone in a restaurant. Ordered the food by phone and it was ready within 10 minutes by the time I got there. He walked in and it's not the fanciest place in the world. It's simple but friendly and always courteous service. The green curry chicken was good and flavorful not spicy plenty of chicken, basil and some bell pepper in there as well.

TWO DINING MEALS My first encounter with Thai Kitchen was ordering food to be delivered about five years ago. During that time I wasn't able to ate at Thai Kitchen. So I decided to come here to see how the food tastes at the restaurant versus food was the delivered to my home. The first time I ate here was for dinner. I didn't want to order the same food that was delivered. For dinner I ordered the honey BBQ pork and Thai Kitchen fried rice. I'm a firm believer anytime a restaurant has an item with the name of the restaurant that item signifies as a specialty. There was nothing really was special of the fried rice as I've eaten similar fried rice dishes at restaurants. I wouldn't have ordered the fried rice had the name of the restaurant was not on the item. Too much sugar on the meat can result an overly charred dish, but the BBQ honey pork at Thai Kitchen had a slight char with a moist meat. For the price I paid I had a satisfactory meal. My second time eating here was for lunch. I ordered the angel wings lunch plate special. The breading provided the crunchy texture. I liked the filling but couldn't taste the chicken. I slightly like the angel wings than the Thai Kitchen fried rice however not by much. The surprise for my lunch meal was the dessert siamese gems. This dessert is a Thai-style halo-halo. My second favorite dish in the world is halo-halo, which is a Filipino dessert. I wasn't expecting the siamese gems to be better than halo-halo. I wanted to see how different in texture between halo-halo and siamese gems. Whereas halo-halo consists of crushed ice the siamese gems consist of ice cubes. There are more ingredients in halo-halo than the siamese gems. Despite the differences I liked siamese gems at Thai Kitchen. Overall I had decent meals at Thai Kitchen. I'm glad I went there to eat instead of delivery because I know how the food really is at Thai Kitchen.

It's been a while since we ate in the restaurant instead of getting food to go. We ordered the Tom Kha soup for 2 with chicken and beef satay. It was excellent! Very Mom and Pop local restaurant vibe but the food is always excellent.

Unfortunately, I can't say I had a great experience here. The food was less than mediocre. The Pad Thai was missing key ingredients like bean sprouts and tofu, and it had no real flavor. The pineapple fried rice was scorched so badly I could smell it as they brought it to the table -- and it tasted like it was made from days-old leftovers. The chicken in every dish was very stringy and strange in texture, unlike anything I've had before. The yellow curry wasn't much better -- it had about two large, undercooked chunks of potato and two giant carrots. All of this somehow came out to just over $100, which felt way overpriced for what we got (maybe the hot tea pushed it over, lol) I don't usually expect much from a mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall place -- sometimes those are the best spots -- but this one definitely missed the mark. Even the decor could really use some love. And for being the only people in the restaurant, the service could have been a little better too. Overall, just a disappointing experience, and I won't be going back.

    Seafood Pad Thai

I spent $42 on just three items and left feeling completely ripped off. If you're thinking maybe I ordered large, family-style portions or high-end dishes -- not even close. I ordered a side of rice, curry chicken, and seafood pad thai. That's it. When I picked up my order, I was immediately shocked by how small the bag was. Honestly, I regret not walking out right then. To make matters worse, they didn't list individual item prices on my receipt since I ordered over the phone, and the Yelp menu photos are outdated. Yes, I should've questioned the total, but I figured the portions would be reasonable -- maybe even enough for leftovers. Wrong. As you can see in the photos below, both the rice and curry chicken were ridiculously small -- each container barely the size of my palm. Completely unacceptable for the price they're charging. I only ate the seafood pad thai, and even that was mediocre at best. The best part was the crushed peanuts, and let's be honest, I could buy those myself for a couple of bucks. I will never return to this location, and I sincerely hope they rethink their portion sizes and pricing. Right now, it feels like they're taking advantage of customers. Save your money.

Pra ram beef lunch special (13.99), hot water

Thai Kitchen has been here for literally decades. Decor is traditional Thai with the usual elephant, artifacts and pics. Semi-large seating area. Large parking lot. Offerings: usual Thai menu including lunch specials, specials... Quick service, ordered. Food ready in 10ish min. Sips: hot water. Skipped the usual sweet drinks Bites: pra ram beef lunch special (13.99) -came with a bowl of fresh steamed japanese rice. -had only a few twigs of melted spinach, lotsa broccoli pieces. Many sliced beef semi-tender/chewy. -beef & broccoli had no stirred fried flava, probably blanched in hot water before being mixed with peanut butter sauce in wok a few times -peanut sauce slightly sweet, had no other flavors. 3.5 stars worthy. Expected more flavor, stirred friedness. Food may have traveled well.

Haven't been here for years but was in the area and wanted some papaya salad. Inside was nice and clean. It was empty when I got here because I came 10 minutes before they close after lunch. My order was to go so was quick. Service was nice. Papaya salad was little bit pricier than other places I have been to. Papaya salad was ok, it needed more flavor it had more of a sweet taste and needed more lime, I ordered it medium spicy and it had no heat luckily the waitress gave me couple chili powders so I added it in to have some kick. Not a fan of the papaya salad but will come again and try other items.

Wild curry. Very water-y, not curry-like. and different taste from usual curries... Don't recommend

Went in and it was musty and old decor. That's fine... Some of the best food comes from holes in the wall. But food didn't impress. Beef Wild curry. Very water-y, not curry-like. and different taste from usual curries... A certain ingredient mixed in with the bamboo that neither my husband nor I liked. Pearl something dessert... Not as good as Halo halo. Would have rather gotten the Upside down halo halo from Cafe 86 down the street. Chicken yellow curry was good. Lunch special doesn't give you choice of meat which hubby didn't realize in time, and no soup, salad or eggroll. Plus is quantity of the dishes was huge. And service lady was nice.

it was great. first time getting the shrimp and it was good. My grandma got the yellow chicken curry and said that it was a little spicy but also she just doesn't eat spice at all. The little face on the ice cream was cute, very nice touch.

A little too dark and no ventilation but service was nice. Food was a little cold for my taste. Clean and quiet. They had a busy take out, maybe I'll try that next time. Total for dinner of two $53.90

We had the purple-colored Ube Pancakes and the Khao Hom Waffle, which contained strips of fresh coconut meat, and both beautifully-plated dishes were topped with berries and syrup. I was an even bigger fan of the Thai side of the menu, starting with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing, crunchy mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, and crushed peanut in a spicy, sweet, acidic dressing made of fish sauce and lime. For our mains, the Northern Thai Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles and chicken breast strips in a rich coconut curry, topped with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, and fried shallots. From the Chef's Special menu, the Tom Yum Crab Omelet was a mound of jasmine rice enveloped with an egg omelet, topped with chunks of crab, mushrooms, and a creamy tom yum sauce; and my favorite dish was the Roti Gai Tod, a hearty combination of breaded chicken thigh, roti (a flaky flatbread), cucumber salad, jasmine rice, and a mild but flavorful yellow curry sauce on the side. Overall, everything we tried here was delicious, and the service was super quick and friendly too! It's hard to go wrong with anything on the extensive menu--what a great hidden gem of a restaurant in downtown Hayward!

Tom Yum Crab Omelette- the best one to get since it has creamy tom yum sauce, a soft omelette, drizzled with a slice of lime, and crab meat with a few mushroom slices on top of fluffy rice. Khao Hom Waffle- coconut pandan waffle with fruits and syrup on the side. I wish they replaced the syrup with coconut milk syrup for better flavor and used no coconut shreds as a topping. Ube Pancake (side order)- one thick ube pancake that turned out dry when eaten with syrup. Never order anything that is not Thai on the menu. They should add Thai Tea pancakes to their menu with housemade Thai Tea syrup to make it more fusion. Pad Kee Mao w/ Chicken- I regret ordering this because the string beans were half raw, the tofu was dry, and the dish was a bit spicy. I should've ordered Pad Thai or Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict instead. Thai Tea- strong and sweet, not too watery. It was less crowded when we arrived at 10 am on the weekend. The waitresses were fast and efficient, and the restaurant was nice and spacious.

After a long day at the beach, we were craving something warm and comforting. Since they close at 8:30 PM on Sundays, we called around 7:30 PM to reserve a table for four at 8:00 PM. I was a bit hesitant about coming in so close to closing, but the team was super welcoming and assured us it was no problem at all. When we arrived around 8:05 PM, the restaurant was buzzing, completely packed with a full dining room and a constant stream of takeout orders. Even with the rush, we were seated right away . The food was spot on as always: My Kids' Favs: Chicken Satay, Pad See Eww, and Thai Iced Tea, all huge hits with the kids. Pad Kee Maw (Drunken Noodles): Absolute perfection! Loved the heat and rich flavor profile. String Beans Chicken with Steamed Rice: The sauce had the ultimate spicy and tangy balance, exactly as requested. Portions are generous, so we even ended up with delicious leftovers to bring home. The service stayed attentive straight to the end, the staff thoughtfully checked in before closing the kitchen to see if we wanted anything else. We declined since we were completely full (and had already indulged in donuts and coffee earlier), but we appreciated the kind gesture. Consistent quality, vibrant flavors, and wonderfully accommodating hospitality. Highly recommend!

A lot of Pad Thai tends to lean heavily on the sweet side, which isn't really my preference. Sala Thai's is still slightly sweet, but it's much more balanced and not overly sugary like many others. I also recommend the Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao. The crispy fish is another must-order for me--the crispy texture pairs really well with their house-made garlic sauce. I've also catered from Sala Thai for my wedding, and everything turned out great. The owners are genuinely nice and were very accommodating, taking the time to work with us and make sure our needs were met. That experience made me appreciate the restaurant even more. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food with consistently good dishes and owners who genuinely care about their customers.

We ordered five dishes: seafood soup, choo chee fish fillet, pad kee mao, roti canai, and rice. Unfortunately, on our way home we realized we forgot the to-go bag with all the leftover food at the restaurant. I immediately called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. I was told they had already thrown the bag away because they waited for a while and were preparing to close. I returned to the restaurant around 8:45 PM to ask about it in person. I spoke with one waitress who said there was no manager available. Another waitress came over and I explained the situation again. She said there was nothing they could do, and the conversation became unpleasant. When I expressed my frustration, she told me to go ahead and contact a lawyer and then told me to leave the store. I understand mistakes happen and that food may sometimes be thrown away for safety reasons, but the way the situation was handled was disappointing and unprofessional. A little understanding or better customer service would have gone a long way. We used to enjoy coming here, but this experience left a bad impression.
