We love this place! Thai Kitchen is located just down the street from us, so we call in to do take-out quite a few times. The price is decent and the portion is bigger than average. We tried most of their menu and we have not been disappointed once. I have brought my friends to the restaurant few times and they all love the place. From the outside, the restaurant looks very sketchy and deserted. But once you step into the restaurant, the smell of the spices and the faint incense welcome you. The waitress is not fluent in English, but she is very patient and nice. The restaurant is located in a disenchanted shopping center. The parking will not be a problem. read more

This place is near my house so if I want some Thai food, I come here. But I would come here even if it wasn't near my house. The food is good and the service is great. To-go orders come out pretty fast. Everything I've had here is yummy. I cant remember exactly what I've had but I know I've had pad thai, some sort of sweet and sour chicken, a seafood salad, and some other dishes. Im never disappointed when I get something from here. The place is usually empty but dont let that fool you. You can bring a big group here since its a decently sized restaurant but its also a nice quiet place for two. read more

I don't come here often, but whenever I do, it's always been consistently good! This place has one of the best tom yum soup I've had so far. This is not my first time to thai kitchen. I've been here a few times beforem The service is excellent, everyone is super nice and attentive. Boyfriend ordered yellow curry and lamb and I had the rard-nah seafood (flat noodles with gravy and assorted seafood). Everything came out promptly. My dish had this fishy seafood smell, which isn't surprising since it's seafood but it threw me off a bit. You could taste that it was frozen seafood.. Boyfriends curry was very thin and oily. The bf, family and I always go here. Why not? It's cheap and YUMMY! We're always on a hunt for tasty pad thai and this is by far the most consistent restaurant. It's situated in an old complex.. The exterior is not very inviting.. one of would think it's not good at all because of its appearance.. but don't be fooled. Once you go in, it's very authentic and would have never expected the antiquity of the interiors. What we usually order: Chicken Satay Spicy pad thai(of course) cheapest pad thai in the area. Chicken Panang and for dessert, sweet rice and mango. When the bf and i dine in, they usually give us a lot but when we order to go, it's less. Hmmm.. Oh and they also let you bring in a bottle of your own wine. So, definitely bring a dessert white wine, Moscato perhaps? By far my favorite Thai restaurant as of yet. I have been extremely pleased with every entree I have ever ordered here before, especially the mussels in yellow curry. My boyfriend and I always order the following: chicken pad thai, chicken satay, chicken with yellow curry, rice, and thai iced teas. The food is reasonably priced and portions are fair. The presentation of the food is immaculate. Even their rice is served in fancy silver tin bowls. My only down pour to this place is the slow service while eating inside! Came here one day after a long drive, and decided to eat thai with my bf. First impression... Super nice waitresses! We had a great convo about hiking and how we were thirsty, so they gave us a huge pitcher of water. We were super happy and decided to order their pad thai, crab fried rice, yellow curry, and their sweet fish. Comparatively to other Thai places I've eaten at, this place satisfies my cravings but is lacking something that makes the food outstanding. Its average. We are hungry and sitting here right now after reading good yelp reviews about this place. We just moved to Union City and was hoping to find a good Thai place like Mai Thai in San Leandro. This is a Sunday the place looked busy all but two tables already had food on it. We arrived at 2:05. My husband had to flag down a lady to take our order at 2:20 after the water was brought out. We put Food came out at 2:58. I really don't know about the taste of the food because my child is so upset from hunger that I am really not tasting my food. This place is a hidden gem. Really nice dining setup, the servers are nice and polite. They really cook the food fresh and hot. Eh. It's ok. Let me explain. First, don't dine in if you have kids. They seem to really dislike children, and complain they are dirty. Uhm if you open a restaurant int eh suburbs, there will be kids. If you wanted kid-free customers open in SF. I like that the tofu curry is actual soft tofu as opposed to the fried tofu you always get elsewhere; this alone may by the only reason I return for takeout. I liked the red rice. Larb was ok but dry. Curry was runny. "Crab" fried rice is with imitation crab and not noted on the menu. wtf. I felt totally cheated. And have never been to a Thai place that used imitation crab. More like 4.5 Stars. Went here last Friday on a total whim. I remembered friends eating at this place and my boyfriend mentioned it once or twice before since we drive by it whenever we go Seafood City. The food was decent priced, yummy and they give a good amount -- we had ample leftovers. We ordered the Pad Thai which today (yep, we went again with my brother this time) and my boyfriend said it's the best he's had thus far. He likes how they don't go overboard with sauce. We also had the Thai Kitchen Fried Rice - YUM, BBQ Chicken - there's a lot of it too, Penang Beef - which my bro said was so full of flavor, and the combo appetizer sample. I HAVE TO have that whenever we go, it's got the satay, these stuffed chicken wings, spring rolls and these awesome fish cakes. And the three dipping sauces it comes with are so freakin good. I told my friend about it, and she used to frequent this place back when she lived in UC. We're there again the next time she visits. I have to stress they give good sized portions. As far as food goes, I can't quite grasp what was missing. As a Thai food critique that I am, this place just didn't do it for me. It's missing the strong spices/herbs that I am used to. Pad Thai - Soggy noodles. Honey BBQ Chicken - Not what I expected... period. lol This spicy beef dish - This was the highlight of the meal. Combination Fried Rice - Not bad, but not great either. I went on a Thursday afternoon and the place was about 70% filled. A busy restaurant is always encouraging to see. For lunch, I ordered: -Yellow Curry Chicken: Nice and thick. The chicken is a little dry though but I find that very common at a lot of Thai places. It's hard to cook white meats well in curries. -Pa'nang Beef: Tasty! I love the fresh zucchini. Makes a big difference. -Pad Thai: Not orange! I was surprised. What makes pad thai orange anyway? The noodles were overcooked so they ended up being quite soft and watery, not noticeably though. -Thai Ice Tea: Also not orange. This place must really abstain from food coloring. The sweetness overpowered the tea flavor. Each curry dish comes with a generous helping of rice (white or Jasmine). For two people, these three dishes were more than enough! Been living in the area for years and never thought to eat at Thai Kitchen due to it's location and look from the outside. It can seem a little dark, murky and uninviting but once you pass the threshold its a GREAT choice, one of the best Thai restaurants in the Tri-city area. Very reliable food- the best every time no matter what time of day. Absolutely love the YELLOW CURRY WITH CHICKEN paired with their PINEAPPLE CASHEW FRIED RICE (the best combo). I always come back here after trying other Thai places. Service is genuinely friendly, but not very aware with the guests needs, so I took off a star. Ordered the delicious pad Thai to go but only wanted tofu in it. When I opened it up to eat, it had vegetables which I was not happy about but apparently thats what all restaurants do when you only order tofu, so I called back and they gladly remade it for me since I wasn't happy.
