I had Thai Lily for delivery with some friends. We had the cheese rolls, veggie spring rolls, chu chee chicken, pad Thai with shrimp, and green curry with chicken. It was kind of hit or miss. I wasn't a big fan of either type of roll...they were too soft and chewy on the outside instead of crunchy. The cheese rolls are basically just cream cheese in a fried wrapper...not that special. I did like the filling of the veggie rolls though. The chu chee chicken is pretty tasty! It's basically breaded chicken with a red curry type sauce poured over it. The green curry was tasty as well. I liked that they had eggplant in it. Compared to other Thai places, I feel like they're not as heavy with the spice. The curry was a level 4 and the chu chee was a level 3. The 4 had some kick to it, but the 3 did not. I'd probably go with a 4 or 5 if you like your food with noticeable heat. The pad Thai was ordered dry instead of moist, and I thought it was actually pretty tasty. I wasn't crazy about the shrimp, and they definitely only gave you a few for charging an extra $2 for them. I've made a few visits to Thai Lily Cafe. I really haven't had a lot of Thai, so I can't make a general statement regarding their food, but I can say that I've enjoyed the food each time I've visited. The only concern I have is their level of service, which could explain the reason it's always almost empty. The waiters are nice, but they just don't seem to care whether anyone shows up there or not. They don't seem eager, as if they're donating the food. One other time I came and there was another table occupied, but my co worker and I are usually the only people there. This is usually during lunch time, which is odd. You would think being the only one in the restaurant, service would be quick and on point. The staff move and operate as if they have a restaurant full, with others waiting. Im always having to wait for them to return to the table. I had to give them a "3 star" rating because the food is actually good and they're not rude. They just don't seem to care whether they have clients or not. This restaurant really has the potential to receive a 4 or 5 star rating if the service level would increase. This is definitely a good thai place. they give a good amount for a reasonable price. We ordered chicken pad thai, beef pad keemao, basil fried rice, thai lilly chkn wings and papaya salad. Greeted and seated quickly. The service is really good. Waiter was really kind and attentive. There's a button thing on the table if you needed the waitor, which was convenient. Place is cozy and small, the place does need a bit designing/organizing in the middle and right area, looks a bit crowded. I feel like the place doesn't have a good design scheme? Looks homey so that's good. Their menu don't do it's food justice. Honestly the pics on menu look really bad. The real thing looks much better and appetizing, so don't be fooled by the pics. Found this gem on the corner of dairy ashford & westhimer. This is my second time coming here & both times did not disappoint. The food here is amazing, the staff is super friendly, and it's so peaceful and quiet. I notice the place is quite empty but I see a lot of people order to go from them in & out. I've been searching for an authentic Thai/Lao place for the longest, needless to say, I found it. There are many thai restaurant here in Houston, but most of them aren't consistent, and there's hardly any Lao restaurant here, therefore, this is the only place that's a fusion of both combine. I usually order the Lao style papaya salad (spice level 3), the fried tilapia, chicken wings, and sticky rice. Everything was cooked in perfection and came out the same time, the portion was more than enough. The dishes were all delicious nothing I can say was bad. The owner herself came and checked on us to make sure everything was ok and if we needed anything else, & her staff treated their customer with positive customer satisfaction. Their thai tea here is amazing as well, better than most tapioca joint. After finishing your meal, they give you a fortune cookie at the end of your meal. Got this food to-go and had low expectations since to be honest, my boyfriend and I have never heard of this place but it was the only one located in the energy corridor by us. My family love love this place. We flew to Houston often from California to visit family and each time we have to stop at Thai Lily for some yummy Thai food. The food are so authentic and service was great. I mean, I'm Thai and usually I could tell if the food is authentic or not, this place has it all. The green curry is delicious, choose heat level 1-5, but if you are very American looking, they may hesitate to serve over 3 to you! I like spicy and level 3 was just right, so they steered me properly. The spring rolls are served with a super thick peanut sauce, l haven't seen this texture before but it was delicious. The "spicy Thai wings" weren't spicy. The Thai omelette was a hit with a friend. The pad Thai has a "dry" or "wet" option. The menu is ALL PICTURES so yay for newbies having a taste adventure. Scary. was told to seat any where? Yep. Decided on basil chicken with green beans and a Thai coffee. Was shown a buzzer button on table and was told when server was needed to push it? Was he THAT busy? So the lunch entree came with soup, salad and spring roll. Soup was chicken base with water and a few veggies. salad was 3 pieces of torn lettuce with a couple of shredded carrots and a dab of peanut sauce. Granted the sauce was tasty. The spring roll was warm, crispy and flavorful along with the gratuitous sweet chili garlic dipping sauce. The coffee was standard. The basil beef was just OK with nothing to write home about, especially as I am visiting here from FL. I asked both the waiter and the food runner? for fresh thai chilis and I was given a blank stare back. The server brought me the condiment bowls of sambal, dried red pepper and hoisin? I asked AGAIN for fresh thai chilis. Finally the food runner? brought me a small monkey dish of chopped fresh chilis(YEA!) The dish was in much need of additional flavor. Food is decent, service often slow, inaccurate, and rude. We order from Thai Lily pretty often, a couple of times a month. It's rare that an order is delivered complete. Twice we've had to wait for the rest of our order to be delivered. Forgetting an order of rice ... not such a big deal. Forgetting an entire curry is sort of a big deal. And it's happened two times now. The worst part is when you call them to tell them about it, and the woman on the phone has a nasty attitude. "Oh, really?" she says, like your mom would say after you tell her that the dog ate all the candy. "Would you mind me asking you what order you're missing?" she says, like a teacher who's already figured out your scam. In addition, the order was missing white rice, which probably would've made my soup a lot better... Basil Fried Rice- Worst basil fried rice I've ever had. They were really lazy with the ingredients. The green beans were only cut in half so I had long strands of green beans and hardly any basil. Also very bland. Pad Kee Mao-Extremely greasy! I tilted the container to the side and had probably half a cup of oil come running. Tom Yum Goong Soup- Extremely salty.
