Definitely the best Thai food around. Wish they delivered, but it's worth the drive anyway.

The Thai Orchid is exactly mid way between the residences of myself and my long distance love. Easy take out for travelers. We had the pad see eaw, great noodles. Tempura vegetables were a little mushy when we got it home, but I imagine it's better fresh. Zucchini shrimp was also tasty with a bit of spice. Tom ka kai soup had fresh veggies in it! Altogether a great meal. read more

This unassuming little place in downtown Southbridge serves up the best Thai food I've ever had. Among my favorite dishes are their pad thai and lemongrass chicken. Both far surpass anything I've had elsewhere. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are complex and delicious. They serve dishes between 1-5, with 1 being mild and 5 being extremely spicy. Went back to Thai Orchid again last night, for takeout. We were interested in the Thai Curry Squash, but as vegetarians, didn't want it with chicken. They were nice enough to make us a dish with tofu instead of the chicken and it was, for reals, AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. The three of us were practically licking the sauce out of the container afterward. Thai Orchid truly is a little gem. My husband and I tried it for the first time back in early May and have gone there almost every week since then. I am not kidding, when I say the food is amazing. The service is wonderful, the restaurant is really clean and the food is a great value. We tell everyone we know about this place. (there is a chinese buffet that i hear is good though). i got ginger chicken and my adorable companion got bbq chicken. both dishes were scrumptious! the service was excellent. i didn't try the asian sodas and drinks but they had several options. Entrees and apps were amazingly delicious and flavorful!! The basil chicken was awesome. The beef satay app was damn tasty. Another plus for me is that they have mountain dew in cans!! (roflmao/fat). The restaurant is cozy and clean and the staff were very friendly. One thing kind of weird.... The sticky rice came in a little basket (which is typical) however it was in there without plastic. Normally restaurants have the sticky rice in plastic and then in the basket presumably because the baskets are hard to clean. The rice being naked in the basket was a little sketch-o-rama. I would definitely come back to this place when I'm in the area. ***THIS PART IS NOT THE RESTAURANT'S FAULT*** I should let you know that I went into the situation with lowered expectations (because of geography, not anything related to thai orchard itself). Central Mass wouldnt be central Mass without some poverty and/or drug related drama. My trip to Thai Orchard was no different. Some random junkie chick who came in asking to use the phone claiming her car ran out of gas. They let her and she proceeded to tell whoever she called that she'll meet them at the GAS STATION a half a block away. REALLY?? Why didn't you just walk there?! She then bummed a couple dollars off of one of the waiters. Obviously she was just trying to get some money out of anyone she could. I'm confident she was going to buy cigarettes or meth or oxy's. I went here for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised! Located in the former spot of "Mary's Cakery" the outside seems iffy, but inside is quaint and tastefully decorated. I was looking for a beef dish with noodles, so they let me substitute and get beef pad thai instead of chicken. I also shared my Aunt's duck dish with veggies and an order of angel wings for an appetizer. Phenomenal! I will definitely go back. read more

This place is wonderful. It's tiny and never too busy. The food always tastes fresh and not greasy. I don't think I have ever had a bad dish. The prices are very reasonable. I often get the beef satay ; I think that is just over $5. One downside for some may be that they do not have delivery. They just have dine in and take out. read more

We ate there once a s a family and I always order Pad That at That restaurants as a test of whether it's worthy. It was ok and not so memorable but decent if you are craving Thai food and you don't want to drive too far. This place is the best! We go all the time and have always been more than happy with the delicious food and the friendly service. They are very accomodating and cook everything to order, very fresh food and is consistently excellent! The Pad Thai is perfectly cooked and I would highly recommend. Its also a great place for kids, very inviting and colorful and also vegetarian friendly, they will cook anything you ask with tofu or just veggies...hard to find in this area. I travel extensively and have tried Thai food just about everywhere but this place ranks highest, really lucky to have them so nearby. Prices are beyond reasonable and it is much better than the other Thai restaurants in the area. read more

The food was good but the area was totally sketchy. We did takeout and so happy we did. Drug deal literally going down right outside and the neighborhood was real rough. We ordered a yellow chicken curry, the squash curry ( based on reviews) and a basil chicken. Everything was just good, not great and certainly not "lick the container" delicious like another reviewer said. For the life of me I do not comprehend the large number of accolades given to this restaurant. My party shared 5 or 6 items and none were that good. The appetizers were probably the worst - the calamari was more like beer batter onion rings with massive amount of breading and the beef thing was similar to dried beef jerky. Both appetizers were accompanied with the same dipping sauce which makes me wonder if they use the same sauce for all appetizers. The only things positive I'd say were the size of the menu and the prices Obviously I could have experienced an off day or a day the chef had off but it is too far to bother with a second time. read more
