I need to stop dragging my co-workers to Asian restaurants. I think they are secretly meeting to take away my lunch voting privileges.... It was either BJ's, Olive Garden or try a new place - how about Original Thai BBQ? They were tired and weak and didn't really care where they wanted to eat. The place was very small and hard to find. We almost walked into the Indian place next door because we were confused by the entrance to this place. We were seated after a short wait (Friday afternoon lunch crowd) with an ocean view - actually facing the fish tanks. Pretty casual place and I wasn't really expecting too much. We ordered egg rolls, BBQ chicken (lunch special) and few fried rice dishes. The food was good - not great. Egg rolls were ok and the BBQ chicken was good. My co-workers didn't protest and were busy finishing their fried rice..... I have noticed recently that they will only order fried rice in any Asian restaurants we visit. It doesn't matter if we were at Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese or even Peruvian. Hmmm..... Either they have given up or my lunch voting power will be taken away soon. I had the beef salad, and boy, it was spicy, but extremely salty too. It wasn't even a salad, it was pure beef. The quality of the beef wasn't so great also, it was either overcooked or rubbery. The decor was nice in a way. Service was slow, even though I had mine to go. I probably would prefer going to other Thai restaurants before eating here again... unless I'm lazy and don't want to waste gas money. read more

When my family lived in the area, we ate here often. The food was okay. There are not many Thai restaurants in the area so this was the go to place for Thai food. We had many of their salads, noodle dishes, and dinner entrees. This is not the best nor the worst Thai food we have had. Overall, the food and service are okay. read more

Food was pretty good but the servings were small. In a day where restaurants serve oversized plates, Original Thai isn't one of them. We came here with a party of 8 and had to do double orders of every plate just so everyone could have a sufficient amount to taste/eat. The BBQ chicken and ribs are definitely a hit in my book! The rice comes with shrimp and plates are large. Shrimp soup, fish dishes, and pad thai are decent, but I've had better. The prices are a little high, but then again it's a chain restaurant. Thai boba tea is also good. The hubby and I usually get take-out and it's usually ready in 15 minutes. Thai Original BBQ is my favorite Thai restaurant of all the Thai restaurants I've been to! Always on point with all their dishes. Love the pad see ew, pad thai, S-1 original bbq chicken, beef sate, tom yum goong shrimp soup, their panang curry, the calamari appetizer.. and the list goes on. EVERYTHING is delicious! I've been here about 4-5 times for lunch. A co-worker brought me to this place. And the reasons why I like it? It's close to work, they serve the food quick, food quality is decent, and price is not bad. I couldn't really tell you if its authentic Thai food, but I have typically ordered their chicken satay skewer from their lunch menu. It typically includes rice, salad, and a peanut sauce. The portions are just the right size, and I may get the Thai tea from time to time. Would definitely come to this place again! read more

Came here on my lunch break and was planning to get a BBQ dish but instead I ordered the Pad Kee Mow which was awesome. I asked them to make it spicy and they didn't did not hold back. Other Thai places tend to hold back when a non-Thai person requests dishes spicy. I have tried their BBQ chicken dishes before and they're always good to order. read more

I love this Thai place for their beef curries (any of them) and their fried trout. Literally nothing I've tried here was not good, and I come here often. The only gripe I have is that some of their meats and sauces are on the sweet side, but I know lots of people who love that. One of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Been going to the one in La when I lived out there. Chain locations so yeah they all taste the same. Tried to go here and have a dinner with my husband and two children and because there wasn't a booth open to sit us at they sat up in no man land behind a small petition wall and forgot about us. Never got served drinks or even asked if we wanted anything to drink. when we asked for service the women with a short hair cut yelled she would come right now and walked away. After sitting for 10 mins we left. Now worth the bad service, I'll just continue to go to the original one in Los Angeles. read more

We have been coming here for years and years. But on sun Jan 15, 2017, my wife and i both got food poisoning from the beef panang. The puking, sweats, cramps and overall miserable feeling was something i wouldnt wish on my enemies....horrible! Also the panang was extremely over spicy as if they were trying to mask something. This dish when ordered wo the addrd green chilis is mild enough for my 5 yr old to eat. THANK God though that it was blazing spicy or my poor boy would have been sick too....that would have been too much to handle. I want to say i will one day give them another shot but gosh...the scars are deep. * So im going through some recent reviews and i see that 4 days after my order, the health department closed them for vermin! Another one of my favorite local hole in the wall restaurants. Their stuff tastes pretty fresh and of good quality. Price is on the moderate side for Thai food. I love their Basil beef and their Beef Satay, really tender. The curries were pretty good too and not too oily. It's a pretty small place and we usually have to wait at dinner time, but lunch time isn't as crowded. read more

Damn you Original Thai BBQ! Not only have my standards for thai food risen to incomparable levels, but I often find myself getting cravings for Thai BBQ at odd hours. I used to pick up lunch at this place about once a week while I was working in Cerritos. I'll never get sick of their Beef Panang (EXTRA spicy), butterflied fried shrimp and Drunken Noodles (also extra spicy). Now, I live in LA. Walked in here to a room that was half occupied, with more than half of the restaurant available. Yet, the waitress had us wait a good 10 mins before seating us. Service was super slow even though they had 3 waitresses and it wasn't that busy. Waitresses were not friendly and did not tend to our table as I had expected. I tried the drunken noodles, which was better than I expected. Although their portions are not as generous as the other Thai places I've been to. We also ordered the garlic pork chops which the waitress recommended and I thought it was horrible. Super dry, not tasteless, over cooked. Two dishes costed me almost $20 and it wasn't filling for feeding two. I felt ripped off and definitely won't be coming back here with friends anymore. read more

Continuously return to this restaurant whenever I crave Thai food. There are other Thai places nearby that I've tried, but none seem to compare to this one! The service is mediocre from what I remember because I usually order take-out. Their beef sate is off the charts! Other favorites of mine include the pad thai (add some peanut sauce and it gives it an even better flavor) and beef pad see ew. 8/7/11 was with my daughters........... Mommy time............... This is where they wanted to go eat. I was apprehensive about it because I had gone once before and didn't like the service.
