First time dining at this restaurant - loved the food! Very quickly served even though there was a large party there for a bridal shower. BYOB? - O.K. - I can deal with that! The only thing my companion disliked was the big-screen TV - no bar there, and they felt the looming presence of a TV in a sit-down restaurant to be a little intrusive for dining. Very Friendly staff, beautiful interior but the food is horrible. I don't think its really even thai food. The pad thai is made of ramen noodles...if you want good thai go to 'Somewhere in Bangkok' in Southington. I decided to go to the Thai Palace on a whim, I live in the area and I just wanted a bite to eat.the exterior of the restaurant didn't look like much, just a small space with some Christmas lights in the the window. When I walked inside my guest and I were immediately greeted and seated, which is big in my book. I can't stand walking into a restaurant and not knowing what to do. So we sat, we ate, we had the spare rib app and the fresh roll app. They were both delicious and fresh. I loved the spare ribs, so much flavor and they were so tender! So apps were followed by a curry pumpkin dish with shrimp and slices of Asian pumpkin in a nice Thai soup served over rice. A++ for that dish! Then dessert! (I know I am stuffed at this point, but I do it anyways). A generous serving of fried cheesecake with ice cream, and then the fried banana and icecream. The food was amazing, I can't believe this place is right up the road from me and I can't wait for my next visit. The staff was so nice and friendly and the owner was in the house, which is always a plus. The staff was almost to attentive, that's my only gripe! Relax guys you are doing a great job, give your guests a little room to breath! In any event amazing food, amazing people, you have to go here if you are in the area. read more

I've now eaten over a dozen lunches or dinners at the Thai Palace. Each time I've eaten there, my dinner partners and I swear that, somehow, it was even better than the time before. I've eaten Thai food in NYC, at several restaurants in CT, as well as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, Thailand. The food at Thai Palace is better by far than any Thai food I've had in the USA, and is easily as good as what I ate in Thailand. Their ingredients are absolutely fresh and of excellent quality, the dishes I've had have all been perfectly spiced (to suit each diner, by the way), and the husband and wife owner/chef team are, if anything, even more delightful than the food! Went here for the first time with my mom tonight. It was here first time having Thai food so she wasn't excatly sure what to try or expect. I got the pad thai and my mom got pad priaw wan, which was a sweet and sour dish with pineapples and cucumbers. We both got the chicken entree. The dishes came out no more than five minutes after we ordered which we were both happy about. They were nice size portions. The pad thai was delicious just salty enough with a little spice and a squeeze of lime brought it all together. My mom's dish was also good. We decided to share the Thai custard for dessert which was described as coconut custard with pumpkin. When it came out it actually had pumpkin pieces in it. It was delicious though I loved the coconut flavor and that was the first time I've ever had actual pumpkin pieces, but I actually like it. The service was good filling up our drinks and making sure everything was alright. The reason I'm taking away one star is because there was not enough meat for the price and amount of noodles. We both got about five little thin pieces of chicken with our entrees, which was a little bit of a disappointment. Overall though I would recommend it and come back again. This establishment is BYOB and I was almost completely through my second beer before anyone even came over to us with menus. The food took a VERY long time to come out and was marginal at best, probably what you'd expect from Thai food in Wolcott. Very little flavor or authenticity to the dishes and they were definitely overpriced. If you are looking for good Thai food, there are much better options in the area. read more

Waitress on the first night was a little unfriendly but the woman that has served us since has been very friendly and is always coming over to refill our water glasses. A perfect hole in the wall which serves great Thai! Both of us had the Gang Dang, as we like our curries. Atmosphere and service was warm and adequate. This is a really great place to go with a few friends, a huge group or just a couple's night out. I've only eaten there once so that is why I give it 4 stars. I don't want to get over zealous. I will definitely return in the near future. It is BYOB so that is great if you are picky about your wine or any other drinks you want. The fried dumplings appetizer is really good. I ate the baby corn plate with chicken. I think it was an N2, not sure. It was delicious with a little of the red spicy sauce brought over in a caddy along with 2 other spicy seasonings. My friends got the flat noodles with broccoli and chicken and shrimp. They both liked their meals. We actually stayed and talked for maybe another hour after we finished eating and the staff was really friendly. We didn't feel rushed. The waitress was great with refilling our water glasses. I have to say that after eating the best Asian food in Boston, it's really tough to find anything I like down here. But the Thai Palace get's my seal of approval. read more

I LOVE Thai Palace. My mom and I have been going here since they opened and Mike and Nikki, the owners, have taken great care of us every since. The food is delicious and every time I go out to eat with someone, I ask if we can go here. It's a cute restaurant with lots of atmosphere, and it's BYOB which really makes it a gem. Definitely the best Thai food in the area and some of the best I've had anywhere in the country (including New York City, where I lived for a long time). I've eaten here plenty of time and just recently the food seems to taste different I'm not sure if the cook has changed . I tend to get spicy fried rice and it has been very bland and tasteless the last two times I've gotten it. I think I'll be traveling to southington for Thai from now on read more

The staff is great. The food just does not taste fresh. I had the Pai corn with beef. (e2) on the menu. My friend had dumplings as an appetizer. It was sent back to kitchen. As it was just not right. A lovely unpretentious place with delicious food and welcoming hosts. Took a crisp white wine with us and enjoyed a 3 course meal for 2 for under $40. The left over food was given the thumbs up by my friends daughter the next day and her son went back to the restaurant the following week. The food was good and the service very good. My confusion lies (as it seems to lately) with what they are trying to be. For Thai food they are a bit pricey but the food was good. They seem to want to be an upscale Thai restaurant and the decor is nice and the wait staff are all in black very well dressed. But then there is a large wide screen TV left on at one end of the very small dining room: WHY? It is very distracting, detracts from the ambiance and reminds me of a sports bar. I assume we were seated by the owners who were shabbily dressed in blue jeans and very casual t-shirts. WHY? If you are putting yourself out there as an upscale Thai restaurant with a nice decor and sharply dressed wait staff why are the people who are meeting you at the door on a weekend dressed like they just came in from mowing the lawn? The food and wait staff deserve 4 stars but the oddities drop it to a 3 for overall experience. read more
