Cashew Nut with Chicken. Good.
Katherine A.

Thai Papaya is one of my favorite restaurants to go for lunch. The restaurant is a tiny hole-in-the -wall in a little crowded strip mall. They have seating for about thirty at a dozen close tables and it fills up quickly, so you need to get there early. There is one large table that can accommodate 8 set-up regularly. The servers are always attentive and friendly. Jip was our server today and he was super. The lunch menu offers a wide selection of Thai favorites and everything on the menu is delicious. I generally start with soup, which is a tasty Thai sour broth, but you have a choice of spring roll or Thai salad. Today, I had the Pad Kee Mao with chicken (aka Drunken Noodles). You can adjust the heat level to your preference and I had medium heat. The sauce is made in-house and delicious. The portion is generous with a lot of crispy vegetables and thick noodles. I like the Pad Thai, too, and I hear the Green Curry is good, as well. They serve dinner, too and do a robust carry-out and delivery business. There is one unisex bathroom that needs some attention. You can get beer or wine.

When restaurants have been open for decades, trust them. Thai Papaya has been around long before the other 15 Thai restaurants surrounding Zionsville, and it remains excellent! My husband loves Pineapple Fried Rice *only* from Thai Papaya. Add shrimp or veggies to a dish? You'll have no question where your $2-3 went, it's packed full. I'm so grateful they're available on DoorDash so we can enjoy even when we aren't in the immediate area. Each meal includes a soup, salad, or spring roll- they are each delicious!! Ambiance is lovely.

Cashew chicken lunch special

We were craving Thai food for lunch and ordered through GrubHub. I got the cashew chicken and appreciated that their top dishes were labeled as recommended and that I was able to directly choose spice levels. It came as a lunch special, and I loved the soup and spring roll that came with it. My husband went for pad Thai and loved that too. The rice could use a bit more moisture, but we look forward to coming in person soon to try it fresh, as that's always the best way to enjoy a new dish.

Vibes: Seem to be primarily a DoorDash or delivery place but the service was very fast. It is good for dine in too. I got the pad see ew. It came out fast and hot. The noodles were great with mild spicy flavor. Thai Basil is used and that was one of the highlights because it really adds Thai flavor to the entire dish. Side of Tom yum soup. The veggies are very well stir fried. There is Carrot, bell pepper, crispy crunchy lettuce, and broccoli and they all have a slight stir fry char and aren't undercooked either. The same goes for the egg. Execution was very good because it is not swimming in weird sauce it's properly stir fried and seasoned. Portion size was just right and I had a little to take home for leftovers. $13 made this very very affordable.

Unassuming restaurant in the middle of a shopping center? They also have an amazing lunch special with prices you can't get with quick food options? Fresh and delicious? Sign me up! Boss and I decided to get lunch at the first place that caught our eye and so glad it was Thai Papaya! It is a very simple restaurant with just a few tables but what it may 'lack' in vibe it more than 'makes up for' in food and service. For lunch you get an entree and spring roll for about $10. $10?! You can't get much of anything for $10 anymore (fully leaning in with this). I got the Tom Yum soup with medium hot spice. Oh baby that broth was made with love and layers. And you know how Thai spice can vary. Well I can handle my spice but Lordy my nose was runnnnning. Spring roll was hot and crispy as it ought to be. The server was sooo sweet and took such great care of us! I'll be returning for more spicy tears.

I stopped in on the way to Gator Motorsports which is just down the road. I came in and was able to order my meal and be eating in less than 10 minutes. The food was very good and I will have to say it was worth stopping in. If I am in the area again, and I do get over here on occasion. I would be happy to stop in for a meal. The staff took very good care of me as well.

Chicken Pad Thai with Crab Rangoon and Tom Yum Soup

I found Thai Papaya on Yelp, it is located near my office. I ordered food Togo on the phone and it was very easy. The food was prepared quickly and the order was accurate. I ordered the lunch portion of chicken pad Thai, which came with a cup of Tom Yum soup, my FAVORITE! I love the flavor of Tom yum soup, it is delicious! I also ordered an appetizer, crab Rangoon. The food was portioned well and it was delicious! I will definitely be back!

Fried rice.

We have been coming here for a few years. Love the pineapple fried rice. Overall, seems to be one of the best regarding flavor when compared to many others that are just the same ole same ole. The place is clean and well worth the try. It's good enough we drive 35 minutes to get here, bypassing many others.

Our absolute favorite Thai place! We have been coming here almost weekly! My favorite is the Kao Soy.

My delicious authentic tasting crab rangoons with sweet n sour sauce.

Usually don't go to Thai often but this place wasn't bad, my friends all loved their Thai curry entrees and pad Thai. I got crab rangoons and an order of their fried rice which has egg in it. It was well seasoned and tasted great! The crab rangoons tasted more authentic and had more crab as well. I would go again , the server was friendly, the service was pretty efficient the food was all delicious and of good quality a little better than most Asian take out style. We actually ate inside, wasn't anything special but was clean and tidy.

Yum...Padd Ka Na bottom; Padd Kee Mow top!
Funk D.

This, our second outing at Thai Papaya, and we again are in a small cozy spartan dinning room with great big Thai flavor. As good as, if not better than, the Funkster standard...Thai Lanna. This chilly pre-Thanksgiving Friday evening saw an app of steamed marinated ground pork dumplings (4 @ $5.99). Entree plates ($11.99 ea.) of Padd Kee Mow-stir fried wide noodle with banana peppers, white onions, napa, broccoli, carrots, garlic and Thai basil; and Padd Ka Na-stir fried mixed veggies (the complete veggie bin) in a homemade brown sauce. Each entree had choice of meat plus soup, fried spring roll or thai salad. The service was easy and relaxed, just the way we Funksters like it. Meal time is always the best time of the day and for the Delectable Mrs. Funk and I, Thai Papaya just may have raised the Thai-alicious bar! Stop in and you too, may be... Fit to be Thai-ed!

Business was quite brisk and the quality of the fare made it evident why that was. Parking is a little tricky but not too bad to navigate. There is some street parking but one of the pay surface lots or garages is probably the best bet. We spent $8.26 for two hours ($7 + fee) to park in the lot in front of the Bottleworks. It was a 3-minute walk. We were seated right away when we walked in. We were perhaps a little fortunate as I think next time I'd make a reservation. The one thing that was off-putting was the fact that they put a time limit on our meal. I thought I heard 90 minutes and my colleague thought 2 hours. We were not planning to be there any longer than that, but we all three thought that to be a negative. I understand why they do that, but they should re-think their approach to that policy. We chose to sit outside as it was a very nice evening. Their patio was nicely arranged and was a rather pleasant spot for a meal. Our server, Apple, did a good job taking care of us. The menu featured some excellent Thai and Southeast Asian choices. We started with the Spring Rolls which were wonderfully crispy and tasted very good. My colleagues had the Steak Drunken Noodles and the Chili Basil Pork and both returned good reports. I had the Penang Curry Chicken and was extremely happy with that. The spice level was perfect and it was quite tasty. Our final bill with food, drink, tax and tip was $101. At just under $34 per person, we were quite happy with the value. I'll look forward to returning.

It's arriving at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening and being the ONLY patrons in the entire restaurant and waiting 25 mins for chicken satay and 30 minutes for entrees. It seems like more restaurants are prioritizing DoorDash and To-GO orders rather than people who come to enjoy the experience. It's beautifully decorated and has great ambiance. They even have a Pride flag for June. By the time our food arrived I was too hungry to take photos of it and we had to box up most of it to make it to our next destination on time. It's too bad the food takes forever because I LOVE their food. The menu is quite extensive and they have things not many other Thai places have near me. Sadly I will not go back for dinner any time soon.

But for however long we had to wait for everything (menus, drinks, to order, our food, the checks), the food made up for it! When I visit a new-to-me Thai restaurant, I usually get the pad Thai or convince someone I'm dining with to get the pad Thai so I can try it. Pad Thai is my litmus test! The pad Thai here at Chiang Mai Thai Noodle was excellent. Perhaps some of the best pad Thai I've eaten in Indy. It wasn't too sweet, which was nice. Sometimes, pad Thai can get a little cloying, but this one was perfectly balanced. I got it with shrimp, which were great and perfectly cooked. Like I mentioned, I visited with a big group. We all got something different, and I also got to try the Crispy Spring Roll. They ain't kidding -- this is one crispy spring roll. The outside shatters with every bite. I think when I come back, I'm definitely getting my own order of these. Other people at my table got things like curry, tom kha soup and crispy basil duck, and every person loved their dishes. The portion sizes are also huge! I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, here. One thing to note: Their spice level goes from 1 to 6, with 6 being the hottest.
