My wife and I go to this restaurant at least once a week. Dominick the manager is very helpful and service orientated as well as the staff.Sometimes they are very busy but always stop by to check on us.This is our favorite restaurant as there are so many choices on the menu and the portions are so massive, I usually have to take home. Their Chow Mein combo is really great and plentiful, cant get enough but if you just want shrimp or beef or chicken only it comes that way too! They also have a great Sushi menu. The Ribs are out of this world cooked with a sauce and pineapple!! Curry,curry curry! Combo fried rice!! I can go on and on as the menu is incredible.Never had a bad meal and lots of choices on beer and wine.(Brown rice beer is my favorite and high in alcohol content but a great beer) Please try this place out if you are a fan of Thai and Peruvian!! read more

I've eaten here countless times over the past 8 years or so. It was my go to thai place in camarillo. It's never been the greatest food, but for the price and value, it was way better than the alternative places in town. But I've never experienced what occurred last night. I ordered the dinner special which is yellow curry and pad thai. Pretty basic! The yellow curry was as it usually is, kinda thick and a bit too sweet, but whatever... it's consistent with how they do it. The problem was the pad thai. It smelled like fish, and tasted like fish, and not in a good way. My friend who also ordered the pad thai had the same thing going on. I waited for the waitress to come by, and 5 minutes pass without seeing her. She finally comes into the room and goes and takes the order of another table. I wait until she's through taking their order, I call her over and she doesn't hear me and leaves the room. Who knows how long it will be before she returns, so I grab our plates and take them over to the kitchen area to tell her they taste and smell like fish. She tells me, "no they don't" "there's no fish in the pad thai" then proceeds to tell me that there is fish in the pad thai, just in the form of fish sauce. I was a bit perturbed by her indignant and combative attitude but she offered to re-make the food, this time without the "fish sauce" The food came back out, and it was just ok; Rubbery, dry chicken and just kinda bland overall. What absolutely killed it for me was the service and the attitude of the waitress. When she was clearing our plates she asked if it was any better. And I said, it was definitely better but wasn't really as good as I've had in the past. She then says, "I don't know what you're talking about because you never order pad thai there, and that it's the same one" and they didn't change a thing. I was pissed! You tell me that you're going to re-make my food without the fish sauce as I requested, and you go ahead and make it the same way?! Then she proceeds to tell me that she knows I get the yellow curry and that I don't know what I'm talking about. I couldn't believe she was arguing with me and telling me I don't know what I order. This is a great place to dine in or get take out. The food is always great. My favorites are the Thai bbq chicken and the chicken yellow curry. I have eaten from here dozens of times but I have only dined in 3 times. Everytime the sevice, staff and food have met my expectations. The dinning area was clean and the waitress refilled my water faster then I could drink it. A to go order takes 15 to 20 mins. When I dine in roughly 10 to 15 mins and your food will be hot and ready! read more

I must say that this food is excellent and a monks the best thai food I've had stateside. The yellow curry is excellent and the chicken satay is definitely the best I've had stateside. Literally one of, if not, the best yellow curry I've ever tasted, from any type of cuisine. The service is incredibly friendly and efficient. This place is a family run restaurant that has some of the best tasting Thai food I've ever eaten! The chili is grown on site and is amazing! They have great lunch deals. I just had a wonderful dinner at Thai Peru! There was a little bit of a wait for service, but they were quite busy (it was right around 6pm--the restaurant was full and there were many takeout orders). Both the hostess and my waitress were courteous, friendly, and efficient. The Thai Iced Tea and Mango Curry were simply wonderful. I have mixed thoughts about this place. Walking into a restaurant at 12pm and finding it empty always makes me nervous. The decor is nice, but the dining room was uncomfortably warm. The service was just ok. No smile or greeting from the young woman that seated and served us. She was good about refilling drinks, but other than that I can't say anything positive. My green curry was tasty, and my friend enjoyed her Pad Thai. We both found it weird that the server brought us tiny containers for our leftovers... mine wouldn't even completely fit. Very strange. I have been here a few times. I only truly enjoyed my experience the first time I went. Since then it has gone downhill. Even from the first time I went, I found the servers unhelpful. They do not seem to be concerned about attending to the needs of their patrons even though they have never once been busy while I have been there. They lack of service aside, the food has been decent. I wouldn't write home about it, but I have thought it was ok. The problem here is the portions. The prices are good, but the portion size has been ridiculously small. I don't remember it being as small the first time I went, but since then I have left feeling hungry. I'd rather pay a couple more dollars and get more than two small pieces of tofu with my meal. I will not be eating here again unless I feel my diet needs some assistance because I know there is no way I will overeat. read more

Name of the restaurant was intriguing "Thai Peru Restaurant" so I thought I'd try it out because it's both the type of cuisine I adore. Came in to have dinner with my family but there wasn't anyone in the front to greet us, not til after a minute did we see someone walk to us and ask how many were being seated. It did have Peruvian and Thai dishes on the menu but no roasted Peruvian chicken which is known for being a popular Peruvian dish. Ordered shrimp pad Thai but the waiter ended up serving us chicken pad Thai instead. Also ordered the beef salad & crab friend rice. Crab fried rice was the better dish out of all 3, big chunks of crab meat and seasoned well. Chicken pad Thai was sub par and was too sweet for my liking, not to mention it was quite yellow and watery than the pad thai's I've had. Plating is the pad Thai wasn't that great it, just had some bean sprouts and carrot shreds on it, not even green scallions to brighten up the sad looking pad Thai. Other dish was the beef salad. Fish sauce in the dressing was super strong smelling, it didn't taste fresh either. I felt like it was missing more herbs or seasonings other than fish sauce and such to make it taste better. It def looked better than it tasted. The spice plate that has the chili flakes and sauces weren't that potent either. Inside of the restaurant was ok, typical Thai decor and setting but food was mediocre imo. I'll probably only go back for the crab fried rice. read more

The portion size is also quite small compared to the other restaurants that serve the same food. I've been faithfully yelping new eateries and the night I was too lazy to, got slammed with the worst luck. A very popular, almost always safe chicken Satay and Pad Thai both were flavored with residual cooking oil -probably made in the same wok used to cook the table next to us' seafood fried rice. Also not being a fan of "please pass me the hypertension," I almost threw up on the first bite tasting nothing but a high dose of sodium. The service matched the crappy food and ostentatious decor. Ordered on Grubhub, after waiting an hour for delivery...I called the restaurant and they said they just got my order, which I know wasn't correct and most likely they had just noticed my order. Another 45 minutes and the food was delivered, but it was the worst Thai food I've had in my life. The pad Thai noodles were bright yellow and looked more like curry on it. I somewhat liked this place. It wasn't the kind of place that I had to have everyday, the food is well, just "ok". On occasion I'd stop by during lunch and order a vegetarian meal but stopped. Now and then I'd go and buy just a white rice to go. I never had any issues, but it looks like they did today. We were happy to find Thai Peru open on Christmas day. We went with friends who were not familiar with Thai food and did not want anything spicy. We started with the Chicken Larb and Sizzling Spinach with Chicken (in a light peanut sauce). Both of these dishes were excellent. The kitchen did a fine job keeping the dishes mild except for the Pad Kee Mao (my favorite but to me it wasn't spicy but I had used up most of the diced Thai chili peppers on the other dishes). The others' favorite was the Pad Prik King, followed by the Pad Thai. They also liked the Combo Fried Rice, but I would have passed on it. We will definitely come back with our friends the next time we are in Camarillo. read more

Unfortunately, I have to give the lowest rating for Thai Peru. I hope we just caught them on a bad night and our experience was not representative of their typical offering or I fear they won't survive much longer. It was bad from beginning to end. We started with a very poor greeting and after waiting at the reception for too long we were finally ushered to a booth where we again waited for way too long before being helped. After ordering soft drinks to start they tasted like really bad tap water and we had to return them. We instead ordered cocktails which never arrived even after reminding the staff twice. Our waitress never checked on us after taking our order. The food took about 30 mins to be served and we were not served at the same time. The food tasted average at best but certainly not worth the wait and poor service we suffered. The prices also were higher than other Thai food restaurants we have tried. Another really bad thing was the front door would slam every time someone came in and make the most disturbing sound. Also, some guests would stand with the door open because no one was greeting them and the cold air was blowing in from outside making it miserably chilly. The decor was shabby and there were not enough staff on the job to service both the takeout orders and the dine in orders. I felt really bad for the staff because I could tell they were sorry for the service but unable to do anything about it. I can't in good conscience tell anyone to come here. read more

So, I'm a really picky eater and new to Thai Food in general, so I've only gotten the chicken Pad Thai, and the red curry with tofu, but both are amazing. The restaurant itself is in a convenient location, always clean, open long hours, and the service is quick, friendly and super polite. I've been there MANY times since being introduced to the place about a year and a half ago, both to dine in and to pick up takeout orders, and have never had a reason to complain. I've also had Pad Thai at many other locations throughout the west coast since, and am always very happy to come back to Thai Peru. read more

If I can post a zero stars i would for this place Started working next door and this was my second time for lunch. First time they has some chicken dish that could fit in a coffee cup for $10. There was more onions than chicken but I said lets give it another chance. Few days later i went there and I ordered ceviche dish for $12 and what a joke of food, if you wan to call it food. They made is on a fly - with just fish which was raw and chevy. I had to spit the food out as you could not chew it. I have eaten ceviche before but this was terrible terrible terrible. I was mad as hell and I called the waitress and told her that it was garbage and not ceviche. She told me "but you ate it" I said yes I ate the potato and cold corn and pointed out to the jewed fish that was on the plate that I had to spit it out. I told her that I will pay for it but will never go there again. Now I know why the place is always empty during lunch hour. I have eated ceviche at the other place in Ventura and that place knows how to make it. I even told them to go to Ventura restaurant and find out from them how to make ceviche. I knew it was a joke when all they had was leftover fish pieces and no schrimp or scallops and other white seafood. Also they served it over a bed of lettuce which was crazy, there was more lettuce than seafood if you want to call it seafood. I wish i can post a picture of that garbage. I am not sure why this review was filtered, but it was an accurate description of our experience. By far one of my worst dining experiences ever. We decided to eat dinner there last night before seeing a movie. We arrived, we were seated and we were given menus. We were the ONLY people there. The waitress came back about 5 minutes later to take our drink order. When she brought back our drinks she asked what we wanted. When we proceeded to order, we were told there were only three choices because they had a catering even earlier that day. our choices were Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Chow Mien, or Yellow Curry Chicken. What a disappointment since we wanted to try the Peruvian food. If they were going to have a limited menu, it would have been nice if that had been posted on the door, or we were told when we were seated. We did not have time go somewhere else, so we ordered the daily special of Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry. The food was sub par, and you had to hunt the the chicken. The waitress was neither pleasant or unpleasant, she acted like she did not want to be there. She never smiled once, she did not ask if we wanted refills of our drinks, and gave us our bill without asking if we wanted any dessert. There probably was not any dessert available since they had the function earlier in the day. We will NOT be going back. read more

So I just had a great dining experience at this restaurant. The server was polite, and knowledgeable of the menu offerings, and since I'm transition vegan she let me know about their vegetarian options to help me decided what to order. I had the spring rolls which was served warm and with a delicious sweet & sour dipping sauce, followed by Pad Kee Mao (a noodle over salad with mushrooms & tofu) it was spicy and delicious & they offer a spice tray with four different spicy mixes to increase the spice level as desired, which I thought was convenient, finally with my check in I got a free macaroon and all I can say is WOW so delicious the baker himself offered it to me and explained how he makes it, I am excited to come back and try more desserts when I'm not so full! Great experience, great food, great service! Don't know why it was so empty maybe the time I went was a little late for lunch but too early for dinner. read more
