Pad Thai was delicious! My family and I also got the eight nights which was really good as it has a black bean, garlic sauce flavor.

I have dined in or gotten carryout from this place more times than I can count! Very authentic and spicy food. My personal favorites are the Phad Thai w/ chicken and shrimp, the Sen Mee Phad Sea Eaw, and the Kow Lhad Nha Grapow w/pork. I have tried a variety of other things from their menu, and have never had a mediocre dish - I just simply cannot recall most of them! Long story short, if you enjoy Thai food or spicy asian food in general, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

Crab Rangoon is out of this world! I could eat a whole order and not feel ashamed! They are small and flaky with a wonderful taste! Highly recommend these! I like the hot and sour soup! Phad Thai was soooooo good! My friend had flat noodles with brocolli something that she loved. They have King and Ann Chicken that looks really good that I want to try. Seriously, give something different a chance. Pad Thai again? Really? Really? :) So get the beef noodle soup! It's like the flagship meal in Thailand...I think hehe. I wish I liked Thai Place more than I do. The food is fine. But it doesn't stand out as much as some of the really great Thai spots we've frequented. What I'd say is if you want "safe" Thai food that will remind you of most Thai restaurants you've been to, then this is the place for you. But if you like to see a twist of traditional dishes, you might be dissapointed. I've found the service to be somewhat hit and miss. Completely depends on your waitress. Most are friendly. This is THE go to for Thai!! Favorite dish is the Pad Se Ew. The flavor is spicy. If you know your Thai spice level then you are all good but if you like HOT dishes get Medium. If really Hot then get medium plus. No spice is just that and mild and mild plus will give you a little. That's something we have always experimented with when ordering. Always delicious! read more

It's not bad, just not authentic at all -- the curry, for instance, was way too heavy on the coconut milk and thin as all get out. I've been here once and it was with a table of 20 people ( no reservation, just last minute "hi, can you seat us?" ) Staff was great, the head waitress is patient, tiny=fast, and most importantly has the memory of an elephant. I was craving Shrimp Pad Thai in the worst way. I found this place on yelp and read the reviews and figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the fried dumplings to start off. Can you say AMAZING? This is one of my favorites Thai restaurants in KC, but I hadn't been here for lunch until today. The lunch portions and prices are comparable to other Thai restaurants however, their lunch entrees come with a really delicious ginger chicken rice soup and two pieces of crab rangoon. I was in the mood for Chicken Pad Thai on a Sunday after 5pm. Everything nearby was closed so I drove over to Thai Place to try it out, never been here before. I have to say I only called in the chicken pad Thai to go, so I can't comment on the inside of the store or their serving customer service. However my whole experience was great calling in my order. The most important part...the food was amazing!!!! We will definitely be back again...probably coming here from now on if we have a Thai food craving! BEWARE on delivery orders. On January 30, 2019, I placed an online order at 5:23 pm for $49.56. I checked my email at 5:39 pm and found an email time stamped at 5:29 pm stating my food would not be delivered until 7:29 pm: Two hours after placing the order. Believing there must be a mistake, I called the store at 5:40 pm and was informed the time was accurate and the driver already had my food out for delivery. I inquired as to why it would take two hours and was advised the driver took 6 or 7 orders at a time. At the time of the order, it was 16 DEGREES outside. The driver arrived at 6:45 pm so the food was in his car for a minimum of one hour and five minutes. Obviously we check the food and it's cold. We hand it back over to the driver to return it to the store. I am not paying $50 for cold food. I called the store and requested the food be remade and I would come pick it up. The phone was handed to the manager, who was identified as PK, who apologized and stated they would remake it. BUT it would take 30 minutes because they were busy. I pointed out the fact we ordered at 5:23 and had already waited over an hour. I asked why our ticket could not be put to the front. Again I was told the kitchen was busy and the best she could do was "maybe 20 mins". A restaurant survives because of its clientele. You would think a manager would not only offer to remake the food, but post haste and maybe add a free appetizer, discount, coupon, anything. I was not asking for anything free and would have been satisfied just to have my food remade. Instead, I was informed my order would take 30 minutes. It was out the door faster than that an hour prior. At this point, I cancelled my order and requested a refund Very disappointed. read more

Much to my delight, my experience at Thai Place in Overland Park took me straight back to those wonderful Thai meals that I was served in their old location in Westport. I was so sad when they closed my favorite Thai food restaurant, The Thai Place, in Westport several years ago. Since that time I have eaten my way through many different other Thai establishments but unfortunately never experienced those perfect flavors from the old days in Westport. Living in Midtown, KC I had forgotten that Thai Place continued to operate its original location on 87th Street in Overland Park despite them closing their other locations throughout the Metro. Thank goodness that they kept at least one Thai Place open because it is absolutely delicious! Let me describe our dinner for you...we started with the Thai Spring Rolls and Thai Egg Rolls, both of which are delightful starters. I then ordered the Phat Thai with shrimp. This was the dish that I kept coming back to the Westport location for and it appears as if the recipe has not changed one bit; it is still just as scrumptious! We also ordered the Crispy Garlic Shrimp, which are whole prawns (you get a lot of them!) served over a bed of sautéed veggies in a light crispy garlic sauce. The person I ate with said, "this is the best shrimp dish that I can ever remember eating!" We also ordered the Galanga soup which is quite similar to a Tom Yum soup. It is has creamy coconut milk with mushrooms, lemongrass, galanga root, ginger, and chicken (my choice). Possibly the best part of the meal was the side of fried rice that we ordered! This rice is second to none! It is soft, fluffy, and knocks your tastebuds out with a punch of flavor. Lastly, we had the Thai Iced Tea, which I could drink by the gallon & we shared the mango sticky rice, one of my favorite desserts and at the Thai Place they are not skimpy on the mango or the sweet condensed milk sauce. Both of these sweet treats were outstanding! The food at Thai Place easily garners 5 out of 5 stars! Also, the service is top-notch as well! The only reason that I give Thai Place four stars is: it seems to be a little bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, the portions are large and the experience is one of a kind but it just seems as if items are just a little pricey. Regardless of price, I will make Thai Place on 87th Street as much a part of my dinner rotation as possible! Notes: if you come during lunch, the prices are significantly lower. read more

A friend suggested we go here for lunch. I had the crab fried rice and it was tasty. The only thing wasn't much crab in it. But more than enough food. Can have a salad or soup to start. I went with the salad, had a nice light dressing, but I didn't finish because I wanted to save room for entree and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was good and some do come with the meal. The wonton is lighter than most and the filling is creamy. Entrees can be prepared at your preferred heat level or you can add spice with the spice rack. Reasonably priced. To put it simply, this is GREAT Thai food! It's a modest restaurant in a storefront that has great service and food. My favorite is the Chicken Panang - a coconut curry based dish - like a soup that goes well over the accompanying steamed rice. My son always orders the Chicken Pad Thai and my wife the Shrimp Pad Thai. If you order mild it will still have a kick which I enjoy. Order medium if you like it hot. I had such high hopes for this place based on reviews. Came in Sunday for lunch and the restaurant itself I was greatly impressed with. From the design, decor, seating, everything is nice here. Seems upscale from other places. With that being said I was really hyping the food up for myself. We ordered crab rangoon, galanga soup (tom kha), panang curry, pad see ew, and the full house. The flaws I experienced were on the food itself. The galanga soup in comparison to other tom kha's was the broth was thick. It was almost chowder like. It was also really sweet for my taste. After that I had high hopes for the rest of the food. Once it came out it looked really good. If you've read my travels I've had a problem with KC thai places getting panang curry right. It literally tastes like peanut butter sauce in a bowl. Just so strong in the peanut. I took one bite and did not like it, but when I took it home and let it cool down and took a few bites it was reasonable. I suppose when all the flavors marry it mellows the peanut a bit...The pad see ew was great, and really, you cant ever get it wrong, so thats good. My bf craved seafood so he ordered the full house and is notorius for ordering wrong at places but he insisted. It did not look very appetizing, and it tasted really mushy. Maybe thats because of the noodles mixed in idk. The seafood was not very good either. we ate the 3 shrimp in there and called it quits..did I mention it was priced at a hefty $19.99? Idk what was worse though, the food or the awful gut feeling I had when I boxed everything up except that entire plate and they asked me if I wanted to box it up and I said no.
