My mom and I dropped by for Sunday lunch and tried out their lunch specials. The inside is really spacious, and the service was pretty good. We ordered the Pad Kee Mao Noodles (which they only serve on Sundays and Mondays) and the Yellow Curry (we chose chicken as the protein). If you love basil, you will definitely like the Pad Kee Mao. It is way more savory than Pad See Ew, which is usually a bit sweeter. Personally, I still prefer Pad See Ew, but it was cool to try. The only downside was the pork meat; it was pretty chewy, and I really wish it had been more tender. The Yellow Curry came with rice, and we ordered it mildly spicy. It tasted okay, nothing mind-blowing, but a decent option if you don't want too much heat. Overall, the prices are really reasonable for the portion sizes, and the vibe is nice.

Always a 5 star visit for us when we come here! They were awarded the best for 2025 for city of Alhambra! So glad they received well deserved recognition. The team here is very attentive and friendly. They still get my vote for the best orange chicken ever! Will continue to come back!

The food wasn't the tastiest Thai food. I tried this place as it came recommended to me about 8 years ago and today I decided to try a new Thai restaurant fir Father's Day dinner, and I really want to CRY! The service I can't comment on as our food was delivered but I did request condiments, however didn't receive any, I also requested utensils for Shrimp Pad Thai and received spoons, 2 small shrimps in our order of Pad Thai noodles. DRY overcooked Orange Chicken, weird texture and looking Calamari with 1 small sauce. The Thai tea was also disappointing for me. My tastebuds are more discriminating than my Husband and he wasn't really impressed. My Pad Thai, and Orange Chicken were a BOGO, so a double disappointment. My credit card was assaulted as well as our tastebuds! One and DONE!

Thai Purple has always been one of our fave Thai restaurants in the SGV - they have the BEST crab rangoon around, we've loved almost everything we've tried over the years, the staff are always warm and welcoming, it's a great location, and the prices are consistently decent for the area.  Their curries are always fresh and tasty - they have all your typical Thai curry varieties (green, red, yellow and others - and you can adjust your spice level), they use fresh veggies, and their meats are good quality. They have great lunch specials that include an excellent veggie soup and the curries come with a generous amount of rice.  Their pad see ew is also another winner here. Perfect consistency in the noodles, a delectable sauce, and the veggies are tender and delicious. It's my go-to dish here when I'm not in the mood for curry.  I also love their tea varieties! On our last visit I tried their red date tea - it's brewed with longons (similar to lychees) and red dates - it's got an incredible flavor and is the perfect amount of sweet. A great dessert option if you want something lighter - and it's caffeine free so it's a nice post-dinner drink. I'd come back here just for this lol. I love the vibes too - it's very cozy and warm - like eating at an auntie's house lol. Plenty of tables but also booths too and they have a nice fish tank at the front entrance. The location is perfect for a date night - they're right across the street from the movie theater in the main part of Alhambra. We used to come all the time when we lived closer years ago and were happy to see that they're still going strong after all this time!  They have plenty of free parking in the garage located in the back and a back entrance right across from it. The area is very walkable - definitely a great option in Alhambra!

I came here with my girlfriend for a Friday girl's night out dinner. We were seated at a booth, the decor is very Thai and authentic. The ambiance here is always good, the server, Ae, was very helpful and attentive, bringing us our drinks and food as soon as it was cooked. The restaurant got busier during the evening, but there were some available tables. The menu is very good, we picked a salad, soup, appetizer and main dish with two bowls of rice. It was more than enough, we had a little box of one dish for leftovers. The parking structure is in the back, but we came early enough to snag the available parking right behind the restaurant. The restaurant has available food delivery for the local area, and it also has plenty of lunch specials if you come with your friends or family during the lunch hour. I would check this place out, either for a lunch or a dinner with your family or friends, or for a date, they serve several flavorful tea drinks as well as a delicious menu that is sure to please Thai food lovers.

I was so excited to try this spot because my boyfriend used to come here when he was a kid and I LOVEEE! Everything was delicious, made fresh and everyone who works here is just so sweet. Service was so fast! The vibe inside is very comfy feeling. I will definitely be coming back with my family and friends. My boyfriend and I shared... -Pad Thai with shrimp -Fish cakes -Thai fried rice -Wonton Soup -little sesame balls The portions are great, you'll definitely have some to take home if leftovers are your thing (we are leftover people so we always order extra lol). They didn't have the mango sticky rice available this time around but I'm sooo excited to visit again soon to try it!! Definitely give them a visit!

I been passing by this place and a couple of friends recommend it I love Thai food and this place it's delicious every is very tasty flavors are on point, service it ok ambience it's very familiar

Had a good lunch with family, the food was flavorful and lots of variety to pick up, the portion was just right. Our favorite item was the Lemon Fish, not only did it come out with the WOW presentation, the fish was fresh, the sizzling plate kept boiling, and the lemon aroma was flowing around the table. The a-ok item was the seafood soup, it had some seafood but not even enough for four people and was more like a mushroom tam yam soup, I would skip that and get something new for our next visit!

What's up: Lunchtime with the coworkers! We decided to grab Thai and found this place after doing a quick search on Yelp. Parking: There's a parking structure nearby that's right off N 1st Street and W Main St. From there, you can access the restaurant's rear entrance. Environment: We came in through the rear entrance and walked up to the front. The staff seated us quickly and provided menus for us to browse. We decided to go with the lunch special and there were several options to choose from. Staff members were friendly. What was ordered: - Lunch Combo Set: Green Curry with Pork, Thai Fried Pork Ribs, Rice, Iced Thai Tea (yummy creamy curry) - Lunch Combo Set: Mint Leaf Chicken, Thai BBQ Chicken, Rice, Iced Thai Tea (Chicken was a bit dry) - Lunch Combo Set: Mongolian Beef, Fried Tofu, Rice, Iced Thai Tea (tasty beef) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The food was yummy and was just enough to hit the spot. The Thai Tea was delicious as well and it was not overly sweet while still being flavorful; they also have a less sweet option too. Credit cards are accepted with a minimum of $20 transaction and a maximum of 2 cards per table.

The restaurant is really cute in the inside and very relaxing, my son loved the aquarium. This is my first time here, and love to try new food options for Thai food. I had to try some of their avocado roles. Ordered some curry and pad-see-ew. It was a lot of food and so delicious. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Coming back to try the young coconut rice

I stopped by to pick up my to go orders. I was able to get credit back from the missing steamed rice and claimed free pad Thai from the restaurant, as promised by the owner's review. I greatly appreciate the gesture and attention to detail. I received all the items ordered. The older lady I encountered said I didn't need to write a review on Yelp about it. But that is my choice. I always ask for condiment sauce and honestly it's like pulling teeth to get sauces for to go orders. Again, just stating my experience here. Greatly appreciated.

The Yellow Curry is pure comfort food; the broth is incredibly rich, smooth, and aromatic, with perfectly cooked potatoes and veggies. On top of the great taste, the portion sizes are very generous. You definitely get your money's worth here, with plenty of food to leave you full (and probably take some home). Will definitely be ordering from here again! Highly recommend.

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.

My only complaint is that some of the mushrooms in the soup were undercooked. The cream cheese wontons had the perfect amount of crunch and crispiness. The chicken satay was cooked to perfection! I was genuinely impressed since most places that make this usually overcook their chicken making it extremely dry. The crab fried rice had a nice wok hey flavor and was very light. To top our meal off, we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were very sweet and ripe. The rice they paired with it was a bit too hot for my liking. Overall, I would definitely come back! I moved to the SGV a little over a year ago and I have been sorely disappointed by offerings this nook of LA county has to offer *ahem banana bay*. I found myself driving to the SFV or Thai Town whenever I was too lazy to cook Thai food on my own. I decided to take a gamble with this restaurant and I am so very glad that I did. It's so good and authentic that I have come out of yelp retirement (Yelp Elite 2016-2020) to leave this review. I ordered four things as take out: Issan Sausage, Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken, Spicy Fried Crispy Cat Fish, and Drunken Noodles. I was told that they were out of the Kra Pow Century Egg and stewed pork leg over rice. Hopefully, I'll get to try it next time! Issan Sausage: Good portions. Flavor is very good, a little sour, a little salty, and a hint of sweetness. I think the flavors could be a bit more bold with the sour but overall the flavors profile is as it should be. Frying it also added a nice crispiness to it. Spicy Fried crispy Catfish: Flavors were really good. Sweet foods is typically not usually in my flavor profile, but this is one of the few sweet entrees I actually like. Catfish can be a bit more fried but that is moreso a preference on my part. Drunken Noodle Beef: Good char on the noodles. Flavor was really good as well. Not that much beef but the star of the show are the noodles. I was a tad confused on the egg in my drunken noodle but to each their own. I would probably order it without the egg next time because it does change the texture a bit. Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken: Now here's where it gets interesting! Tantawan actually uses holy basil (Kra Pow). It's harder to find but it has a very distinct flavor that Thai-American cuisine has for the most part substituted due to scarcity with Thai Basil (Horapha). I don't think you can get more authentic than actually using the right herb. Funnily enough, I think it can throw off people that have never had authentic Kra Pow as my partner said it tasted herbally. Thai food can be very hit and miss even among the Thai community as we all have different preferences when it comes to the holy trinity of sweet, salty, and sour. I am personally on the spectrum of sweet should be hinted at and never the forward flavor. Tantawan with the dishes I ordered definitely held to my flavor profile. Very well cooked and good flavor profile. I didn't have to add any seasoning as everything was cooked just right. I called my take out in and they said it would be ready in 20 and it was when I arrived. Even as the food sat in my passenger seat as I drove home I could tell from the smell emanating from the take-out bag that the food was going to be good. Quick and courteous service!

Ambiance: open seating, tables in center, booths lining the perimeter...some booth cushions torn, (seen better days), but we got a nice booth. The table is scootable, so mom was able to slide in. We were there at 11:30 am, my sister in law does takeout from this place often for dinner but it was her first time dining in for lunch, and it was my mom's first time too. We ordered my sister in laws favs from the regular menu, but they have a nice good deal lunch menu too... We ordered: *Thai iced coffee 4/5 (too much ice, but nice strong coffee flavor). Condensed milk separation so stir it or blow gentle bubbles thru the straw to mix... *Drunken noodles, great flavor great inviting smell but the portion was good for two, harder to share for three/four. Probably bec it's served on a plate not a platter. 5/5 for flavor. *Loved the chili basil eggplant with deep fried tofu, nice flavor, could really taste the Thai basil, the fried tofu was kinda dry so slightly overcooked. 4/5 for yumminess. We'll be back to try the lunch menu. Comfortable low key place to dine in.

Fried rice is ok. BBQ chicken was dry. The place was packed by the time we left on a Friday night. The ambiance is the dated Asian feel from pre-2000. They got a fish tank!
