Service is so poor, I'm not sure if the food is any good. I ordered take out at 6 PM (after being on hold for 5 minutes), and was told to come in 25-30 minutes. I arrived at 6:25, and stood there, and stood there, and stood there. Staff walked by, but would not make eye contact. Finally at 6:40 I said to the cashier/waitperson no one has even asked my name. The women said, wait one second, and she walked by me 3-4 for times. Finally, she asked me, and I gave her and a gentlemen my name. At 6:45 he informed me the kitchen was backed up and would I like a glass of water while I waited. No estimate of how long, and no sorry. I said that would not work, and he said okay I'll cancel the order. Again, no sorry. The staff is clearly busy (and not intentionally rude), but politeness should come first. Service at Thai Pan a few blocks down is much better and the wait is 10-15. I just wanted to try something else, and now know better. read more

I typically only prefer to give good reviews, but I was quite taken aback by my last experience, I had to say something! I give two stars because it's an intimate and beautiful setting. Oh, and our waitress was sweet. My boyfriend knows that Thai food is my absolute favorite, so we decided to check it out on Tuesday evening. First of all, we saw that they close at 9, and it was close to 8, so we decided to call in our order for pick up. First time I called, some lady answered and immediately demanded, in a rude tone, to put me on hold. I waited several minutes, and she never came back. So I called again, and got the same response. At this point, it was 8 o'clock. So we thought, "I guess they are busy so we will just head over there!" We walked in at 8:15 to a completely dead restaurant and a completely rude lady...I mean woman! (In my book, a lady isn't rude). She asked if she could help us, and we said..."We'd like to eat, please". We quickly ordered on the account of feeling rushed, after our menus were practically thrown at us. Our food came out very quickly! My boyfriend ordered a salad that was "just okay" and I ordered spring rolls that tasted as if they had been sitting out for hours in the kitchen before they served them to me. OR they were from someone else's plate, prior to us. Who knows! My boyfriend tasted his salad, which was way too bland, and wanted some of their hot sauce, and some waters. He patiently waited for someone to come out, and finally the same woman who greeted us says to my boyfriend "Do you need something?!" Again, in a very rude tone. He then let her know, and our sweet and quiet waitress brought us the sauce and waters. Then at around 8:30, another customer walks in, and the woman immediately says "Can we help you?!" And the customer looked up and said, "Ummm I'd like to eat?" The woman then seats the customer and immediately says to her "Just so you know, we close in 15 minutes!" So then the customer looks at us and says "I unfortunately received the same treatment last week. I thought I'd give it another try, but never again!" Well, that evening they lost 3 customers that we know of, as we have no desire to go back and eat mediocre Thai food and receive extremely rude service! Not to mention, word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertisement. Not a smart choice on their part. read more

For the crispy rolls or spring rolls is very yummy because they did by themself (for those who think that they didn't make it by themself plz use your little brain b4 said that it doesn't look like homemade. If you can deal with the HORRENDOUS service, the food is delicious. We sat outside and waited 25 minutes for someone to take our drink order, after going on and inquiring about our server three times. We literally had to go in and force them to grab us drinks. I lived in Thailand for numerous years, my wife is Thai and our children were born there. My wife is in Hawaii visiting her sister and helping her with her Thai restaurant in Honolulu which serves 5 star Thai food. My wife is a 5 star Thai chef too. So my kids were missing Thai food so I thought I'll give this place a try, it's small and looks nice inside and was playing some cool music, but not Thai. This should have been a dead give away to not order their food. So we ordered the food for take away. When we get home we were in for a bad surprise. My kids say "this isn't Thai food!" They serve the worst and most unauthentic Thai food in the world. It's hard to mess up Kao Pad (Thai fried rice) but they did by not chopping up the chicken and excluding most of the ingredients including the eggs. This was closer to Spanish rice than a Thai dish The Penang Gai (Chicken curry with coconut) was watered down, didn't have kaffir lime leaves (a MUST!) didn't have Thai Basil, another must. I'll give them a little credit here because it tasted okay...but it's not Penang in the luscious traditional way. And this is where my one star instead of a two star kicked in. I called the restaurant and the owner, whom speaks perfect English without a hint of Thai in it, didn't care that we were unhappy with the food. I spoke to him in Thai and he responded in English when I told his food wasn't real Thai food and I won't be back, he said: "Okay" . He did not offer to have us return the food. He didn't care. I asked him if he had ever been to Thailand and ate food in the country. He said yes. Then how in the hell do you serve this lousy Thai food??? Anyone that likes this restaurant doesn't know what Thai food is. Give this place a miss unless you want watered down poorly prepared non Thai food. read more

Visited on a Friday night, place was busy, we just got the last table that someone had just vacated. This place is teeny tiny, so not a good spot for groups. Nice for a date though. The decor is cute, white and clean, and the service was nice, everyone was very friendly. The food was good. It's pretty hard to ruin Thai food for me unless it's downright bad. I got the Massaman curry with chicken, and my fellow got the eggplant. It was interesting that they put chesnuts in the Massaman curry. The only other time I've had chestnuts is in Thailand. Both dishes were good, not outstanding but tasty for sure. To drink we had Thai iced teas, which were served in pint-sized glasses. I hate it when you order a Thai iced tea and get a chintzy little glass that's gone in one sip, such a cruel tease. The only complaint I had is the charge for the rice. We asked for brown rice with our dishes, received a teeny little plate of rice to share between the two of us. Perhaps a cup size serving. It was a nice mix of brown and red rice, but it was barely enough for one dish, even though were were billed for two servings. Super incredibly chintzy. It's one thing to charge like a dollar or two so people don't get all crazy filling up on free rice, but six dollars for a teeny serving of rice to go with your dish is just silly. Silly I say. The younger lady at the register when I came in to pick up was extremely rude and had the order wrong, but said we did not order it that way. No way she would accept her broken English as an option for t her mistake. We corrected the order, waited for a bit and she rudely handed over our order and it was the tiniest portions I have seen. They were sending a message to us obviously. The place was totally empty. The food is tasty, but they may be hurting or struggling for business. Be aware of that if you go. I love giving good reviews and am sad to have to give this place a bad one...as it is probably family owned. However, I had the Noodles (Pad Thai?) for dinner, which were listed as having scallions, egg, and tofu in them with peanuts on top. The total amount of the last 3 items was about 2 tbs.I couldn't find any egg at all. The scallions were maybe 2 little ones. The tofu was cut in pieces about 1/4" inch. I was shocked. The whole plate was just noddles for about $10. I will never eat here again. read more

So excited this place is 5 minutes from my house in the Target center on El Camino Real! It's tiny and it was packed on a Friday night so we decided to browse at Barnes & Noble while we waited 15 minutes for our table. Since I've been gluten-free, I've yet to find any Thai restaurants with curries I can eat so I was so excited to hear that all their curries are gluten-free as are many of their salads and soups. Husband, daughter and I shared a unique and yummy shrimp salad. He had basil chicken while she had they yellow chicken curry and I had the red panang chicken curry. Plus two jasmine teas, all for $38. Delicious, interesting dishes, generous portions, reasonable price, and speedy, friendly service. Worst To-Go Experience Ever! Don't get in the staff's way or they will push you!! We went there around 6:45pm with my two year old daughter and 4 year old niece and ordered 3 items plus egg rolls. We even tipped $7. They told us it would be 25 minutes. Ok no problem, we went to mcdonalds playplace and returned 35 minutes later. They said it wasn't ready and they would let us know when it was... Whatever, the kids were hungry and getting tired but we waited and checked back after another 30 minutes went by and it wasn't ready. They said that our order was the 2nd in line to be made... Wth!!! By this time it was about 8pm and we decided to ask for a refund because not only was the wait ridiculous, but the staff was so rude to us, literally pushing us (including kids) out of their way without one "Excuse Me" when we were inside inquiring about our order. They never apologized about the wait. They yelled at my mom when she didn't order fast enough. They made dine-in customer orders before ours when they just got there after we had been waiting 30 minutes. These employees were horrible. Also, the prices were the highest I have seen for a Thai restaurant and the place was far from fancy. Pretty basic. They didn't seem to care one bit about us or losing our business. Went here for dinner around 5:30 on a Friday night and was seated right away. Even though the restaurant was pretty small, they were very efficient and the service was good. My yellow curry with chicken was delicious and the portion was just right. Wish the side of rice was a little bigger, but I will definitely be back when I'm in town. read more

If the entrees were lowered by $1 each, I'd give them a 5. I know, I know, what's $1? But after ordering drunken noodles to go, you would expect to have some leftovers for $11 worth of food. And I swear it wasn't that I was just super hungry; either the portions could be slightly larger, or the prices slightly lower. Regardless, the place is doing well because they are always pretty busy. Each time I go, I order drunken noodles (note to self: level 7 is too spicy for my mouth) and am always happy. I want to try other times on the menu, but why stray from something you know you love? The last time I dined here I ate with a friend and she really enjoyed her meal as well. You can't go wrong here. However the one star was for how aggressively rude the staff was in rushing us out the door. When they say they close at 9pm it does not mean that they won't seat after 9pm. We have traveled for 3 weeks to Thailand and have NEVER been served Peanuts in a Country that has a tough time understanding English...My husband ordered his food and specifically told the waiter that he was ALLERGIC to Peanuts (even said it in Thai "Kin Toua Mai Dai" which means NO PEANUTS....First bite, allergic reaction...had to rush him to the Hospital! Ugh. Where do I begin? It honestly hurts to write this, because I really wanted to like this place. Atmosphere was nice, even though it was small, presentation of food was wonderful. But the customer service and lack of flavor left a bad taste in my mouth. I got a Tom Kha soup and their Pad Thai to try out for the first time. Soup was nice, but it was a little awkward to eat since it was a small portion of soup in a big bowl. Then the pad thai. the portion was laughably small for their $12 price on it. I was very disappointed, and then the taste was very mild! Little to no tamarind sauce, or anything. Example: last night my son ordered Curry Chicken egg noodle plate. We also had curry Shrimp egg noodle plate. What we got was a lump of cold stuck together noodles the shape of the take out box. The family-owned "I can't get fired" attitude just oozes out of the staff. Abrupt responses and general snobby attitude. I felt so rushed! We got in 30 minutes prior to close. This means half the menu is out of the question. Even drinks. Food was 8/10 for one entree and 4/10 for the other. App was 6/10. All I can say is this place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is great the decor is sleek and the food is amazing! Their fried tofu salad is one of a kind and delicious. We go to Thai Society on the regular and every time it has been awesome. North County was missing it when it came to decent Thai that was not all Americanized and this spot is our go to place. We usually get the curries. My favorite is the green and my girlfriend loves the yellow. But, everything we have ordered is wonderful and they have been consistent, which I look for in a quality restaurant. They bring these free deliciously spiced edamame as a mini appetizer and their water is amazing! The water is like cucumber flavored slightly. So refreshing with the spiciness of Thai food. There are a good amount of vegetarian options and vegan if you ask. Their tofu is so fresh and has a nice flavor. I have been to a lot of authentic Thai places around the country and while this may not be as super-authentic as a few places I've been, it is very close and our favorite here in North County. This is the first great Thai restaurant I have found in this area. I have only ordered take-out but the restaurant is very cute and the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend their yellow curry chicken. My only advice is to order the main dish and not the lunch specials, I think you get more for your money that way. read more
