So impressed. We had our food in less than 10 minutes! Food was delicious and service was fast! We got to Thai Spice at 830pm, thinking they closed at 930 per yelp description of hours, however, we found out they actually closed at 9. The open sign was off and the floors were all mopped, but they welcomed us in. We sat down at 830, ordered crab rangoons, which were delivered at 832. They were light crispy and there were 8 of them! For 5 dollars! We were so impressed we ordered another round of them to take home. We then ordered entrees Panang curry with shrimp and Pad Thai. Both entrees were delivered at 840. Seriously the fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant. But to make it even better both dishes were delicious. The curry was full of flavor and veggies were done but still crisp. My experience at Thai Spice was not pleasant. We ordered Crab fried rice and the server never asked how we wanted our rice. When the order came the crab on top was ice cold... unbelievable!!! Three of us had lunch there. We are all fond of Thai food, but not this place. A 3 star rating is being generous food-wise. We had three different dishes, and none of us were impressed. My chicken was rather tough, and it was very mundane like sweet and sour sauce had been thrown on the other ingredients. There was no hint of Thai spice. Another said it was the worst Thai she had eaten and did not finish her meal nor take it home. She had requested medium spice level, but her dish was very bland. Service was fast. Easily the best Thai spot in town. I've had both the Chili Chicken and the Honeymoon Chicken and both were fantastic. Great flavors and so much lighter than the deep fried Chinese versions. I will say the weekday lunches are a much better value since you get crab Rangoon and hot'n'sour soup with your lunch. The only downside is the prices are a little steep at $10-12/entree. If entrees were a little less, I'd be a regular here every week. However, I am happy to pay more for better quality food if it means I only get it a couple times. read more

Very good Curry, Thai cucumber salad is to die for. Thai tea and Taro ice cream are amazing. Staff is always so nice and the place is well kept. Been many times and staff always friendly and food always good. Thai red curry sauce with chicken, fresh basil and vegetables in a coconut milk curry sauce was excellent. I met a friend at Thai Spice. She came after getting off work. The waitress asked me three times to place the order for her before she arrived. When my friend arrived the waitress stood over her to make her hurry up and order. As we were eating, the waitress came with the bill and asked us to pay then because they were closing. After I paid, the waitresses closed the blinds and left, and only one worker was left in the restaurant. The sign is posted that they close at 3:00. I thought it meant they stop serving at 3:00, but it means the door closes at 3:00. I think they should post that it closes at 2:30 if they want to close the door at 3:00. This was a very poor way to treat customers, and we felt unwelcome and that we were a bother. I will not be back. read more

Been here a few times and it's usually pretty good but the last two times it's just been down right bad. The waitresses are nice enough but lately we've had to flag them down for anything. Mediocre service is almost the new normal anywhere you go and usually not enough to write a review about but the food the last few times (especially the last time) was almost inedible. They used so much oil the noodles about slid off the plate and the only vegetables they were serving that night was baby corn and carrots and lots of it and my food had a strong fish taste under all the oil (didn't order fish). Stopped in with my teen girls for an early dinner on a weeknight. The service was wonderful. The food was very good. I ordered the Tom Yum. It was delicious and full of flavor. My daughter ordered the drunken noodles. She said she enjoyed them very much and would totally order them again. Everything was clean and the workers were polite and handled the Covid situation well. So, I've been here a few times and HIGHLY recommend it! The ingredients are fresh, the food is excellent and very authentic. The service is fast, but not always perfect. Though if they make a mistake, it is corrected very quickly! And the food is always served steaming hot! The restaurant and bathrooms are very clean and the walls are simply decorated with food porn to make your mouth water like a cartoon character from the moment you walk in. Also the prices are right on for those of us on a budget. With HUGE dinner portions and lunch entrees that come with soup and the appetizer of the day, you will NOT leave hungry. I've been to both locations a few times and they've been consistant on every visit. I've also tried about half the menu, which is impressive considering how many options there are. Hard to pick a fave! But if I had to choose one it would be the very craveable Drunken Noodles with chicken. Slightly sweet, house made chili paste sauce, but balanced so you can taste the basil, ginger, garlic, etc.. They also offer a few different fried rice dishes, like crab fried rice (YES CRAB, Weeeeeeeee) and Pineapple fried rice (normal fried rice ingredients plus pineapple, chicken, shrimp, cashews, raisins). The Garlic Pork and Ginger Delight w/ chicken and lots of veggies are also faves! And don't get me talking about the curry's or I'll never stfu! Like the walls, the menu has lots of tantalizzing pictures to help you choose the right dish. And of course you can choose 4 levels of heat to suit your palate. Thai HOT for me, but I suggest a Thai tea to help keep the burning in check! The soups and appetizers are all done very well. Pretty much everything I've eaten there just makes you want more from first to last bite! Even the freaking steamed white rice served with some dishes is excellent, perfectly cooked and floral! And many menu options allow you to choose chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, all veggies or tofu. That makes it hipster friendly, right? Anyways, I am usually planning my next meal there while paying the bill, haha! Yep, it's that good, people! I like to try random Thai restaurants when my husband and I travel throughout the U.S. The sign says authentic Thai food and I must agree!! The Thai peppers are spicy like I expected. I like how their spice scale is realistic... Example: mild medium spicy or Thai spicy... Where as other thai places I have been to say mild-hot scale 1-10 which is silly. Anyways, we ordered Thai ice coffee which you can never go wrong with the bold coffee flavor. So good!! We also ordered spicy Thai beef salad and drunken noodles. The flavor was spot on... Wish this place or the chef's lived in Ohio. This place reminds me of how Irvine California Thai spice tastes like. Not sure if they are related... Definitely coming back if we are near by. The last place I would have thought to look for some super tasty Thai food would be a strip mall in Independence so I'm glad that my friend turned me onto this place. The restaurant features a lunch and a dinner menu and of them I've only had the lunch. I do like the specials, which are reasonably priced between $8-$11 and feature a main dish that includes a crab rangoon. If you like a little heat then this is your place. I ordered medium heat and I could feel the warmth on the top of my mouth. The dishes aren't overly large, but filling so you won't go home hungry. First time my girlfriend came from Windsor Mo and we were walking in the door about 15 minutes early and they told us we had to leave they were not taking any other customers. This used to my favorite place to get Pad Thai. They allow you to adjust the level of spice which sounds great but last time we went yesterday it was not very hot at all. The pork we had there was very fatty and kind of undercooked. We also had the sesame chicken which was flash fried (i.e. very thin breading). The worst part was the service. When we ordered they did not write anything down. That never works out well. We ordered fried dumplings, pork pad thai, and sesame chicken. We didn't get the dumplings at all. When they brought the bill it included the dumplings and we had to argue to get them taken off the order. Our waitress also did not come back after she took our order and ignored us until we got our bill, i.e. no water refills and no ability to ask for the missing part of the order. We also had to ask for leftover containers. All in all a really bad experience. read more

I have mixed feelings about Thai Spice. First I would like to mention that they were willing to make my Tom Yum soup vegan (vegetarian with NO fish sauce)! Many thai restaurants tell me that the mix is already made and they cannot accommodate my no fish sauce request. The soup was so good I went back three times in one week. The bad news is that I ordered a Thai Basil dish thai hot.... not only was it VERY mild (not thai hot like I had ordered), the dish was tasteless.
