I live in Bangkok for five years and find it difficult to find authentic Thai cooking. The Thai restaurants in the bay area often do not put the spice in during the cooking process. If you order Thai Hot, you get some hot sauce on the side. True Thai is cooked with the wonderful spices into the food. Thai Spice does this! You can't really eat true Thia that lacks the mouth explosive Thai spices. If you do not like spicy get Chinese. I highly recommend Thai Spice if you want the real Thai experence. read more

I've been here before and wasn't pleased so 6 months later I gave it a second chance. BIG MISTAKE! I was sitting at a table of 4 when my Pad Thai Chicken came out, we all looked at each other with a what is that smell look on our faces. My food smelled like wet dog. I'm not one to complain so I rolled with the punches thinking I won't order it anymore. The person across from me also ordered Pad Thai, same result. Her being a little more outspoken than I am sent it back and asked for plain white rice. When our bills came they charged her for the white rice, which is expected, and the Pad Thai. When she asked to speak with a manager she was ignored. We asked again 10 minutes later, "they weren't available". For a self proclaimed small company that has published in their check out books that they rely on word of mouth for advertisement I wouldn't consider this experience good for the business. Our server was rude, challenged us to leave a review and is clearly working in the wrong industry. I've had Pad Thai and Thai food in general at many different restaurants. Yes yes yes! We love Thai Spice! Pad Thai, drunken noodles, green curry, summer rolls! Everything is fresh, authentic, and delicious. Although they are always busy, I never have trouble finding a table and often get take out as well. The ladies who work there are very friendly, nice, and recognize a familiar face. Service is good and food is delivered pretty quickly. Portions are large and we typically take home leftovers. They offer white or black rice and provide high customizable options- chicken, shrimp, chicken and shrimp, tofu, veggies. Love it. The only thing that is odd (but also humorous) is that they are ALWAYS playing the Mamma Mia soundtrack in the restaurant. I like to sing a long and drive my date batty. read more

Maybe I'm northeast spoiled from all the amazing Thai I've tried in Boston and New York but I was impressed none the less for Florida standards. I came here after reading about all the awards this little strip mall joint has won. I honestly thought this place was located around Clearwater Beach- boy was I wrong! It was quite the troop but clearly I didn't know how widespread the Clearwater area is. My father, sister, her friend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We were greeted warmly by the staff and brought to our little table the bar. The restaurant is pretty cute overall but nothing out of the ordinary, typical Thai decor. We started off with vegetable dumplings which were pretty good and each ordered entrees. I went with my usual fave, chicken pad thai. It was decent but I've definitely had better. But for the fast food nation known as Florida I was impressed with the quality, presentation and taste. It wasn't too sweet - a good flavor overall. We ended our meal with fried ice cream for dessert. It was pretty cakey - the fried layer just didn't have the crunch and texture it should have had... I went to Thai Spice for lunch today for my first time there. I've heard some people say it's excellent. Others have told me it's not good. I have to say I liked it. I ordered Panang Curry Shrimp & Chicken. The mini-soup & mini-egg roll & mini-salad that preceded my entree were all very good. The egg roll was tiny but flavorful. The salad was good but a teaser, & the soup was basic broth with some rice & garlic. The main course was excellent. I ordered the Panang curry to be mild, & it was spot on & extremely flavorful. The chicken was white meat & tasted great. My only small complaint is that the shrimp was obviously not fresh & also needed to have been cooked longer. Over all though lunch was great. So delicious. My daughter and I went for lunch today. We had the garlic chicken and Basil shrimp with vegetables. Each meal came with a tasty egg roll, a salad and soup. We also had the cucumber salad. My favorite. But the most delicious are their Thai donuts, they tasted like fried croissants served with peanuts, chocolate sauce, and some other sauce. I would go 3.5 stars, this is a take out review, I still need to do a dining in for the full experience. I started with the Tom Yum with Seafood, and maybe that was the problem - it was AWESOME (and no my caps lock is not stuck). I think that it might have ruined me for everything else. It is physically impossible for me to go to a Thai restaurant and not order Pad Thai, and their base version hit all the right notes. So now you are asking, what's the problem? Two words: PA NANG. I love pork ( or Shrimp, or beef or veggie - you get the picture). I make a pretty good rendition of Panang that I borrowed from the CIA (no not them Culinary Institute of America) with chicken and potatoes that is awesome. This pa - nang seemed a little thin and lacking in depth, not sure where the issue lies, just no it could be so much better. Also, the rice was gummy. I like my rice sticky in traditional Thai manner ( I cook my Jasmine rice with chicken broth and coconut milk - pilaf style). But this rice was almost watery. For the price, the quality is great. The staff is friendly and attentive. The place is small but well maintained and decor is what you'd expect from a little Thai spot. I've eaten here before. The food is good. There were 6 people seated when we got there for lunch. We were seated immediately, then ignored for 13 minutes while the single server was bringing out people's orders. We had our menus closed with 30 seconds, so an observant server would haven quickly taken our order so it got on the queue, as most of us who work have a limited time for lunch. When the server finally got to us, we let her know we had about 20minutes for the food to be prepared and eaten. She opined that It wouldn't be enough time to enjoy the meal, and didn't offer any encouragement regarding the restaurant's ability to meet our time frame. I have had an enjoyed countless lunch specials at a variety of Asian restaurants in a 30 minute timeframe. Went back, very friendly service and excellent food. read more

This place certainly doesn't disappoint. However, they can be a little bit on the pricey side. Went there on a Saturday night 7:30 PM nobody at all was there which should've been my first clue! As we waited for somebody to come to the table we talked about leaving as I couldn't believe It took so long for a waitress! But went downhill from there potstickers appear to be frozen and freezer burnt!
