A solid Thai restaurant to dine in whether you're by yourself or with a large group. This corner hot spot is one of the few good Thai eats. Normally, I'm not a fan of Thai food, but this place converted me with their eggplant, duck, and a few other delectable dishes. My experience with their fish wasn't as good given all the bones, but that's because I'm a lazy eater. The decor and ambiance inside is a bit above average considering what you would expect after seeing a neon sign from the outside. This is definitely one of the places that I think of past midnight. Their variety of fried rice always starts up a craving for me whenever I get hungry late at night. I think they drugged it. I've been here a few times, usually for lunch. I always get the same dishes so I decided to get something different this time. The Pad Thai is yummy, a little more sweet/sour than usual but still good! The Beef Satay as an appetizer is really yummy! The beef is always chewy (in a good way) and the sauce is perfect with it! We also got the Seafood Combination Noodle Soup and the Pineapple Fried Rice. But the Pineapple Fried Rice doesn't come in a pineapple.... Since it's still summer season, we decided to get the Sticky Rice with Mango and that was THE BEST I've tasted. The rice was perfectly chewy and not hard. And the mango was perfectly sweet! We decided to try this place since it was a Friday night and many other places in Millbrae had a long wait. Even though they didn't have a lot of customers (around 5-6 tables), service was surprisingly slow. It took about 20 minutes to get our food after we ordered, and the dishes were lukewarm. Even though their menu doesn't explicitly state which dishes are vegetarian, they can definitely accommodate vegetarians and vegans. Most of the curries, noodles, and stir fries can be made vegetarian. I decided on the vegetarian eggplant ($10.95), which came with soft tofu, eggplant, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and basil leaves. The flavor of this dish was really delicious, and it had a nice balance of tofu and veggies. I appreciated that it wasn't too oily. The portion size wasn't very big, and it didn't come with rice, so I felt like you could get food for a better value at many other Thai places. This definitely isn't my go-to Thai restaurant, but they do open until 1am, so I'd come back if I needed a late-night meal. Thai Stick has earned the award for the WORST THAI FOOD I've ever tried in my life. A one star was earned for the Grub hub order which was in time and correct. First thing to avoid are the chicken wings that appeared like they were coming from a pizza parlor and not a Thai restaurant. They were breaded and buffalo style and unfortunately had to be thrown out after eating one. Also found a dead bug in the sauce so that was unfortunate. Second thing to avoid, the crab fried rice.There will be no crab in your rice. Do not forget that because when you're smiling at your spoon full of rice you will quickly notice that it is merely seasoning that is portraying this flavor. And third I had to fight a tear on this one because I truly do love Pad see ew but this place shattered my naive concept that all Thai places cooked heavenly plates that would never disappoint. Enough of the haters! This place may not be super amazing, but I get my comfort food here. Thai Stick has been here for too long and it may not look as fancy or modern like other Thai places, but it offers the basic foods done right. My family's usually go-tos are spicy eggplant with ground chicken (medium spicy), silver noodle soup, chicken satay, fish samyung, crab fried rice, and the tofu and spinach in peanut sauce. I personally really like the silver noodle soup: it comes with lightly seasoned clear broth with loads of protein in it (shrimp, tofu, ground meat, fish balls), black wood ears and glass noodles. Some people may find it bland, but I like the simple taste and I don't get super thirsty afterwards which means there's not too much sodium in it. Portions are also decent, and prices reasonable. Service is always prompt and friendly. Plus, it opens till late!! I really hope Thai Stick can get more business. read more

I was hesitant to try this place because of low star reviews and the pictures on yelp weren't to appealing, but a colleague strongly recommended it so we came here for a work dinner. Food was good and the services was pretty prompt as well, but were the only customers. We had the appetizers, and the fried taro was good. First time that I've had it. I had the duck curry, spicy, and it was good. I didn't taste the spiciness right away but definitely could taste it after a few bites. Terrible service with mediocre food. We came in with a party of 4 and were just standing around to get seated. We decided to just seat ourselves. It took forever for a waitress to come and take our orders. It took even longer just to get glasses of water. The pineapple fried rice was nothing spectacular. The chicken pieces were dry and tough. We also got the fried fish cakes which were incredibly overpriced (~$10) for the quality. They were dry and small and the flavor was strange. We also ordered the mango sticky rice dessert. The best part was the guy let us sit here to kill time even during the time they close between lunch and dinner. The food was average, it wasn't amazing but it also wasn't horrible. We had average curry which was edible. The decor was not great, but it was clean enough. Biggest drawback was it was stuffy and hot in the restaurant, a little AC would have improved comfort. The prices were about $9-$11 and it came quickly. It was an average lunch close to the airport that helped us pass a five hour connection by a little faster. Nice and spacious with really neat decor. It's a great place for if you want a decent ambiance and elbow room for your party larger than 4... you know how crammed restaurants can be in the Bay Area! Thai Stick is an unusual gem in that regard, especially in such a good location in Millbrae. The food is okay, however. Considering what diverse Asian cuisines Millbrae has to offer these days, Thai Stick sticks out as a rather bland American Thai restaurant. Thai stick is one of those places that is good for late night when you can't think of anywhere else to go in the upper peninsula. Their food is good, but service can be up or down depending on when you go. Unfortunately the menu changes often and items seem to disappear from the list. My go to items are still there though (angel wings/meat and fish cake) and are pretty consistently good. Not much else to comment on other than you won't be wowed, but won't be disappointed either. read more

My family and I have gone here for a ton of things, off the top of my head... Mother's Day, Husband's B-day, ordered to go for my Mother-in-law's birthday. Favorite items are: -Fried Taro: was avoiding it until a friend ordered it. A bit on the sweet side and good enough for dessert, even -Pla Sam Rod (Cod): We get this medium and it has an addicting tangy flavor -Angel Wings: Chicken isn't the highest of quality, but the flavor profile is strong -Crab Fried Rice: crab and curry flavor are very present, a crowd pleaser -Salt & Pepper Prawns: if you love garlic and shrimp, you'll love this dish, skin is crispy enough to eat -Roti with ice cream: I love the coconut ice cream, but the rest of my family ops for green tea ice cream Parking in the area can be tough, but patience is a virtue and there's always the option of picking up or delivery. I went to this place because of the great location- it was right next to Sweet Indulgence, my favorite dessert place. Also Thai Stick is open late till 1am!!! The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and well-lit. However, the staff at the restaurant aren't that friendly. I hate to give such bad reviews because of the service. I mean smiling even goes a long way now a days. This goes out to the waitress who helped me at the register: it wouldn't kill you to say your "please" and "thank you's". The food I ordered was average, nothing special, except the Pad Thai, that was surprisingly tasty. The portions were actually really smaller than what the images looked like on the menu- even the dessert. I think the prices the restaurant were charging for the portions they were giving were a bit unfair. And not to mention, the thai ice tea was also watered down. We came here for lunch with some coworkers. Parking was easy to find in front of the restaurant. Our group of 8 was seated immediately by the window. It was a good thing too, because we caught the meter man trying to give my coworker a ticket, even though we had only been there for 5 minutes! Our food came out pretty fast and service was relatively standard. My dish came with a dome-shaped scoop of rice and the eggplant dish, which consisted of many goodies such as basil, chicken, eggplant, green bell peppers, and onions. The onions were cooked well, still crisp but without the raw onion sharpness. I got medium spicy, which wasn't super hot but with a slight kick. It was pretty yummy and I would get this dish again. They also have a coconut drink which they serve in a real coconut, which seemed pretty neat. Free delivery is offered for orders totaling $15 or more, between 5PM and 10PM. Seems like they're open late, so this is a good place to go for your late night eats. Overall, a good value for lunch, so I would come back! read more

Thai Stick is decent Thai food. It's not the greatest I've ever had, but it's decent. I got the Pad Thai with shrimp, and my friends ordered the BBQ chicken over rice and the Pad See Ew with beef. The Pad Thai was good, but it did not taste very much like Pad Thai. I think that the noodles were cooked well and the dish was flavorful, but it did not have the peanuty, sweet taste that Pad Thai should have. Would still recommend though, as a decent noodle dish. The Pad See Ew was decent as well, as was the BBQ over fried rice. Tip: If you really like fried rice and have a big appetite, you can get a fried rice dish (like BBQ over fried rice) and then order fried rice as a side. Came here for dinner Friday night and when you first walk in the place has a funny, funky odor that Gordon Ramsay shuts down restaurants for. Do get me wrong, the place looked clean, but what's that smell? We ordered a noodle dish...the menu is not very descriptive of the food especially the rice or noodle offerings. Once a week my friend and I go out for lunch for our weekly food adventure. This week's travels brought us here. Upon reading the page review, my expectations were very low. As we entered the restaurant we were immediately greeted and seated right away. We ordered off of the lunch menu. I ordered the spicy eggplant (mild spice) with ground chicken over white rice and my friend ordered the pad kaprow with Ground chicken with mushrooms and hot basil leaves. Our food was out no longer than 10 minutes after we ordered. The food was delicious. To my dismay, my order wasn't as spicy as predicted, but thankfully they offer chilli peppers and siracha at every table The only reason they get 4 stars is because they got our dessert wrong. We ordered the roti with ice cream, but we were given fried banana with mango ice cream. We were running low on time, so we didn't send it back.
