My favorite Thai restaurant in Indy. Heck, I think it may be the only Thai restaurant in Indy worth a shout-out. I've eaten here four times and have never left disappointed. The staff are polite and attentive, and though small, the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. The food is fresh, flavorful and satisfying. Definitely order the Tom Yum Soup but sip slowly because it's fiery! The pineapple fried rice is another must-try. It will feed 2-3 comfortably. The yellow and red curries are creamy and packed full of ingredients. You will eat well but make sure to leave a tiny bit of room for dessert: the rum cake is to die for. read more

I love this paste. As good as it gets in terms of thai food, not overly greasy, everything tastes fresh and full of flavor. Every Thursday evening it also has a buffet, and the first Thursday of the month it has a vegetarian buffet. I think the thing I like the best is that they do not let the condiments take over the natural tastes of veggies, which is a common problem in so many other places. This small business offers extensive menu of traditional Thai dishes. Dine in or Carry out is available. The dining area is small and cozy, it is well decorated with Thai theme arts. We like the taste of most of the appetizers and entrees. As for the Thom Kha soup, there were missing basic ingredients such as galangal and lemon grass. The curry is delicious, a bit taste of peanut, sweet and spicy. So if you or your party has any food allergy, especially peanut, please be sure to ask before you order. I love Thai food. I have been to Thailand and this place is authentic (enough, anyway- it's Indiana) and delicious. The service might be on the slow side, but go with friends or bring a book and relax. You won't ever feel rushed. I've had many of their dishes, but their larb is something I'd definitely recommend. I am a big pad kee mow fan - tried it here recently and was very disappointed. Bland - asked for med/hot - got med/mild. Tofu was tough - didn't realize it could be. I have had one other meal - Masman curry a couple of years ago and it was good. But not this time. Will try again - other food I saw in the restaurant looked fine. read more

We were so impressed with everything about this amazing restaurant. Pad Thai and Thai Fried rice both had such deep flavor. Spring roll was crispy and fresh, and homemade sweet and sour was divine. Tom Yam (sp?) was spicy and awesome. Rum cake was moist and sweet. All for $7 for lunch. We will be back every time we go to Trader Joe's. The family that runs it is great. read more

I don't know why I ignored this place for so long... I guess just because it's a little place in a strip-mall. Well, I finally went in a month ago, and wow was it good! I have been back three times since, and everything has been amazing so far, including red and green curries that had me licking the bowl. And the pumpkin curry was something you've got to try too. Love this place. I've eaten there many, many times. The service is hit and miss. I'm always there for a weekend lunch. I always get the seafood hotpot. Haw Mok Talay. It's is wonderful. The Papaya salad can't be beat. I've had a couple of dishes I didn't care for but that's my own taste. Their eggplant dishes are good. As is the fried pumpkin. The owner is a very nice man. Love it. The restaurant has an awesome buffet on Thursdays, however, the restaurant is too small to handle such a crowd. They always run out of food and have a hard time keeping up with the crowd because they make everything in a small pot, rather than in bulk. Thai Taste is my go to Thai restaurant. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Everything from the soft spring rolls to the fried rice to the red curry is delicious. I greatly appreciate their willingness to let me modify my entrees with extra veggies. Their rum cake, Thai coffee and homemade ice cream are worth the visit alone. read more

Really bad service! We were kept waiting outside for a long time, then put to a corner. It took them forever to give us the menu. Then they took Oder for a group of 6 which arrived later then us! It made us wait even longer for our dishes. They really need better management. read more

Best Thai in Indy! In a strip mall by Trader Joe's so it would be easy to not even notice it. The food is amazing. We typically get take out from here a couple of times/month. Our order is always right, food is always fresh and tastes amazing. Red Curry, Green Curry, and Pra Ram - Peanut Sauce are the go-to orders for us. The peanut sauce is maybe the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. The decor inside isn't great - but that does not matter to me. Buffett every Thursday is a great deal to try new things - about $15. First Thursday of the month is vegetarian! yay! Staff/owner are always very nice and offer suggestions if you're not sure what you want. Eat here. AMAZING! read more

Not only that, but their staff is friendly and very helpful in their food recommendations. At the end of the meal, they give you delicious complementary cookies. We had just read about their once-a-month vegetarian buffet and went to check it out. This was my first time at a thai restaurant, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I thought it was all wonderful. Lots of dishes to choose from. They all seemed fresh and well made. I've been eating at Thai Taste since the late 90's. They used to have a huge space rented beside my childhood karate dojo. Since then T-squared has been my Indy Thai restaurant of choice for many years. I even was a waiter at T2 for a year in high school. With this have been said, I am very well aware of the in's and out's, up's and down's of this couple owned mom and pop Thai bistro. I highly recommend many of the dishes served at T2 such as: Pud Thai, Pud z Ew, Tom Yum, Tom Kah, Pud Prik King, Kow Pud, Gang Kewon Gai. FYI - Pud means "stir fry" in Thai and is the pronoun for most of the dishes which are created in a wok. I would suggest anything from the noodles and rice section of the menu. Furthermore, i always find a curry hot pot, i.e. Gang Kewon Gai, hits the spot when I'm craving Thai.Thai food strives to include all of what they consider the 5 elements of taste: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and hot. The menu consists of dishes from the South and North regions of Thailand. They have a variety of hot and cold appetizer. I recommend the spring rolls (deep fried or "soft"). The food will come out as soon as its plated, instead of the american tradition of all the dishes being served to the table at the same time. This situation has its pros, such as the dish is always hot because it has not been sitting under a heat lamp waiting on the other meals to finish: and its cons, such as having to decide whether to dig in or be polite and wait. Either way the food is good and if you want to try something exciting and new, you will probably like Thai food. The only thing that I would offer in constructive criticism to Thai Taste is their ability to serve the customer in a timely manner. Due to the owners keeping cost low, staff is at a minimum. When the restaurant is feeling the strain of their busy hours, finding someone to fulfill your dining needs is a hassle. I would know first hand because i was a waiter. It often feels understaffed and takes a while for anything to be accomplished. I have solved this problem by never ever coming during those busy weekend nights. If you want Thai food when the Taste is busy order out and just walk in and pick it up. There are many regulars that grace T2's humble knick-knacky decorated dining room and humble atmosphere. The service is always friendly (which is expected in Thai culture) even if the work force is lacking. Thai Taste is great for anyone who wants to try something different than Chinese food and pizza. It's exotic and a little bit romantic. It can appeal to vegetarians and the lunch special price is around 6 dollars and includes a cup of silver noodle soup and slice of rum cake.
