First time here and I went during a busy lunch rush, so this review is based on a quick 1-hour lunch visit. I ordered the Pad Kra Pao ground chicken with a fried egg on top, medium spicy -- sooo good. Super flavorful and exactly what I was craving. Easy 10/10 for me. My friend ordered the green bean beef, but based on her taste it was too sweet for her. Another friend had the cashew chicken and thought it was good as well. The food took a bit longer to come out, but it was. Service wasn't bad at all, just too hectic for them to check on us. We were on a tight lunch break, so it felt a little rushed -- totally understandable during peak hours. Overall, great food, and I'd definitely come back (maybe during a less busy time). read more

I'm always up for Thai food. Thai Time flavors hit the spot. As you walk in you're greeted and seated. I liked the aesthetic of the bar with the changing colored lights. Everything on the menu sounded so good and if you know me and Thai places I need to try the noodles. I tired the chicken satay and the peanut sauce that's paired with it was creamy and so good! I wanted to drench the chicken in it. I also noticed the chicken on the skewer was moist. I opted for the chicken phad Thai medium hot and also ordered the pork belly fried rice. The pork belly was crunchy and crispy and the fried rice was tasty and delicious. Overall it was a great experience and Thai Time is added to my Sac Town Thai spots! read more

another update: this has been one of our favorite Thai restaurants because of the friendly staff and very delicious thai dishes. So what did we order: 1) mango chicken curry with brown rice: I asked our wait staff to bring me her favorite curry dish and spice level that she enjoys. Her reco consisted of sweet chunks of mango, fresh veggies, and pieces of chicken in a very pleasing mango curry at a moderate mid-heat level. Very delicious curry but will order it again at a higher spice level. Again, i also enjoy uncooked jalapenos and serrano chili's. 2) pad thai with grilled chicken: another very delicious entree with the right amount of seasoning and tender chicken breast. This was a lunch special which was enough for another meal the next day 3) avocado curry w/chicken: another delicious curry entree. Who puts an entire fresh avocado as a top garnish?...this place does wow! Btw- both delicious curries had consistency of a smooth and creamy texture...perfect over brown rice. First it's on the corner of U and 10th street. The fresh rolls were good but not the best I have had. The "brown" rice which is heavily aromatic, was unpleasant to my tastes, the Panang curry was delicious, once I got the rice taste out of my mouth. Service was prompt, friendly and courteous. As you could see I am starting to become a regular here. One of the favorite dish (apple salad) pushed me to come back & tried the rest of their menus. Owner of the resturant is there to greet you as you walk in. She is always so friendly and open to catching up with you. They have a bar also tap if you feeling like drinking a beer. I usually come here for lunch since it's within walking distance. The resturant has cute different types of plants lined up towards the back and it makes it all the more pleasant to be around. The servers are on point in helping and making sure we have what we need. The food orders wait time never disappoints me. The food is flavorful & delicious. The veggies are fresh! Since I am Southeast Asia I tend to be more picky about my papaya salads and never thought to order until a friend told me about it. High five!!!! 100% Laos style papaya was on point! The papaya was super fresh and crunchy. The flavor of the sauce was delicious. I'm so glad I no long need to go the hood to find authentic papaya salad! Amazing! I ordered red curry with chicken and brown rice, and a stout (they have a good selection on tap). The curry was creamy and delicious! The rice was moist and nutty, and so much better than I expected of brown rice. The service was wonderful; our server was attentive and friendly and we were comfortable taking our time (on a Monday not too busy for dinner). I stumbled upon my new favorite Thai restaurant, Thai Time, driving down 10th Street toward downtown Sac. I learned this is a place that top Sacramento chefs frequent! The owner Thomasan (sp?) is the sweetest, and food is the best Thai food I've ever eaten -- fresh and fried spring rolls, wonton soup, Tom Kha soup, Pad Thai with shrimp, drunken noodle, eggplant/vegetables and the special "Sunset Curry" with chicken. Lots of choices for different diets. Hats off to the chef! I'd eat here every day if I could, and the prices are reasonable for the exceptional quality. Last night was my 3rd visit in two weeks, and I've already made plans to return with friends. The atmosphere is modern, cozy, and inviting. read more

Our 2nd time trying this latest Thai restaurant downtown. We're big fans of Coconut on T but decided to take a chance on a different Thai place. Trust me, they did not disappoint. The prices were a bit higher than Coconuts but the flavor and freshness of the meats and produce was all worth it! We all ordered something a bit different. My go-to is always the yellow curry, the other got the eggplant W/ beef, chicken fried rice, and I believe the chicken basil (from the lunch menu). Everyone was very happy with their dishes. Okay let's start off with the service. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by two employees asking us how many there were in our party. Both of them had big smiles on their faces which was a really nice welcome. The restaurant itself was not too packed we went around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday. Context: for Sacramento it was a little bit chilly so I'm guessing that is why the amount of people was a little bit less that night. The table decided to get a bottle of wine which was really nice. We got a white wine we had not heard of before and thought it would pair well with a different food options we had chosen. We got a papaya salad, potstickers, lamb curry, Curry puffs, and the Royal pad thai. We shared all these items and this was definitely enough for a group of four people. The main reason for the three star review is in connection to the food. The food visually looked very beautiful. The colors of the different vegetables the colors of this Curry the colors of the topping everything was just really eye-catching. Now the food was still good the way to describe it was it felt like it was missing a little extra flavor. Like the pad thai had the basic flavors that are at a typical pad type but it felt like they were muted. The lamp Curry was a little bit similar in that regard to because again I could taste the spices but it felt like they were not coming to the surface and really showcasing the char and the lamb. I will say though the table did agree that the lamb was a little overcooked because we had to really use the curry to help with a bit of the dryness. Lastly the bread that accompanied the lamb was a bit too oily for our liking. The potstickers that we started with and the papaya salad again similar really beautiful looking it just felt like the flavors were not fully there. Overall again good food and if you are an individual that is not really a fan of like really strong flavors or like the presence of heat from spices then this is going to be your jam. For me and our group that enjoys a little bit more of that like the power of flavor in a little bit of heat it was not our jam that night.. read more

Based on my first meal this is a strong contender for first place. Brown Rice. Their "brown rice" (appeared to have a lot of glutinous black rice mixed in as well) is wonderful. Get at least one serving or you are missing one of the great things about this restaurant. Thai Basil is excellent, "correct" flavor. The Salmon curry (green curry) was very good, but the Salmon had a nice crisy shell and was well cooked but juicy - exactly how I like it. Both dishes had some added sugar. If you're watching your sugar, make sure to ask the waitress. The wait staff were on the ball. The food prep was fast. Presentation was above average. They held back on sugar for the Thai iced tea on request. They honored a request for spicy and did not disappoint. They have some unusual drinks, including hard Kombucha. Wonderful stop for dinner, the Thai food is fantastic. Both the Red Curry with Chicken and the Pad Krow Pow with Beef were so fresh and flavorful. Hot but not Thai hot - absolutely delicious. My home is on the adjacent block to this restaurant. I really, really wanted to like this place. I have been 3 times. It's clean. They are nice but..... all the meat, in the dishes that I have tried...is awful. The chicken was tough-not like the velveted asian dishes I am used to eating. Pork? The same. Chewy, tough. My wife and I decided to check this place out due to the positive reviews and it being walking distance from our place. The service was great, we were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in and consistently checked on throughout our meal. The ambiance and vibe of the restaurant was nice. It was very clean, there was nice music playing and the bar area looked very inviting. I could definitely see myself visiting in the future to sit at the bar to catch a game and take advantage of the beer specials. In my opinion the food was okay. I would try some of the other items on the menu if we visit again. Curry Puffs - The outside was a bit dry for my liking but the inside filling was very good. Wonton Soup - This was really good and I'd definitely order again. I just wish the portion was bigger. I'd recommend each person order their own as opposed to sharing this dish. We come to Thai Time at least once a month and it honestly never disappoints. Yesterday we got the Panang curry, soft shell crab curry, wonton soup, and drunken noodles, and everything was cooked perfectly to our taste. Me and my sister thoroughly enjoyed our time at Thai Time. We highly recommend the short rib with glass noodle dish as it was the most delicious meal we've ever had at a Thai restaurant! My husband and I came across Thai Time in Mid Town for the first time during Mother's Day week, and we are so glad we did! We instantly loved the location (a lot of parking), the atmosphere, and of course the food. Honestly, we were shocked they were so slow on a Monday night because everything was amazing. We went back again tonight (they were super busy) with our kids and once again the food did not disappoint. We tried the fried rice, avo curry, drunken noodles, and curry fries (which we had never even heard of before but WOW -- so good). And the biggest win of all? Our 3 and 4 year olds absolutely loveddddd the chow mein. It's hard finding a place that both adults and kids genuinely enjoy, but Thai Time nailed it. Dined in 8/2 The food was so good. Would have preferred a fat noodle instead of the top Ramen noodle for the stir fry type dish. However, it wasn't nasty or anything of the sort. Just prefer the fat noodle. Food came out really fast & hot. The host was so sweet! She smiled the whole time we were there even though we came 30min before they closed. She gave no signs of attitude or anything and that felt great. Her co-worker on the other hand (long ponytail) definitely had an attitude & wanted to go home or something. She seemed very upset. I think It's because we came so late. But if they would have told us the kitchen was closed we wouldn't have argued. Anyways, I hope she feels better. The vibe of the restaurant was cool. Thai Time is our new favorite spot in the area. My husband and I had dinner here a second time last night and the staff is so welcoming and kind. When we eat here, it feels like visiting a friend's house and their family is so eager to feed you. We like to park a couple of blocks away take our time walking before and after our meal. It's great! We started with fried tofu with tamarind sauce (SO GOOD). I ordered the Kao Soi with chicken (again!). Not all Thai restaurants have Kao Soi, so I'm glad they had this on the menu! It's a noodle dish with cabbage and carrots, soaking in curry sauce, and topped with super crunchy noodles! You can eat it as is, but sometimes I like to order a side of rice. My husband tried the pad se-ew with chicken and level 3 spicy (whoa). Last time and he had the Royal Pad Thai (which has a fried egg blanket on top) he loved them both! The decor and lighting at the bar is so calm, plus, they have so many lush plants that make it feel so warm and welcoming!
