Went here about a week ago. I got the: ~Crispy Basil Chicken: it was fine, it was not that crispy and not that warm either. It was pretty soggy and soft and they put too much sauce and seasoning which makes it really salty which I don't like. Score: 4/10. ~Pad See Ew Noodles: the Pad See Ew Noodles are way better than the chicken! The pad see ew noodles were room temp and it had the right amount of texture(noodle texture: was soft and not hard) and was flavorful. Score: 8.5/10. The staff are pretty nice through and service is decent. Would not recommend their Crispy Basil Chicken though, but probably the other dishes are fine. read more

Honestly, it's tasty, but not the best. I almost will always knock stars off if I find "filler veggies" in my rad nah.. and this dish had SO MANY FILLER VEGGIES that it changed the flavor of my dish. Mushrooms, green beans, cabbage, onion, carrots, pak kana (Chinese broccoli), etc. the flavor was off, also the portions were on the slim side for this particular dish. The other dishes in my order were decent and tasty, but, again, not the best. We also ordered the tamarind pad Thai which was preferably sweeter and a little saucy along with pad si ew which was good, but the garlic flavor tasted like prepped and pre-minced store bough garlic... yikes. A Friend of mine told me about this place yesterday and told me it was good. So, we went there today for business lunch and yes, it was great. The owners are wonderful, the wife is cooking so the food was so great. The place used to be a Persian Restaurant that I have been at many times before they went out of business. We had the lamb dish today, the meat was tender and the sauce was great. The prices are great too, most items for lunch menu are around $8 range but the portions are big enough. I'm fairly skeptical when eating certain Asian food, particularly Thai, on the eastside. Stumbled upon this place and I found what might be one of the best SE Asian dishes you can find in greater Seattle. Papaya salad is one of those things restaurants never get right. It may be because not many customers order it or know what true authenticity means with this dish. In short, super unripe, crunchy, shredded papaya pounded with mortar and pessel along w some danky additives. Most restaurants use bad papaya. Some don't use enough dank. Others plain and flat out should never ever serve this dish. I ask the owner if theirs is good and he responded with "have you had it before?" I answered "well of course" and we soon made a connection: he knew I don't mess with no bad papaya salad! Van mentioned his wife is Lao and if I'd prefer they can make the dish more Lao style. God must've been watching. It was at a Lao BBQ where I fell in love with papaya salad. I told him absolutely and honestly couldn't wait to see how this would come out. The papaya salad came out pretty darn gorgeous with quarter piece of fried chicken on the side. It had a deep danky funky ness to it and was pleasantly spicy. It was the kind of dish that hurt to eat but you couldn't stop eating... The sign of great papaya salad. The chicken itself was real crispy without being dry - almost a star in itself. Skipping to dessert we ordered the mango with coconut rice. This was insanely great as well. Mango was in season so perfectly ripe, sweet, and the coconut sauce served on sticky rice superb. This is another dish that interestingly enough Thai restaurants usually screw up cause they don't give it enough attention possibly due to popularity. These guys don't compromise. Thai VP is a hidden gem. Be adventurous and get the papaya salad lao style. Then get ready to be invigorated! read more

What a perfectly hidden gem of a place! This little diamond is tucked away behind the Crossroads mall, next to the Dominos delivery shop. Although petite in size, Thai VP's friendly staff and affordable menu make up for its snug interior. Admittedly, I have not tried everything on their menu, but their Golden Wings, Phad Thai (the meat was a tad dry though), Pineapple Red Curry, and Mango with Sticky Rice were yummy when I had it. However, what really entices me to return every time is their awesome customer service! The owner always includes a complimentary soup (clear chicken broth with rice and vegetables) whether or not you dine in, and will more often than not offer you water and complimentary coconut ice cream to snack on while you wait. You need to pay separately for the Jasmine rice that goes with the curry but I was okay with that since the steamed rice portion was bigger than what we get at other places. The Prawns Pineapple curry was decent sized, enough for one person. But the Kao Soy was huge !!! Parking is not a problem since the place is an undiscovered gem so not a lot of people parking around. I guess, if more people start showing up, we could potentially face long waits at the restaurant and fewer parking spots. This is definitely a great place to go if you wanna catch a movie at Crossroads. The food was served pretty quickly and the server was really efficient with bringing us water. They packed our leftovers for us and brought us their free in-house coconut ice cream alongwith the check. The ice-cream was SO DELICIOUS !!!!! I really should stop comparing other Thai restaurants, such as this one, to our go-to Thai place (that has since closed...bummer); but I can't help it!...hence the 3-star rating. We ordered crab delight, egg rolling stone (fried spring rolls) for appetizers; crispy chicken basil and pad thai with tamarind sauce for entrée. We got served with a complimentary soup that didn't look appetizing, but was actually good. The crab delight should've been called cream cheese delight, but the rest of the food was ok. In the end, we got served complimentary coconut ice cream that was very good. I say the soup and the ice cream are worth going back for and trying their other dishes. The service was good too. We were in the area and wanted Thai food, so I was looking online at what Thai restaurants in the area had cashew chicken, which is what my boyfriend wanted. When we got there, the restaurant was empty, while the restaurant next door, Dough Zone, was busy, which was what someone had mentioned in their Yelp review. We were the only ones eating in the restaurant the whole time we were there. So, my boyfriend ordered the Cashew Nut Lover's with chicken, I ordered the Wai Wai Noodle with beef, and we also ordered the Crystal Roll (Fresh Roll). The Cashew Nut Lover's had very good flavor, but I felt the Wai Wai Noodle, not so much. I ordered 5 stars spicy for the noodles, and did not taste any spice. I mean, you couldn't even see any spicy in it. With the noodles not having much flavor, some spiciness would have then really helped. So, I did not eat too much of it, and took the rest home so I can add my own hot sauce to it. I am giving it a 5 star because of the whole dining experience, choosing to overlook 1 minor defect of 1 appetizer. Considering the lack of good Thai place in Bellevue, this place is a total gem. :-) I came around 4:30 pm with my 5 year old for an afternoon bite. We ordered chicken satay $7.95 and summer fried eggplant with chicken $8.5. For $1.25, we got a big bowl of brown rice, which was perfectly cooked. We were also served with complimentary soup and coconut ice cream and even got a refill for for the ice cream when my daughter asked. The complimentary soup looked light and sketch but turned out to be really good. The chicken satay was a bit too dry and salty. Other than that, everything was perfectly cooked. Wow - hands down - THE. worst. customer. service. E.V.E.R. We were seated right away. Then waited about 10 minutes before someone took order. Then waited another 40 minutes for our food. I finally got up and asked: have you started on our food? The worker says: yes, right now, we are going to start. And the crazy part was - he appeared completely irritated that I asked. Did he not realize that we waited for 40 minutes before getting up. Had it been my second or even third time coming up to ask that question, I can see why he'd get irritated but it was my first time. We waited patiently because we saw that they had a group of 7 folks next to us and they seemed so incredibly overwhelmed by that group. This is a restaurant - is a group of 7 really too much for you to handle? During our 40 minutes of wait, they came by once (30 minutes into our wait) and said: oh your food is coming right out. Since we waited all this time, we thought we'd wait just a couple of more minutes. But another 10 minutes?? Especially with that kind of awful attitude and no customer service, what a horrible experience. We walked out. And will never return. Customer service is so important. I got takeout from here once, so this is a review based on the food only. I was craving some Kao Soy terribly one day when I was stuck working from home with a cold. I ordered online and was a little late getting there to pick up my food, but it was still warm once I got home and tucked in. The servers got me my food with no confusion, and the Kao Soy was outstanding. The spiciness of it really helped to clear out my sinuses, and the chicken was some much needed protein, as I hadn't had an appetite the entire day. We weren't familiar with Thai VP, but the reviews and photos were good, so I decided to give it a try. The food arrived via GrubHub in under 30 minutes from when I ordered, steaming hot. Despite ordering Panang Curry with the no-spice option, it had a mild kick to it, so my wife and I traded. Mildly spicy was great for me, and it tasted great (5 stars). My wife got my Swimming Angel and really enjoyed the flavor, but thought the peanut sauce was a bit thin (4 stars). Our kids had Phad Thai (3.5 stars) and the (Dungeness) Crab Fried Rice (3.5 stars). The portions were good-sized, each dish providing enough for about two entrees (yay for leftovers the next day!).
