We searched long and hard our first night in Charleston and were ecstatic to have found ThaiZapp. Every place we passed was packed with people out the door. We only found dessert bars, ice cream shops and seafood places. This was the option that made the most sense for my vegan friend and me. Our server was so friendly and helpful. He anticipated me needing a bag, chopsticks, napkins to pack our leftovers. I half jokingly asked if he had Thai heritage and his answer was "not yet." Hahahaha. My friend got the crunchy garlic tofu dish and I got the roast duck noodle soup. Delicious. She finished every bite of her dish and I thought my dish had a generous serving of duck. This review is only for takeout. I ordered one dish (a cashew stir fry) from ThaiZapp. Overall, the experience, besides the price, was really good. The online ordering portal was really easy, with lots of customization options and (this is very important IMO) a general comment section as well. I was able to order the stir fry with extra veggies and meat and specify my dietary restriction (no dairy) as well. The food was ready when promised and came nicely packaged. The staff was super nice as well. My stir-fry tasted good, above average actually, and as promised, had a lot of meat and veggies. All in all, a pretty good dish. My one issue was the price...the total with tax, fees, and a small ($2) tip came to just under $30. Yes, I got extra meat and veggies, but the dish was basically just enough food to fill me up. All in all, a great place to grab a healthy takeout in downtown Charleston, but just know that it will be a bit pricy. read more

This is the best Thai food I've had in Charleston so far and I can't believe it is not more busy. We came on a Saturday night and there was still tons of tables to sit our party of eight. The restaurant is well-decorated and servers are quick and efficient. I always order family style when I come just so everyone can try all the delicious dishes. We got the pad thai, pad see ew, coconut soup, larb gai, papaya salad, drunken noodles, and boat noodle soup. - They have the BEST pad thai - chewy noodles, the perfect sauce with just enough sweet and sour flavor, fresh bean sprouts, and protein of your choice. So good that we had to order a second plate. - The pad see ew has good flavor - I wish the noodles could have more char but the flavor is on point. - The larb gai is well-seasoned with sweet and sour fish sauce - a great appetizer to start off with. - The papaya salad is fresh and flavorful, with a skewer of shrimp on top. I would warn that we told the waitress our party had some people heavily allergic to peanuts and to take all the nuts out, but there was still peanuts mixed into this dish. - The drunken noodles are chewy with good flavor, but I'll always be more of a pad thai fan. - The boat noodles here are super savory and yummy. I don't see this dish often on menus so I always have to order it. Tons of umami and garlic flavor with rice noodles, strips of meat, and pork rinds. This definitely hits the spot. Truly the best Thai food in Charleston by far. Parking can be tough, but there is a paid parking garage right next door if you don't mind the hourly rate. Good Food and great portions but service needs a lot of improvement we had a large group About 6 families of 4 each. The restaurant was able to seat us all but in separate tables as they didn't have a large enough table for all of us. About the service the tables didn't have silver ware or paper napkins or any kind of napkin, and they never brought one to the table. We tried to make it easy for them by asking them to take orders by family so they can bring a separate check for each family but they failed to be organized and showed their frustration to us by throwing tantrums and weird looks. Coming to the food, the quantity is great, and food tasted very good and is cooked to taste and they followed the instructions on spice levels I believe the cooking staff is doing an excellent job at sending out orders. Recommend this restaurant if you do not mind the poor service of the waiting staff. read more

The service is great, although the food did take a bit longer than expected to come to the table. I ordered the Massaman Curry which chicken which was really good and surprised me with the addition of pineapple which usually is not present in this type of curry. This is my first time having Thai food since moving to Charleston 2 years ago, so I can't compare to other local spots, but based on my previous experiences (which are many), this was about as good as it gets. We had the Tom Kha soup, the Massaman Curry and the Drunken Noodles, basic staples for us at a Thai restaurant. We were very pleased, the spice was good, we ordered it level 2 and that was plenty spicy (and we're not spice wimps!) The curry was good and not oily like you can see sometimes. We heard that a new Thai restaurant opened up downtown on March 19, 2023. My husband checked it out and ended up bringing dinner home. The restaurant is a chain, but it's cozy and clean. The soup was delicious. The sushi bar looked amazing, so that's mainly what we ordered. We had four different rolls and they were absolutely first class. There was no 'fishy' smell when we opened the takeout boxes at home. The fish was fresh and beautiful. The rolls were much bigger than we expected. My husband drank a beer and chatted with the staff while our food was being prepared. Everyone was friendly and they took good care of him. I don't know what could've been done better. The next day, my daughter and a friend went downtown and, upon my recommendation, visited this restaurant. They said the food was top (they mostly had sushi) and the staff was great. It's a couple dollars more than Mount Pleasant sushi restaurants, but it's literally downtown across from the Charleston Place, which is perfect. We will definitely be back. read more

This place was absolutely dead when we walked in at 6:30 on a Friday night. And I have no idea why-- the food was PHENOMENAL! Truly delicious. Every single person at our table was satisfied. We all stopped talking for a while to just enjoy the hot, fresh food in front of us. The 2 was the perfect heat for me.
