Amazing thai food right in Watertown CT! I like to get the pad thai with fried tofu. They put LOTS of veggies in their dishes, which is great. I've also tried the drunken noodles - very good. I need to try the famous papaya salad next time. We tried the crispy pad thai once and it was hard to eat. The noodles were fried, didn't soak up any sauce, and tasted like nothing. That was a miss. I look forward to trying more stuff on their menu! read more

Moved to the area last fall and was happy to see their sign. We finally decided to try their food and were very happy we did. Firstly, the staff were really nice and very pleasant. The food was hot and fresh. The appetizers were great and our noodles were very good. Prices are incredible! Thai Bowl is a great addition to my hometown, where mostly mom and pop pizza restaurants dominates this little town. I remember when they first opened it used to be called Thai Basil, but I assume they probably changed owners or decided to rename. We stopped there for lunch after a wine tasting in town. Service was excellent the whole time we were there. We were greeted right away and given a choice to sit at any table we liked. Glasses of water was brought to our table with the menus. The staff checked on everyone frequently and refilled waters without waiting for someone to request, which was nice. I decided to get the pad see ew with beef and my mom got the pad Thai with grilled shrimp. Now looks can be deceiving; even though my dish looked like it lack flavor, it was actually pretty good and didn't need any additions (think soy sauce) to give it more flavor. The shrimp in my mom's pad Thai were huge and grilled perfectly, yes I stole a bite lol. It was very good as well. The lunch price is pretty reasonable as all the ingredients were very fresh and blended well together. Since Thai Bowl is located on Main St, your only option is street parking, unless you plan on going to the meat center nearby afterwords and you can park in that lot, but I highly discourage that. A great place in town to get your Thai fix. I know I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. read more

This place has the best Thai food in the area. I ordered takeout and they have a cute little takeout window on the side of the building. I have tried a few other places but this thai place puts them to shame. They even put the curry puffs in a metallic lined bag so they stay crispy. The TAMARIND DUCK is crazy good!!!! So tender and full of flavor. The sauce is like teriyaki but less sweet. Its accompanied by a very firm short grain purple rice. Ordered it medium spicy. Mmmphh!!! I've also had the pineapple fried rice with duck. Has raisins, cashews, egg, etc. Next time I'll ask for them to dice the meat up. I inhaled it though. Also had the pad thai with tofu and veggies. I inhaled that too. They use high quality takeout containers that microwave well. This will become a fast fave of yours too. read more

Delicious food, excellent service. We ordered marinated shrimp with peanut sauce as an appetizer and they were delicious and cooked perfectly. Entrees were Chili Duck and a sliced beef dish. Both were very good, flavorful and filling. The duck was mildly spicy and in a sweet, but not very sweet, sauce. The hot thai tea was very tasty. For anyone that has read my review on another local Thai place called "Thai in Love", this review will have a familiar ring to it. For those who haven't read that review, you may feel a little out of the loop, as it were. So you know what, if you haven't...just go read it now. I'll wait..... So anyway, being the Thai food expert that I am, I was super anxious to try this place after the grand re-opening. We had given the former place a try before it closed and were not impressed with the portions or prices. The food was great, but yeah...I had a feeling it wouldn't last long. Shortly after the re-opening, a friend and I were discussing the current Thai situation and he had mentioned that him and his wife had been here a few times and loved it. He raved about it to great lengths. So, coming from the guy who initially recommended Thai in Love to me, I had to assume that this was going to be a slam dunk. Compound that with the fact that it's about 10 minutes closer? Let's do this. For an opening take out order, we went with a couple chef's specials (Garlic Beef and Crispy Chicken with Basil) and a couple "standard" noodle selections (Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle). Placed the order over the phone and was given a 20 minute wait. Not bad! I also liked the fact that they read the order back to me very carefully to assure accuracy. Showed up for pick up 20 minutes later, food was warm and ready to go. I was also super impressed with the dining room and overall atmosphere of the place. I wasn't staying to eat, but once I walked in I kind of wished I was. Very contemporary and clean looking. As I was ringing out, a friend of mine who WAS dining in called me over to say hello. I asked him what his and his family thought and they all loved it. Was feeling super positive now! Got the food home and dug in, and instantaneously could taste the awesomeness. I'm not saying it's way beyond Thai in Love, it's comparable to better depending on the dish. But as far as portions go, Thai bowl takes the medal there. I could have stopped eating and been full half way through, but I decided to play the fat guy card and power through. Spices were amazing, noodle texture on point, meats were juicy and flavorful. Couldn't ask much more as far as quality and taste go. And being the guy that always orders everything at a "5" heat level, I will say that Thai Bowl's 5 is one of the best I've had. Went back for seconds the weekend after (which we almost never do the 2 weekend in a row double down) and again, everything was excellent. Overall, this is just another in a string of amazing Watertown culinary gems. My Thai grandmother would be impressed. read more

The food at the Tai Bowl in Watertown, CT was a delicious make up of Asian cuisine at it's finest. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were professional and prompt. We had the crab rangoon and shrimp and the wonton soup that was out of this world. I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. It was a great place to sit and enjoy the company of my friends. Had an excellent meal here with quality service! The family that runs this place are definitely hospitable! I had the pad Thai noodles with chicken! Excellent tasting and super huge portions! We also tried the spring rolls! They were also delightful! I had a coffee with coconut milk in it as well. It was very good but I feel as though you would need a sweet tooth to enjoy it. My new favorite Thai place. Excellent papaya salad (crunchy and fresh) with a nice burn. Drunken noodles were sweet with a nice spice. Spicy basil fried rice had great chunks of onions, green beans and deliciously spiced shrimp and chicken. Everything was well prepared. Service was good. Restaurant is cozy and comfortable. Maybe more like 2-1/2 stars? We came here on the strength of Yelp reviews and were disappointed. While the service was attentive, the food was definitely just okay. We got the special appetizer - a tofu wrapped crab something - and I couldn't tell what kind it was, but it was fried and tasty... I had the crispy Pad Thai, which was rather flavorless. My spouse got the fried chicken w crispy basil. He wondered why it was sliced after frying instead of being small fried pieces and thought the chicken was perhaps originally frozen. The drunken noodle was slight spicy but tastes great. My only suggestion would be having the veggies chopped smaller and less veggies and more noodles. Cute little place with street parking and lots of variety of food you can choose from. I would definitely come back here if I were back in the area and try more items. I'm not even going to lie, this place is fantastic. In one of my other reviews, I've talked about Pho Boston in West Hartford. An authentic Vietnamese restaurant- their pho noddle soup is amazing. However, Thai Bowl may be better. It is so good, I look forward to the next time I come here. Their spicy pad Thai is amazing too and my husband doesn't typically like Asian cuisine and even he doesn't mind this place! That's a win win in my book. read more

Really loved everything we got. We shared a crispy spring roll and crab Rangoon which we both loved! Then I got a spicy pad Thai with chicken and my friend got a pad Thai with chicken. We went for lunch so the portions were a bit smaller but we found it perfect as we had just enough room for it all. Service was prompt and our waitress was kind. My favorite Thai place hands down. The food is always so fresh and delicious!! Veggies are never wilted or aged which is huge for me since I always get Pho Soup. What REALLY impressed me today... I ordered take out 2 months ago and they forgot to give me an Iced Thai Tea. No big deal. I wasn't that upset because I understand that kind of stuff happens (I work in the industry). Well I ordered takeout tonight again and they sent my tea that they forgot in my last order!! They must have a way to note this stuff in the system! How amazing! I was blown away.
