Thaipan Kitchen is located inside the famous Pyramid on Miramar Rd. They are the sister location to Ping Yang Thai which operates a vendor booth at the Market on 8th Food Hall in National City. The suite was tiny so if you wanted to dine on-site, there were several tables scattered in the atrium on the ground level. The place is currently open on weekdays from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Breakfast service ends at 11:00. The menu was a blend of Filipino, Japanese, and Thai cuisines which differs from its older sibling. The diversity of offerings ranged from tocilog to musubi to karaage to tom yum soup to pad thai. The chef had to be quite skilled to be able to produce such a variety. I showed up near the end of breakfast hours and picked a Spam Musubi and the Spamsilog. The former was decent in size and priced at $3.50. The Spamsilog was a bowl of garlic fried rice topped with three pieces of Spam, two fried eggs, and green onions. A small cup of vinegar sauce was provided on the side. This was a classic Filipino breakfast item that had lots of salt and acid from the Spam and sauce, respectively. The serving size was respectable for $14.50. I always thought the Pyramid was strictly office space and never knew that an eatery was doing business there until now. Most of the neighboring suites were being renovated which made it feel empty on the main floor. From what I tried at Thaipan Kitchen, the experience was around a four star rating.

Went in there. For a quick bite to eat was very surprised how great it was. I liked it so much. I told my coworker she asked me to bring her a to-go as well. And she loved it as well. We will be back again.

The service was really good, the guy came out to give our food, the ambiance is pretty nice, it's quiet and there wasn't a lot of people. The food also came within a reasonable time and was delicious. Nice and hot, very fresh tasting. I got the tamarind chicken with rice and chicken gyoza. I also had some of their tom kha soup, very delicious and flavorful. Only thing is that there's airplanes nearby or something, but delicious food, will definitely be coming here again.

Pineapple fried rice with chicken, and chicken satay, were both perfect. My order of the sweet chili wings was estimated to take 25 minutes to prepare and came with the sauce separate as requested. FOOD 2/5 sweet chili wings: actually wings and drumsticks and had a tougher texture that did not taste freshly fried, which was disappointing given the $15 price point for 7 wings. Even though the wings didn't deliver, the chicken satay with peanut sauce was tasty

My friend and I shared a papaya salad, the duck curry, and the beef ribs. We both agreed the duck curry was the best, but the protein portion was a bit small. The curry was flavorful and not too spicy. The beef ribs were good as well, just not what we expected and was saucey. The papaya salad was decent. I felt like there was some flavor missing in it. We were both filled at the end of it. Overall not bad, a bit overpriced, and I feel like you can get more bang for your buck at a normal Vietnamese/ Lao restaurant. It was worth a try though!

I went with one of my girlfriends tonight at about 5:30 PM. We were quickly seated. I ordered a mango lemonade, which came out quite fast and was beautiful. It tasted pretty good too. I asked the server for recommendations on the menu, but she seemed startled by my question, like she was not used to giving recommendations. The two items that she did recommend didn't really sound appealing so I went with Pad See Ew with mock duck. That's one of my go to dishes at a Thai restaurant. I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. I would be open to trying it again just because I've heard so many good things that I can't believe this is their standard experience.

I took off one star because it seemed like the pad see ew was smothered in white pepper. == SERVICE == Service was a bit slow, but we think it was because we were waiting for the rice to be cooked? However, the staff was polite, apologetic about the delay, and very attentive. She gave us free mango sticky rice. == AMBIANCE == Interior is very nice and there is bar seating too. The bathroom is also very clean. If you don't mind a slower-paced meal and a chaotic parking lot, the amazing Lao and Thai flavors are completely worth it!
