Busy restaurant in PQ with nice decor and a wide variety of authentic thai dishes on their menu. Our server was genuinely kind, and attentive. The food came out quick, table was cleared and water refilled in a timely manner. Everything we ordered was delicious. There's still so much on the menu to try.

Aaharn 56 is a great thai spot in north county! It wasn't busy on a weeknight so our party got seated immediately. Portion sizes are big, food is flavorful and waiters were attentive. I ordered the green curry at level 3 spice which was perfect! I was able to take home leftovers as well. The restaurant has a lot of tables with plenty of seating. I recommend coming here if you want thai food but don't want to go all the way to convoy!

Delicious and spicy Thai food was calling our name this night and we ordered take out from here before so we decided to actually sit and dine here for this time. This spot is definitely popular for and is a busyish shopping center. My go to is always yellow curry with chicken and I love spice so I did a level 5 which definitely has heat but I enjoyed it; highly advise stirring it up so the spice spreads throughout the dish. My husband did the panang curry which has become his new favorite as well as the seafood soup which was loaded with all different types of seafood even with it being just a cup. Service can be a little slow to start but the food comes out fast and I truly think it is because they are a busy spot and you can tell they are hustling but the quality of food I think is really good.

Dinner with family in this beautiful space. I love the mid century meeting modern decor. There's warm browns and also some sharp patterns to accent the space. As for the food, I always have to get a Tom Kha. The gyoza was nice and crispy. The Bangkok Naan was sour wild card dish tonight. It used Massaman curry. Quite tasty. The servers were attentive offering refills, timely clearing of plates, and proactive with to go boxes

I tried this place for the first time yesterday evening. Food, great. Atmosphere, great. Service needs some serious revision. I was served by a young waiter who started off with no greeting but rather a "do you know what you want?" Then he put my order in wrong by adding chicken to my salad after I intentionally ordered it without protein. When I mentioned this to him he told me the salad automatically comes with protein. When I corrected him he literally said, "that's why you need to read the menu". Before we started going back and forth, my friend asked him to bring over the menu. He holds it up from afar saying "see, its says it right here". I proceeded to ask to hold the menu. I show him that he is clearly wrong, protein is an additional charge, yet he does not apologize. Instead, he bluntly tells me he will remove the chicken and then drags the salad away. The server was extremely rude when all I wanted was to not be charged for something I did not order. He then came back with my salad after removing the chicken and assured me I would not be charged by saying "i got you dude", as if it is some big favor to me??? This is no joke the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not only did he tell me to read the menu to my face, he doubled down, then didn't even apologize. He was lucky we were not a different kind of group. In the moment I was too shocked to ask for a manager, but looking back I should have. I hope that this isn't the kind of service this place usually has.

I came here a handful of times. I like the fact that it's close to home and the parking lot isn't terrible. Entrees are more authentic than most - thus the 4 star rating. I also appreciate that they have more selection of noodle soup items ( more than just boat noodles) since noodle soup is my comfort food of choice. I like the Thai decor and vibe of this restaurant as well. Takes me back to Thailand for a minute.

Food is pretty good! We got the e-san ribs as appetizers. Those were, in the kindest words, as mid as you can get. Wonderful flavor but the tendons inside were unsettling. We also got the lamb massaman curry to split. This was the best part of our meal, easily. Lamb was falling off the bone and we tried to gobble up the remaining curry even though we were stuffed.

I love going to Aaharn Thai, even though there's another Thai restaurant in this area that we also like. You can never have too many Thai food options, in my opinion. The food at Aaharn is always fresh and yummy! Favorites include tangerine chicken, pad see ew, tom kha soup, panang curry and cream cheese puffs. And the service is great! My biggest (and only) complaint is the loud doorbell that goes off every time someone goes in or out. I wish they'd fix that -- it's disruptive when eating there.

PAD SEE EW NOODLES, SIAMESE FRIED RICE
    Viv N.

My family wanted to try someplace new since our favorite thai restaurant recently shut down. I was hopeful due to the good rating & reviews but unfortunately, the food was very disappointing....Wayyy too spicy on mild. They added lots of chili flakes which have a peppery kind of spice, the worst kind imo. It completely overpowered the taste & it was hard to eat more than a few bites in a sitting without a glass of water. The pad see ew was a little too greasy and salty, basically doused in soy sauce (hence the dark color of the noodles). The fried rice was better but nothing special. We probably won't be coming back...

Aaharn 56 Thai quickly made it onto our repeat list after our first dine-in visit -- this place delivers on flavor, freshness, and warm hospitality. Having tried take-out from here and loved the food, we wanted to try dine-in too. Chicken Satay: Tender, juicy skewers were very mildly marinated served with a creamy, well-balanced peanut sauce and a tangy cucumber relish that added the right amount of brightness. Tom Kha Soup: Comfort in a bowl but watch out for the spice that creeps up on you! The broth was rich, coconutty, and very aromatic. Drunken Noodles with Chicken: Bold and spicy in the best way. Extremely flavorful but next time we will definitely ease back on the spice for this dish.We typically order medium spice (level 5) at Thai restaurants but given this was a spicy dish to start out with, 5 turned out to be a bit too hot for the kids. Crab Meat Pad Thai: thoroughly enjoyed this dish- noodles were perfectly cooked and sauced, with just the right amount of sweetness and tang. Vineyard Golden Fish: This dish stole the show -- crispy whole fish with a tangy, sweet-and-sour salad ( which I wish they added to the menu as a stand alone!). The presentation was gorgeous, and the fish was flaky and tender inside. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell this place takes pride in its food and wants you to enjoy every bite. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit!

Delicious curry sauce I went with the beef but it needed a tad more seasoning. Asked for a 5 for spicy and it was perfect

One of underrated Thai food spots in Daygo my family has been coming here for years, staff friendly, little pricey, sometimes but worth it.

Shan Xi Magic Kitchen has been on my Yelp Want To Go list ever since my brother and SIL told me…read morethat they really enjoyed a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas and were told that a similar restaurant existed in San Diego. After their experience in Vegas, they tried Shan Xi themselves and glowingly talked about the delish food there. Today, 3/4s of my fam ate here and we definitely concurred with my brother and SIL's favorable assessment. 4.5 stars because their grub was amazing, but it could be more customer friendly where one of the staff checks to see if we need help ordering instead of ordering from the QR code menu. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen is located in the ultra competitive Convoy Asian District specifically on Convoy Street within the Convoy Village shopping center. The restaurant is next to our fave Asian drink place called Yun Tea, it's next to Olleh KBBQ, next door to Szechuan Chef, and a short walk to BB.Q Chicken. This is a popular strip mall, so it could be challenging for you to find parking. Parking is free for 90 minutes, but you'll have to pay after that time ends. Shan Xi is nice inside with gray brick on their walls, decorative lighting surrounded by rattan, Chinese dolls on a shelf, Chinese inspired figurine art on another wall, and a beautiful curio/screen containing Chinese knick knacks. Seating consists of tables/chairs and a long leather bench. Our servers were friendly, but to me having to order from a QR code is impersonal. I'd rather talk to a person, so that I can ask what they recommend. Plus, if diners aren't familiar with this type of cuisine, I'm sure they would have a bunch of questions. From Shan Xi Magic Kitchen's website, "Bringing the bold flavors of Northwest China to San Diego, Shan'xi Magic Kitchen serves authentic regional specialties. Our restaurants specialize in hand-pulled noodles, savory bread-based dishes, and traditional Chinese comfort food prepared with time-honored techniques." After being told that Shan Xi was similar to their positive dining experience at a different Chinese restaurant in Vegas, my brother and SIL tried Shan Xi and they were impressed by what they ate here and told us that we needed to eat here ourselves. Since my wife and I were off midweek, we invited our son to join us for lunch. We ordered the following dishes and feel free to mimick what we ordered: spicy cumin lamb burger, hand pulled noodle with cumin beef, beef magic fried rice, dry fried green beans, and a side of white rice. My brother and SIL love the lamb burger as a appetizer and we really thought it was tasty too. If you're not a spicy fan, this might not be for you, but the lamb was tender. The pita bread needed to be softer. Their hand pulled noodle with cumin beef was stellar, chewy, and delectable. Loved their beef magic fried rice and it ate really well by itself. The fried green beans were addicting, garlicky, and just yummy. I'm a fan Shan Ci and can't wait to try their other entrees. My brother and SIL were spot on with their positive reviews about Shan Xi Magic Kitchen. It was a blessing to have a spontaneous meet up with 3/4s of my fam and grub on some memorable Chinese food.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. Oodles by the Noodbar has such a large and diverse menu so I would highly recommend coming in to try them out.

I know people who love this place so much that it is part of their regular rotation. Me being born and raised in San Diego without ever trying it almost felt like a crime. I finally decided it was time to pay a visit. We came with a party of five. The seating setup was a little different from what I expected. We ended up at a long picnic table style booth that we shared with another couple. It honestly was not an issue since there was still plenty of space. It was just a different concept for me. The servers were super friendly and bubbly. They moved fast too. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles, Fresh Spring Rolls, the famous Spicy Garlic Wings plus the Korean Beef Short Ribs. The Fresh Spring Rolls were good. They were filled with shrimp, thinly sliced pork, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, basil plus bean sprouts. The peanut plum hoisin sauce definitely carried them though. Add some of their chili sauce into it too. Delicious. Now for the Spicy Garlic Wings. I know everyone raves about these, but honestly, based on the ones we got, I feel like I would rather have Wingstop. They were really dry. I even asked a friend who has been here before if that was normal. Apparently they are usually not like that, so maybe we just caught them on a bad day or they spent a little too much time in the fryer. Either way, they had definitely lost a lot of their moisture. The flavor was there, but the dryness made it hard for them to really stand out to me. My favorite was easily the Korean Beef Short Ribs. They came out sizzling over caramelized onions with a generous amount of marinated meat. Great flavor. Great texture. Delicious. This was probably the one dish I would order again without thinking twice. The Char-grilled Beef, Eggroll & Cold Vermicelli Noodles were fine. The noodles were a little too bouncy and chewy for me. They almost tasted slightly underdone. The grilled beef had great flavor though. Once everything was mixed with the fish sauce, it came together much better.
