I came in for a haircut. I had received hair extensions the previous day from another salon ( PDX hair extensions). I called PDX hair extensions that next morning first to see if getting a haircut would help with the heaviness and pain I was feeling. They didn't answer so I googled another salon. I found Thairapy PDX. I booked a haircut with Hillary. I showed up for a haircut. As Hilary looked at my hair she noticed traction damage. Her other co workers circled around and took video and pictures of the damage. I had clip in hair sewn, metal clamped and glued into my hair when I thought I was getting regular weft extensions sewed in. My scalp was red and my parts were very wide due to pulling. Hillary removed all of the extentions for me. I am so grateful they saved me from bald spots that would have occurred within 48 more hours. Hillary and all the stylist at Thairapy are skilled, ethical and compassionate. I wish I would ha e gone to them to begin with. read more

I had a Keratin treatment and blowout with Phoenix at Thairapy in the Pearl District. The appointment started out with her asking me what I wanted to get out of the treatment and then she made a custom formula. My hair was so shiny and smooth afterwards and the blowout lasted five days! Now my hair is back to curly and it's definitely smoother than before. read more

Hairstylist Bryce was amazing!! He was super flexible, offered suggestions to both extensions and color. If you want to work with someone who knows their stuff, this is the place to go. The owner is the kindest and so knowledgeable about her craft. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with Lyndsay back in April. It was just after everything in Portland was shutting down due to COVID and the salon was taking precautions, so it was just her and myself (I should state - they go ABOVE AND BEYOND with how serious they are taking this global pandemic. Kudos to them. I'm high risk so this was really important). She was extremely informative and reviewed my information and what I was interested in, to be sure she was on the same page, and that she could help me. I initially booked for extension and was so happy. Sadly, I let her know the next day that because of the changes in my job and my partners as everything shut down, I was no longer able to afford the service at the present moment. She was extremely understanding, and because I canceled within the correct window of time, as stated in my paperwork, I received a full refund. Called to ask some questions about the extension options they had (being that I have been getting and doing extensions for over 10 years now) the experience with the lady on the phone was enough to make me run for the hills but after hearing there OUTRAGEOUS pricing I was quick to get off the phone! I've travelled all over the USA and have tried multiple different locations methods and even wildly popular hair stylists and none have charged 1800-3500 for any type of extensions and I have had the best of the best NYC DC LA you name it!! All looked just as good if not better then this place! That being said I pay usually 1000-1300 for keratin bonded 18inch extensions at MOST! with curl or wave included as well as had ultra sound wave application as if that's not bougie enough! For years I wanted thick, long and modelesque hair. I naturally have a lot of fine hair and did not think I could grow it long and have it look the way I dreamt. After spending a few years with short (but stylish) shoulder length hair I decided to try and grow it longer. After two years I just wasn't satisfied. I had the length, but my pony tail wasn't thick. I started shopping salons in Portland and had my eye on Thairapy Pdx. I saw the owner introduce new talent that had joined their salon, Phoenix, and knew it was time to pick her brain on extensions and see if we could achieve this goal of mine. When I say Phoenix blew it out of the water with my hair I mean it. She dedicated her entire Saturday to install 18 inches of the most stunning keratin extensions. We decided on a mix of red wine and a purply toned red keratin extension over top a fresh dye of deep "mermaid" red on my natural hair. The colors she picked out blended perfectly. The installation and blending of the new keratin hair into my natural hair is virtually seamless and I could not be more happy with her work. Not to mention Phoenix is very knowledgeable and experienced with all types of hair extensions, methods of installation and knows her colors/formulas well. I enjoyed my day getting to observe the professionalism and grace she exhibits and would recommend her to anyone interested in high quality extension installation / cut and color. I just had a root touch up and and low-lights done with Nilza Villanueva. I came in with light blond hair and I left with black roots and dark brown hair. The stylist did not ask me about my color preferences (so I assumed she would jus tust the color of my hair for the roots), and she does not know that one cannot use dark colors on light blond color treated hair,. It looks horrible; and the salon refused to do a color correction, claiming that it "looks great". Avoid this place at any cost! read more

I called and left a message on Saturday to possibly book a consultation. I was wanting to increase the volume and length of my hair with extensions. I have previously had extensions before, but it's been years. I got a call today (Tuesday) from a gal who's name I can't remember now, and she asked me some initial questions on the call to which I had explained I've previously had extensions before but it's been awhile. I also told her that I went out over the weekend and purchased hair given that I had some time in my schedule and that the hair was returnable if I purchased the wrong kind. I explained the type of hair I had purchased and that I had some questions about the process of application. I'm not sure what went wrong in the conversation, but it immediately turned south and the gal I was talking to, that started off so polite and nice, was all of a sudden rude and had an attitude. She was talking to me like I was a 5 year old, it was really demeaning. She went on to defensively explain that she can try to get me in with someone in person, but she was only asking me certain questions to try and match me with the stylist who has the skills associated with a certain application process. I had no problem with the questions or having her try to match me, I had a problem with the way she was talking to me. It was super unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. I'm the type of person that wants to be treated kindly and respectfully (doesn't everybody?). If it was a more professional conversation, I would've booked the consult and then immediately booked the service. It honestly amazes me that businesses go about their service this way.
