Such a surprise to find delicious food and lovely service on our way up the coast to Paso Robles. We wandered in for dinner based on location ( easy access from the highway) and ability to safely eat outdoors with our dog. The restaurant is pretty and the staff are eager to please and make recommendations. Both the caprese salad and caprese torte were delicious first courses. The pizza Bianca had crispy study and a nice mixture of cheeses. Pastas were al dente with amazing house-made sauces. Last night my friends and i had a wonderful dinner all of us (14) really enjoyed our food. Service was great all the dishes were very tasty and were served hot. Ambiance was excellent. We felt as if we were in a town in Italy. Two in our party arrived late at 8;30 pm they gracefully served them their pizzas ordered before closing. The new owners have improved the menu, simple, fresh and very flavorful. Being a local for many years, the restaurant never appeal to me, now it feels cozy and inviting. We went to an art opening at the nearby Lobstertown and decided to try Thario's. We both had the chicken piccata--my husband without changes and me with veggies instead of pasta (avoiding gluten). It was delicious with big chunks of tender chicken and (in my case) a fabulous side of sauteed mushrooms, artichokes, zucchini and red peppers in olive oil and garlic. I was looking for a location to host a wedding rehearsal dinner for my son and his fiancé on a Saturday evening, having spent an entire day (8 hours) visiting restaurants in the Carpenteria area. Many restaurants said they would not be able to do it on a Saturday, and others told us they could not let us have a seating section for just our party. This was discouraging and I quickly realized that I was just another customer they didn't need, (although for me it was an important life event!) Then, I stumbled upon Thario's Kitchen, and I am SO HAPPY the others turned me away, because I discovered the BEST PLACE OF ALL in Thario's!!!! Everything is homemade and the place smells amazing! The staff (family) is absolutely wonderful, and Mario did everything to ensure we had an incredible experience. There were 24 of us for this dinner, and at my request we were seated on the patio in the front which is magical and intimate, beautifully lighted with heaters and lovely plants and flowers. They waited on us hand and foot, the food and drinks kept coming, and all of our group loved everything!!! To top it off, they had the most wonderful piano player/singer and we all gathered to sing along (including the staff!!) for the most magical evening!!! I cannot thank Thario's enough for making this night so special. They are a lovely family and truly added to a very important life moment. Hello locals. This restaurant changed hands about a month on so ago.I live nearby and pass it every day. Tonight I dropped in. Clearly a slow night since this is the first of the two Debate Nights. I ordered my usual, spaghetti and meatballs. I was very pleasantly surprised for A to Z. Service was spot on, the tastes were subtle, the pasta was cooked to perfection. On my way home from Santa Barbara, I decided to stop at Padaro Beach for a relaxing dinner (by myself) and to catch up on some reading. I had no intention of having pizza and figured I would probably end up at an outdoor sandwich place that we had frequented with my grandchildren in the past. I walked the length of the shops and came across this beautiful little patio with their enticing specials displayed and decided to give it a try. Had the pizza special (prosciutto, artichoke and mushrooms.) Very good. Crust was pretty thin and firm but not super crisp except the edges, just the way I like it! 10-12 inch pizza was plenty for me and I took half home to share. Service was excellent and price was reasonable. Had a hard time deciding what I wanted to try!! Patio dining was perfect! The tiramisu was very cutely presented and light but also a little light on flavor. My personal opinion is that it could have used some (or more) coffee liqueur or Kahlua. It was disappointing that they were unable to serve coffee with dessert. Glad to hear they have a gluten free pasta and hope to see a gluten free pizza crust in the future. Otherwise, totally enjoyable experience and I will return to try other menu options. This little gem has the sweetest owners and most authentic staff - it's as if you stepped into their own home kitchens. Everything is made to order- this is not fast food. Expect to spend at least an hour here (voluntarily 2+ hrs!) and it is well worth the wait. Orders are large enough to split - come with a few friends and make it family style to try many different flavors. We came for dinner on a Thursday and the place was quiet. Complimentary bread with black olive tapenade came out immediately, with our ordered bruschetta platter following closely behind as our starting appetizers. Bright, fresh tomatoes topped the toasted bread was brought up complimented beautifully with more bread topped with freshly made creamy house pesto (with real pine nuts, garlic and parmesan - no shortcuts here). We ordered the lasagna, and eggplant Parmesan as our entrees as well as a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon to tide us over on the 30 minutes it would take to cook and chatted with family. By the time we had finished the bruschetta and a glass of wine, our food came out and we split the two entrees with 3 people and still had enough to bring some home. One of the owners, Thais, surprised us with a dessert simply called "chocolate bites" that had tiny bite sized lava cakes served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that had caramel swirled in. On our way home Sunday night from a trip up north. Craving pizza, so we stopped by...and we're so glad we did! The family was so nice, and the pizza was fantastic. There was six of us stopping for lunch. We ate on the patio which was lovely, but we also admired the interior which was warm and inviting. We shared two pizzas: the caciotta and the vegetali plus the penne with salmon. All were delicious and of course we made room for dessert and we ordered all of them: the tiramisu, the chocolate mousse and the chocolate bites. All were spectacularly delicious. My partner and I stumbled upon this little hideaway restaurant last week at its grand opening. We were delighted with the excellent food and the exquisite service! We had a delicious arugula and goat cheese salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette followed by a homemade pasta with all sorts of fresh vegetables cooked in olive oil and garlic. The homemade chocolate dessert was yummy. Thaïs is a fabulous chef and very accommodating and creative; Mario is a wonderful host; and Soffana is a very attentive and kind server. Don't read the reviews from earlier this year or last year because these are the new owners so everything is different now. Really a gem! Happy that we discovered it, and we will definitely be back. This place is knockout fabulous! I ran across it because I asked a gentleman eating on their patio how it was and he said, "You have to have the stew." He was so enthusiastic I came back another day to order the stew. That day it was a brisket with carrots in tomato sauce; it was the real deal, like a hearty, mouth-watering French or Italian country stew. The taste lived up to the look. Plus when I was unsure about whether I wanted the mashed potatoes that came with it or vegetables instead, Thais, the Belgian-Brazilian owner and cook, said she would fix me something so I could try both. She prepared luscious overflowing portions of stew, mashed potatoes, a vegetable medley like ratatouille that could have stood on its own as a meal, and a mini-loaf of Italian bread. This gem has not even been open a year -- please let's help it survive! To make matters worse, there is construction going on nearby. Pass on the word about this secret treasure. We stumbled upon this amazing spot on our way back to LA from a Summerland B&B. We were originally headed to Padaro Beach Cafe, but smelled the incredible food here while parking, and had to stop in. When we arrived we found out this is under new management, being run by a lovely husband and wife (the chef) team. FYI, the name will change soon. We ordered the Lasagna and Bolongese entrees. Both were huge portion sizes and fantastic. I am very picky when it comes to any type of red pasta sauce, and these were some of the best I've had in ages. I would put the bolongese sauce on par with Scarpetta or any other top Italian restaurant in LA or Little Italy in NYC. They also served a lovely appetizer of pizza dough bread and black olive tapenade. The tapenade was very mild and perfect for my palate. Depending on your taste, you may prefer something more pungent. My partner had the house Cabernet and loved it. He's notoriously picky with his reds, so this was a big win. Cute ambiance as well...we enjoyed eating on the patio. The cost was reasonable. We will definitely be back here the next time we're in the area! This place is a find! Real from-scratch Italian food run by a lovely young husband and wife. They bought Borrellos and have now changed the name. The pizzas are amazing but the real star is the homemade lasagna--call ahead and make sure they haven't sold out! The salads are also surprisingly good.
