All right, so five stars should almost be aspirational, but sometimes it's just that I'm so damn happy that criticisms seem petty. Was the food maybe a couple bucks more expensive than I would have like to pay, yes. Was the sangria kinda boring, a bit. If you were looking for some coherent decor, nah, not going to find it here. What you are going to find is honest, well-made food that values the ingredients and the flavor over the pretense. Even that decor, charming as hell. The people that work here / own this place are fantastic. Attentive, friendly (the chef walked out to the patio just to give a pooch some love). They had their gorgeous tomatoes ripening in the sun, herbs growing on the patio. The pastrami was amazing. Fatty, spicy, melt in your mouth goodness. Crunchy, toasted rye bread. Homemade bread and butter pickles. My girlfriend ordered the lobster roll. Maybe would have wanted it a tad more buttery, but it was juicy and the lobster was piled high and the roll itself perfectly flaky and soft. The watermelon and cucumber salad was crisp and the watermelon was succulently sweet. Their location is unfortunate, but make the trek and give them a chance. You won't regret it. read more

We had a great experience today while eating at That Dam Place for the first time. We were greeted upon walking in, had great customer service and had a delicious chicken sandwich and flavorful burger. And we can't forget the "Felony Fries" which were cooked to perfection. We had a cross country meet in this area last weekend. Needed some lunch to refill our bodies. The creative name of this restaurant is what caught my eye, and all the Yelp reviews, so had to try! The names of the dishes I assume were tailored to being close to Folsom Prison. I had the Cali King chicken burger with a salad on the side & poppy seed dressing. It was delicious with avocado & tomato. My boys had the Pasty-Straumi sandwich. Pastrami was tasty with fries and clam chowder. The decor could be tailored more to the prison not just the few pictures of prisoners by the bathrooms. Service was really good when we arrived. It took awhile after we were close to be done to get more water and the check. Overall, the servers were pleasant. I would recommend giving it a try as the food is worth it read more

After reading reviews I thought I would try this place. I had the lobster roll, New England Claim Chowder Soup and their Wanton Behavior which was my favorite, the breading was fried and very good and the cream cheese inside was really flavorful. The lobster roll bread they use did not compliment the lobster and a bigger distraction was their charring technique, it was way to long on the grill as it tasted more like burnt areas. The lobster although pretty tasty really needs a little more moisture to it and a little more flavor. As for the soup I felt the red potatoes dominated the flavor over the claims and it was somewhat diluted in flavor, it should be thicker and I ordered a soft drink. This meal cost $42 which was pretty pricey. I'm hoping they will tweak their food items ie. change the bread, make their food items more flavorful. I'm all-in-all and really want to see this place thrive as everyone who works here is pleasant and the place is clean. Time will tell. read more

The food was delicious, the servings were plenty, the service was excellent. We had lunch on their patio, which is filled with growing plants, so you feel like you are in a garden. Everyone in our party had something different and everyone though their food was delicious. Of particular note was the sweet potato fries, which were possibly the best I've ever had: flavorful, crispy outside, and melt in your mouth inside all at once. Sooo good. Decided to try a new spot today and chose this place based on the reviews. Usually I'm happy with that decision but this place was disappointing. The indoor dining area isn't well ventilated and pretty smokey from the kitchen. The service was slow - both coming in and waiting for getting the check. I wrote this review while waiting for the check and another couple sat down and left while waiting for service. When the server did show up to give us our menus, they sprayed Windex on the table while we sat there - glad I don't have a chemical sensitivity. The food was okay but the grilled bread for my sandwich had a lot of kitchen smoke imbedded in it. Won't be back. read more

After seeing multiple recommendations on a local chat group my husband and I decided to go and give it a try. We order our meals to go and was originally told it would be a 30 min wait for our food. We waited at least over an hour ( I think 1 hr and 15min) and we had to leave without our food. When we went to this place the first time, we waited on the patio for 45 min to never be served only to leave... never getting a reason why we weren't served or why no one said anything... only to to show up the second time with my fiancé and spend 80 dollars between the 2 of us, two meals and sodas for each, which we wouldn't have cared so much about spending except the food was sub par and tasted/looked like it came from a can. There is a reason why this place is ALWAYS empty. Do not believe the reviews like I did. The owners were friendly but it could not make up for the bad food. My dish had little to no seafood, and CHUNKS of chicken. My dish is SHRIMP and I got 5 teaspoon size shrimps- Im not exaggerating. This place has the audacity to charge $20+ for a nonexistent seafood dish. To top it off, the taste of it was very bland with lots of black pepper. I shouldve just ate at home. The quality of food is really good here. We ordered dirty fries, mussels, lobster roll, lamb burger, crab cakes and clam chowder. My fav was clam chowder and lobster roll. It was loaded with lobster and clams. Very tasty. Overall portions were generous, food was fresh, and everything felt very home made. But on top of that we had excellent service. It has a very small hometown vibes and the waitress was so kind she even offered to watch my baby so I could eat. She was on top of our orders and the owner among other employees greeted us and made us feel so welcome. The decor is eclectic and interesting. Came here for lunch with family. Food presentation was great but taste was mediocre. I was very surprised by the pricing, it's pretty expensive. Service was good but very odd. At the end of our meal we were given "crack" (some type of holiday treat) and our waitress kept on telling us that they are local crack dealers All in good fun but not so much fun when you're talking to recovered addicts. My sister called ahead and asked if they offered take out. She wanted the lobster roll. She was told that menu item was only available for dine in patrons as it was a limited quantity item so we chose to dine in. Their web site paints a picture of a fresh, hip, menu offering a cornucopia of choices with catchy puns on their titles. The actual experience leaves you wishing you'd chosen otherwise. We arrived late Sunday afternoon to a totally empty restaurant. We found this rather amusing haven been told take out was for the dine in customers even though there weren't any in sight. Being their only two patrons was our first red flag that we were in for a bumpy ride. The dining area looks like any other diner you'd find in the 80's with bad art and old glass tabletops. There was a stench that can only be described as a badly cared for retirement home. The menu titles themselves were trying to tell us to run run run! I ordered "The Death Sentence" and ironically my company had "The Last Meal" . While her lobster roll was small it wasn't that bad as $20 lobster rolls go. My Double burger however was dry, overcooked, and lathered in a disgusting beer cheese. The onion rings served with our meals lacked seasoning, Salt isn't just a four letter word people. In the area for the weekend for rafting and Folsom was our overnight stop. Chanced upon this for dinner and it is THE BEST kept secret. The lobster roll was amazing, clam chowder was fresh, not heavy and full of clams. Mussels were nicely done. They were super friendly and even gave my daughter an otter pop and a cupcake. Menu looked great. I had high hopes for the lobster roll, but alas, it fell short. There were a couple big chunks of lobster but then a ground up lobster salad underneath that didn't taste fresh. It seemed like it was prepared well ahead of time. Servers were nice but there was a significant delay between drinks, order, food, and bill. The onion rings were the high point. I originally went to try this place because of the amazing reviews and came in with high expectations. The decor was weird but I figured if the food was great, then who cares. However, someone did leave their cigarettes on the counter. The food is what I would consider, just ok and nothing special. It was good for a one and done type meal. Not a place that I would go back to, but glad I went and tried it! The place was practically empty even though it was noon. But, it was during the week. The food came out quite quick too which was great. The lobster roll was not available so we opted for the hamburger and a hotdog. It was definitely a little overpriced and quite flavorless. In terms of the food, the fries were quite bland and the pretzel did not taste fresh. The sauce on the hotdog was really good, but the bun was over toasted. At this point I would probably have given everything a 3/5. I revisited Yelp after to see if anyone had a similar experience. From looking at the lower star reviews, I was taken aback by the unprofessional manner in which the establishment responded to constructive criticism. Such interactions are crucial for growth and customer satisfaction, and handling them professionally speaks volumes about a business. It was honestly embarrassing for an owner to respond that way. People are going to leave reviews based on their experience, both positive and negative. You can't take that personally, even though it's apparent that the business did. Responding with a positive dialogue, even to "bad" reviews, shows a customer that the business values their input and is committed to excellence. That's what makes not just a good restaurant, but a good business. Anyway, at least the responses are pretty funny. read more

I was hesitant to try it because I've been burned before with cold lobster rolls being slimy and over-mayonnaised but this one was perfect. Fresh, tasty, would order again. We really wanted to like this place, but nothing seemed to work. We started with a solid raspberry seltzer from Red Bus and a sangria that was underwhelming. We ordered a pretzel with beer cheese which is always a favorite. The pretzel had everything seasoning which was off-putting and the cheese was lackluster. I am so impressed with the quality of food served at this restaurant. The lobstah roll was better than any that I have had in New England. The onion rings were tasty and cooked perfectly.
