Service and food are amazing! We ordered buffalo cauliflower, pork belly. with slaw and calamari appetizer. Each one was delicious...pork belly the table fav, then-cauliflower in 3rd the calamari -but still delicious and tender. We were doing the food chair dance...!!! Have wanted to try this place for a while and finally got to it on a rainy, Monday night in October. The ambiance was lovely with the stone fireplaces in the dining room. Festive fall decorations outside really added to the Halloween holiday. Food was very good - really enjoyed my carbonara with chicken and mom enjoyed her stuffed haddock. My French onion soup (my favorite) did not disappoint. We look forward to returning soon. read more

This is the best restaurant in Ogunquit! I really like So Zap and Five-0 but every time I have a choice to make, I select "that place"! It is casual but elegant. They are so nice and welcoming but not pretentious. Kids are welcome so if you are trying to get away from them don't come here till 9ish. Drinks are incredible and so is the staff! Appetizers get the sautéed mussels (you are going to want to bring the sauce home!) and the lobster crostini (it's expensive but worth it!) For the main dish, the baked stuffed haddock is great as is the bone in pork chop. If they have the baked stuffed lobster on special, put the menu down, it is the best thing you will ever eat! Steaks are good but nothing special as is the penne. It's just okay. The patio is great on warm nights and the bar has 12/13 local beers on tap and has some decent tvs to catch the Sox games on. When you decide to dine in coastal Maine, it's a crap shoot. Most of the time, you'll have a fine meal. But it's really only an average meal. You'd never really tell anyone about it. Maybe the scenery was nice, or the fried clam boat was overflowing with food. But usually, it's forgettable. THAT PLACE IN OGUNQUIT is the kind of food that will make someone like me write a review. All of the food menu was well thought-out, and the quality & taste was off the charts. Cocktails were great, too. Broiled Seafood Trio was perfectly cooked, and the scallops, haddock & shrimp were all stand-alone jumbo bites. Clam chowder with bacon beats most seaside places because it had actual flavor of creaminess & smoke. Crab-Stuffed Shrimp with sauce was memorable, and will be ordered again next time. First time visiting Qgunquit, ME and after a nice day at the beach, we stopped at That Place for dinner. Sitting outside was magical and the service was great. Had the scallop appetizer, which was heaven and then the crap stuffed shrimp for dinner. The flavors were incredible and was well worth the experience. I would highly recommend this place. We usually love this restaurant but it was average at best this time. First, you cannot make a reservation for two.....and once seated, we ordered a bottle of wine - which we found out they were out of? The waitress made no substitute suggestion. Ok. We order drinks and ordered salads and dinner. We then hear the waitress at a other table recite specials - our waitress never bothered to tell us about specials. Too bad. We then go to retrieve our car from the valet - who we watch damage another patron's car by backing into a gas grill outside at the neighboring property. He acted like nothing at all happened. Yikes. Excellent service, off the charts food. Wife described the lobster appetizer - something crostini - as one of the best things she's eaten her entire life. While the restaurant menu probably isn't the most ideal for kids, the bar menu has plenty of options they'll like. Only problem is the bar is a little small especially if you have more than 2/3 people in your party. In any case it's definitely worth the stop. read more

My partner lives locally, so when we go to That Place, it's like Cheers--everybody knows his name! Service is always great!! I love sitting at the bar and chatting with the staff. I really need to branch out and try something different on the menu, but it's hard when the baked seafood stuffed haddock is so delicious. The first time I came here, I ordered the haddock and it was the best I had ever tasted. I've been back here twice (last visit was Good Friday) and keep ordering it. Maybe next time.... This place was amazing. The food and the staff were very pleasing. The forced valet service was a little odd, but the tasty food made up for it. The drinks were good too. The homemade bread and butter is to die for. We almost took some home!! For apps, we got the bruschetta and chicken wings - both really flavorful and delicious. The wings came we sauce but we didn't even use the sauce because that's how well the fried chicken was seasoned (I am very picky about my chicken). For main entrees, we got the Baked Stuffed Haddock, Honey Half Chicken, Shrimp Pesto and Green Thai Curry Noodles. Zero complaints about any of it and I recommend them all. The portions are fairly sized and priced I would say. Def recommend! read more

I would have given this a give star review but for one reason. You have to pay between $10-20 to park. They offer valet parking but it fills up within minutes. There is a large lot just across the street that charges. I'm not sure why they don't make a deal with them to valet park in there. We had reservations and were seated immediately in the dining room. The atmosphere was very nice, lots of local artists on display on most of the walls. Our server Veronica greeted us and went over the daily specials. She was an amazing server, so pleasant, upbeat and knowledgeable. We ordered appetizers, bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp cocktail, both were delicious. We were served warm homemade bread with honey butter, so good. I had the bone in pork chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus it was fantastic. My sister had the chicken carbonara which was also wonderful. We did not have any dessert as we were too full but the menu was very extensive. We did have the Rum punch and it certainly packed a punch! We will definitely be coming back, maybe off season when there is room to park. read more

You can definitely tell this is a place where all locals frequent, and understandably so. The food and drinks were delicious! I had the stuffed haddock and my husband had the salmon! The only reason I took off a star was because we did not feel everyone was following mask procedures as best they could. We are in the middle of a pandemic, please keep your mask on. read more

That Place, has prime real estate located in between the center of town and Perkins Cove. They have A GREAT SPOT and the inside (as well as outside patio) are contemporary and clean. I was really hoping to love it here, but after two experiences-- i'm left feeling underwhelmed. The first time (summer 2016), we arrived early for our reservation (the host was incredibly sweet), we went to the bar and got drinks. The bartender was... cold, disinterested, annoyed, rude, etc., etc., I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Our server, however, was fine and the food was decent, but like anything else, that initial impression from the bartender left a bad taste in our mouth. We brought friends here in September and got drinks at the bar, (different bartender) we went to our table where we had an INCREDIBLE server (I feel terrible I can't remember her name), she was awesome. The drinks were good, wine was great, but the food... ugh I ordered the Pad Thai because it was gluten free, I asked our server what she thought, she said it was one of their most popular dishes... and it was because I saw it go to table after table... but WHAT WERE WE ALL THINKING.... it was watery, bland.. I had serious food envy at my table looking at everyone else's dinner. My mom got a steak which was overcooked, but it had taken awhile so we just ran with it, our friends got the stuffed baked lobster special which looked amazing, they being from Arizona were happy to get their Maine Lobster fix, and were happy as clams. Overall, I would go back for the service alone... but the food, I mean I typically have a rule not to order ethnic items at contemporary American cuisine style establishments... but that GF advertising, had me sold. Growing up in the southwest I crave spice and rich flavor, so maybe it was just me...but I have a feeling i'm not alone. Ultimately, I will probably give it a third chance, because I never want to write off a hot spot such as this... afterall all a year made a huge difference in the service, maybe the same will happen for their back of house by next summer. Deserves 5 Stars We went there for dinner and when we arrived no lines and were immediately seated. Our waitress quickly arrived and took our drink menu. They had a pretty nice wine selection and we settled on a bottle of red. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We started off with the french onion soup that was loaded with cheese, onions and flavor a big hit. We tried the salmon and the baked haddock. Both were cooked perfectly and the flavors were perfect. That Place does not disappoint. We stopped in after a beach trip last year and then remembered it this year when we were back in the area for a special occasion. The Delmonico steak was cooked perfectly and the baked stuffed haddock, which is my go to meal wherever I go, is one of the best I have ever had. Cocktails were great and service was excellent. Bacon wrapped scallops are TDF. Honestly one of the best tasting things I've ever eaten in my life. I ordered the baked seafood trio and unfortunately it came out tasting completely like white wine. However, I told our waiter right away and we switched my meal out for the crab stuff shrimp. Chef came out and apologized and the alternate meal came out right away. Very exceptional service. We parked across the street at a pay lot and were able to get a table quickly outside. Service was ok, however we were very surprised that there were no lobster items in the menu. No steamed, or pasta dishes etc. that had lobster. We did enjoy the baked stuffed shrimp and the baked haddock, however there were no chunks of crab or other seafood stuffing we could find. What a fantastic place here in Ogunquit. I am not a big one on ranking places 1, 2 or 3 or proclaim them to be THE BEST in town or nothing else can come closer and euphemisms as such. That Place is definitely a fine dining experience that stands out and shines bright like a diamond (yes, I quote Rihanna!) when the conversation comes about great eats north of and not too far from Boston, MA. And having experienced quite a few of the best of beantown restaurants, I would go to the extent of saying, this place called That Place is simply in a league of it's very own. The ambiance is what catches your attention right away. Very demure and sophisticated, it is perfect for big groups or an intimate, romantic dinner alike. There is a bar right next to the entrance on the right section of the restaurant which seems to get quite popular as the hours go by. You can hear the cheering and all. The other half of the restaurant is much more quieter and as I said, more for couples and intimate group setting. The food was really good. We ordered a bunch of apps before our main courses. Calamari, Nachos, Cocktail Shrimp, and more. Even the house bread and sweet butter - oh yum. You could tell their focus is on quality while maintaining the quantity. For my main course, I got the special of the day which was a Boned in Filet Mignon, lobster meat, corn and garlic mash. Everything was good. The steak was cooked medium rare as I like it and not chewy. The lobster meat was fresh - dipped in not too much butter. The veggies were lightly seasoned. The service was great and our waitress was very nice. We did call ahead to make reservations which was a good thing to do because the place was packed. Overall, I couldn't find anything that I would have hoped could be improved or had been better. That Place is just the place you should be at for a good meal and a great ambiance. read more

Have never felt the need to write a Yelp review before, but I feel like this is necessary. Went to dinner with my husband, 2 children, and sister. At 5:30pm. Have been here before and always had a good experience. My child dropped ~10 cheerios, OUTSIDE on the patio. At 5:30pm. We paid, at the end of the meal were approached by some manager, unsure their role, and was thrusted a broom and dust pan into my hand and told I had to clean up the Cheerios before I could leave. Will NEVER return to this restaurant again. Also, my portions were small. It's hard enough to go out with children, but my kids were well behaved tonight. I left feeling terrible. read more
