Sadly disappointing. There's a lot of room for improvement. The restaurant was dirty with few tables wiped down despite being empty when we got there. Chairs are very beat up and torn. Service is very slow to receive food also despite being the only people dining in. As far as food goes there's a lot of misses. Chicken wings are incredibly small, with a tiny amount of meat and far over cooked to a crunchiness in the meat. The macaroni lacks flavor and tastes of only boiled noodles and cheese. If you're expecting a baked macaroni and cheese cooked with a roux or breadcrumbs this is definitely not it. The burger just alright. Atmosphere overall not so good. Pros: the sauce on the wings is tasty and plentiful. BBQ sauce has a homemade taste (also chunky) Ranch is creamy and tasty. French fries are thick and hot. Abstract - The wings were crispy but a little over cooked. Most of the flavors had decent flavor. Sides were ok and food was served rather quickly. More depth: We ordered 3 flavors Garlic Parmesan, Lemon Pepper, and Mild and a side order of cheese curds and curly fries. Cheese curds were good. Curly fries were nothing special but by no means bad. Garlic Parmesan - What you would expect. Butter, garlic, and cheese. Not bad but could have been better Lemon Pepper - Good flavor. Nice lemon with just a bit a peppery notes. Mild - This was a house rub that does not really have any measure of the classic heat you would look for in wings but more of a warmth. Which I believe comes from clove. Interesting flavor but not sure I would try this flavor again. Once I noticed the clove. It was all I could taste. A little Ranch helped balance it out. read more

We just got a 30 piece Buffalo wings and they were just disappointing. 1) size, most all of the wings were the size of my thumb and the meat was a tablespoon worth at best. 2) taste, mid level flavor way over cooked for the size leading to way to crunchy pieces. 3) sauce, we ordered extra saucy and they was too much vinegar in the sauce causing the sauce to not stick to the wing and making eating experience just poor. read more

I recently tried every place I could find for wings, and this is my favorite wing place in Anchorage. Only one other place comes close to the kind of spice you can get at That Wing Place. I've been eating this recipe of wings since I was a young girl. The size of the wings, the texture, the hot flavor, all of it is nostalgic for me. I prefer blue cheese, my spouse ranch. Do you. Maybe I confused the counter help when I asked "are the salt and vinegar the only dry rub wings you have?" They responded yes. I ordered medium wings for heat and curly fries. Verdict: dry rubbed wings with some carribean-esk seasonings with lots of cinnamon and allspice NOT ONE DROP OF SAUCE OR HOT WING FLAVOR AT ALL! Fries were salty enough for many many orders. That's already extra points in my book. Plus, they're open pretty long so you can get your cravings in late at night. I ordered some wings from that wing place. I live literary five minutes away. An hour goes by and no wings. I call them and they say let me call the driver. 30 more minutes later the owner comes knocking on the door aplogizing for the driver who drove past my house and went to the other side of town to make deliveries. Gave this place a try and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and offered some tasters of the sauce flavors before deciding. The lady at the front counter recommended the strips with the LA Street sauce with crushed Doritos- maybe like a hidden menu thing but worth a try. It was legit! Beer selection was impressive with some choice local brews from Midnight Sun and MatSu breweries. Got the family meal deal, boneless wings were over cooked, gross and busting with oil from within. The bread was upgraded to cheesey garlic bread but clearly the cheese was an after thought as the toasted bread was browned underneath I would assume microwaved cheese, I assume this by the distinct putrid smell. Used to be my favorite wing place. We order from here regularly but lately the service and even the food has been hit or miss. Which makes me really sad because it's hard to find a great consistent place. The food always used to be really good but lately we've been getting over-cooked chicken, tiny baby wings, or just a splash of sauce. I understand times are crazy but we have had these issues since at least January. The service has always been pretty good but seems to be getting worse. Every time we call to order the girl taking the order laughs after I make a request. The website never works to take an order so I'm forced to talk to this employee that has no problem mocking me. She sounds like a young girl but I'm really not impressed by that being the forefront of your business. We keep trying to give That Wing Place more chances to do better because when your chicken is great it really is the best in town! Given it is a wing place, claims were that they make a really good burger. So, being the burger fanatic that I am, I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of seasoned fries and a orange soda. Delivery was prompt, one good thing. The seasoning on the fries were good too and the meat patty was nice but here comes the bad... -Fries were soggy and near cold -The buns were soft and soggy -barely any lettuce -my soda had no ice and tasted diluted Oh! And here's the best part, stuck to one of the fries was a feather(from the chickens I assume?) but seeing that a feather made its way to the fries tells you just how clean the kitchen really is. I've only decided to start writing wing reviews now, but in the past year I've become obsessed with spicy wings. The kind of spicy I adore is the kind that sends generational trauma down my bloodline-- I want to wear safety gloves while my unborn children cry, begging me to stop. Unfortunately, their Grim Reaper doesn't do that for me. It does give me pain, but not enough to pass down the agony to my grandchildren. However, it does taste *great* and wasn't just spicy for the sake of it. I had a coke and seasoned fries to go with it (fries were cooked pretty perfectly, not under or overcooked. I was impressed), and the waitresses were super friendly. My main complaint is that the Grim Reaper sauce is so oily; I feel like using hotter peppers would lessen the need for spicy oil. If I get Dr. Phil about it, it's also a bit of a clusterfuck of a sauce; I think the ratios could be tweaked to make the smoky peppery flavor even more intense. Still, if 5 means that I'm a fan, then it's worth a yelp 5. If you're a non-picky person, you can find good wings here. If you're picky, well theres a spicy lemon pepper flavor for that, just ask my husband. While my quest for painfully spicy wings continues on, the flavors were enough to make me eager to have them again. read more

Mostly dry, not to wet and everyone in the house has enjoyed whatever variety we order. Always arrived hot, as ordered and with generous amounts of celery and bleu cheese (Our preferred). My main issue is calling in orders can be a bit frustrating. They almost always put you on hold and make you wait for an average of 3 minutes. It's happened on several occasions and it can be a bit annoying. On the plus side though the food is really good. It's probably the best wing place in Anchorage in my opinion but the customer service on the phone isn't the best with the hold times and that one woman that can be a smart ass on the phone.
