I have not been to That's Amore' for quite awhile. But with wanting/needing to eat where there was an outdoor patio, we opted for That's Amore' for lunch. I ordered Chicken Parmesan. Wow - what a disappointment! It was the thinnest and smallest piece of Chicken Parmesan I have ever had served! It was thin, the sauce over it was thin, thinner than canned tomato sauce you can buy in the store, and no flavoring to sauce, just blah. I thought there was not any cheese on it because normally you can see cheese on Chicken Parmesan. I scraped the sauce to the side and found there was a VERY thin layer of cheese - looked like maybe one very thin mozzarella slices that you buy prepackaged. I have never been over-delighted at That's Amore and, again, I wasn't yesterday. My friend had a HUGE bowl of Baked Ziti. I asked her how it was since I picked the restaurant and she doesn't get to this area very often. She said it was OK with a shrug of her shoulder. For that reason it got 2* rather than 1*. Lovely patio and the waitress was very pleasant. Food - not so good. Not worth return visit. Don't know how it gets all those awards! read more

Usually good food. But tonight was not good at all. The side we were seated on had 5 tables occupied, 3 servers, so not busy. Almost 5 minutes before server even acknowledged us even though she walked past twice. We placed a drink order and they were GREAT.. Placed our order, 2 Lasagna Dinners. Server brought the Salad and Breadsticks. We were barely done with our first serving of Salad when the Lasagna was brought out, not even 10 minutes after ordering. Not good at all.. There was no flavor, and I mean none. Noodles were way overcooked and it was served luke warm.. The Sauce tasted as if it were just poured out of a can and on the Noodles, no flavor. Noodles were so soft and mushy that no knife was needed to cut pieces off. There was no Cheese in the Lasagna itself, just put on top and partially melted. I usually get the Ribs, but felt like Italian tonight. Won't do that again.. Server only checked on us once during the meal and that was 5 minutes into the meal. Never asked about drink refills. Just came back with the bill and walked away.. May be awhile before we come back.. read more

Just placed an order for Saturday with Joe who was very kind and courteous on the phone. I have dined with them many times in the past and I especially love their drive through pick up as it is fast and efficient. Currently, because of the Covid virus, they are offering only a limited menu which is very well noted on their website. They do not have their online ordering system working at this time. As a health care worker, I appreciated that their website also clearly explained what measures they are going to to make sure that the food preparers are healthy in efforts to continue to provide you with quality and tasty meals. Breadsticks we're okay, salad was decent. Fish tacos were drowning in slaw, overwhelming. Fish below wasn't bad, but tough to find. Veal Marsala was cold, ok flavor. Fairly expensive dish for amount of food. Kids spaghetti was generic. Service was good overall. Host was a bit snooty but my boys were being a rambunctious when we walked in. I remember going here years ago and having a great chicken dish. Tonight's meal was more along the lines of not great. Server took the fish tacos off the bill cuz wife did not eat them, appreciate that. Who gets fish tacos at an Italian place anyway :). Did say something to server about the veal, didn't expect anything to be done about it since I finished the plate. We never really go out for Italian, kids wanted spaghetti. You have to be kidding me! One of the poorest "Italian" meals I have ever been served. Awful. The portions are HUGE and totally uncalled for! They don't know how to cook!!! If you have ever been to Italy, then you'll well understand how unappetizing the food is. We began by ordering the fried eggplant sticks on the recommendation of our server. We have had this dish in a number of restaurants around the country as well as Europe so we are well aware of how they should be prepared. The offering here arrive and they were crispy, but saturated with oil.The portion size was huge - entirely too much served as appetizer for 2 people. My wife ordered the salad, it was fresh, but not seasoned properly at all. The black olives are out of a can-what does that tell you? The salad was served in a huge bowl for 2 people; entirely too much to eat. My wife ordered Sicilian Pork Tenderloin - this dish is basically (or should be) a very lightly breaded serving in properly prepared breadcrumbs: Amore's was awful. My wife couldn't even eat it. And we had specifically instructed our server to place all the "toppings" on the side so she could enjoy the meat. She couldn't eat it, the bread crumbs were all dried spices with no taste of cheese or garlic. It frankly tasted overwhelmingly of dried spices and nothing else, she ate a few bites and left the rest. The server took it off our bill. I ordered the what these guys call: "chicken piccata." I was stunned at what was served me. It was terrible. In a HUGE oval plate, I was presented with THREE HUGE Chicken breasts that had been floured and deep fried and then drenched in some yellow watery liquid which had no taste of anything much less piccata. The pasta accompanying the chicken was also in the same plate along with a HUGE serving of broccoli which had no taste. Our bread was "bread sticks" that were alarming similar to the Colonial Bread we had growing up. Nothing more that white bread lightly toasted with some margarine brushed on top. Didn't even try them since they looked so unappetizing. That's Amore should really advise newbie's here as to the portion size. There would be no way that we could possibly enjoy these sizes and would certainly not want to take any of it home. read more

I've tried Lasagna, Crabby chicken, Chicken Marsala, Fillet Mignon (with & w/o portabella mushroom sauce), Prime Rib (the best ever), & appetizers too numerous to mention. A comfortable atmosphere featuring the "Rat Pack" which has been recently refreshed, leaves you feeling welcome whether in jeans or formal wear. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. The best way to describe That's Amore is Olive Garden...only better! All meals come with salad and bread sticks. The bread sticks were nice and fresh and the salad was pretty yummy! Probably had a lot to do with all of the oil! I had the cheese tortellini with alfredo. It was pretty good....no complaints. Our server was friendly and checked back with us frequently. She even put a candle on my dessert because she over heard it was my birthday. They have a patio that I wouldn't mind sitting on next time I stop in. read more

Mile Grazie !! WOW !! We just ate at your place tonight and the pizza and calzone were both excellent. You have a great retuartant, love the fresh tasting chese and crust was awesome. Parking is a little tough to locate it is in the public spots in the adjoining condo buliding and sign just said Pizaa on Ferderl Highway, but the food was fantastic Calzone and Pizza. Sometimes you just want spaghetti & meatballs. I cannot say, 'I can make this at home.' I won't make it and I know it. But, it is a special occasion that warrants ordering an old favorite. At That's Amore, they make it right. The meatballs are spiced in a way that allows them to stand alone. They do not get lost in the flavor of the marinara sauce. You receive two of them in a large bowl of perfectly al dente spaghetti noodles and a hefty ladle (or three) of the house marinara. You may order more meatballs, but you will not be able to after you eat the two. They are oversized and very filling. I made only a tiny dent in the pasta, because I was all about consuming the planet-sized meatballs. You may pass by the spaghetti, thinking it ordinary or like me--you can make it at home. Sure you can. But, will you? And, will you make anything as good as the ones served up here? read more

We felt horrible for the waitress who had to serve us our meals. The only meal that was good was the all you can eat shrimp. The pastas were disgusting. First time I've been here and I had the Chicken Carolina. AMAZING. I was suprised that they didn't carry Coke or Pepsi products, but carried something called "Black Bear Cola". Apparently it's a local brew - wasn't too bad. Definitely will eat here again. read more

I've been to That's Amore at least a dozen times over the last few years, and find it to be quite hit or miss. I've had excellent meals, and some that missed by a mile. The scary part is that I can't even predict when or why. Needless to say, consistency is a real issue. When the bread sticks are right, they're something to look forward to. Unfortunately, I've received them both hard as a rock, and undercooked and dripping in butter. Entrees have also been an adventure. Most of the time, the Friday fish fry is one of the best in the area. However the last one was barely edible...cold, greasy and just downright yuck. 3 of us stopped by for lunch on a Thursday. The place was packed. We were sat quickly at a high top at the bar. I had the eggplant spinach parm. It was fantastic but there is no way in the world that it was under 300 calories as advertised! I have enjoyed That's Amore for many years. On Sunday afternoon I went for lunch. I sat out on the patio because it was a nice afternoon. The patio is quite lovely with an abundance of flowers and plants. It is also totally shaded. I decided on the Sunday special of AYCE pasta. I should have just ordered the luncheon portion. The AYCE plate was a HUGE serving. After a nice salad and bread I found I was only able to finish half of my plate. Not worth the 4 extra dollars in hindsight. However, the meat sauce was simply delicious. The pasta ( I opted for the mostaccoli) was cooked perfectly. As I was getting ready to pay my bill I realized I had left my wallet at home!!! The staff was so understanding. They allowed me to run home and grab my wallet. I offered to leave my phone as collateral which at first they refused, but I insisted. I returned a little while later to settle my bill and generously tipped my server. I obviously felt terribly embarrassed, but I was treated with nothing but the up most respect. read more

My guy and I were looking for a good italian place to eat at and he decided to bring me here. Everything about this place was fantastic. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful which is very important to me. It was also a quiet setting and very relaxed. We ordered mussels which he didn't think were the best, but I thought they were delicious. Then the pastas came out and it was twice as much food as we were expecting and probably the best mostacholi I've EVER had! They gave me enough food to eat for a week! Went for lunch and the portions were huge, kinda curious how big the dinner portions are. The sauce on the chicken parm was really good and the Alfredo was excellent. I don't know what happened to the quality of the food here. Dinner for 2 on a Saturday night. We were seated in this little private area in the back, it was very warm and we had to deal with pesky flies. Eggplant parmesan under cooked limp pieces. Need more cook time. Dried out bread sticks and that fantastic salad I dreamt about was a nightmare. Used to be mostly leafy fresh greens now it bagged iceberg full of the core. Very little dressing. Veal parmesan (wish I took a photo!) looked like 2 paper thin over cooked hamburger patties. Red sauce and 2 pieces of melted mozzarella looked like a tv dinner. Didn't taste much better. Also pasta with shrimp. Arrived lukewarm. Sent it back they must of reheated it in the microwave because shrimp were now rubber. Told waitress to take the shrimp off. My friend wanted to eat at Balistreri's in Wauwatosa, what a bad choice I made choosing That's Amore. read more

This was a great place to eat great authentic Italian Food. It is owned by a local Italian family. It is very comparable to Olive Garden, but I would probably say that their selections were better and more extensive. I had the Baked Ziti with a glass of Lambrusco, Lo Duca (Italy). What can I say, it was a great pairing. This was my first time trying the Lambrusco, and it was delicious, not too sweet and not too dry, and had a little fizz to it. I could have drank it alone or with a dish. And the salad was delicious. read more

I recently moved to the Hales Corners area and "That's Amore" is on my commute to/from work everyday. Passing by in the evenings, the parking lot ALWAYS looked packed! Needless to say I quickly added it to my list of "Must try" places in the area. I visited on a Friday evening (PS. they do NOT accept reservations on Fridays) and when we checked at the host stand for a table, they said about 20 minutes but also mentioned we could sit immediately if we wanted to eat in the bar area (just a high-top table in the corner separate from the actual bar top). Our server (Melisa) was fan-tastic. We told her we'd never dined with them before and she gave us her recommendations and her favorites. While neither of us actually ended up picking any of the items she mentioned, we were still MORE than pleased with the food. I had the Chicken Barese (grilled chicken with eggplant, spinach and melted cheese on top) and my guy had the Chicken Tortelloni (sp?). Both dishes were delish -- in addition to their amazing bread sticks! Atmosphere is nice for a casual date night (which was what we were going for) and priced pretty reasonable. We ordered a bottle of wine and two entrees for about $60. Highly recommend giving this place a try, I know I'll be back soon! read more

This review is for their fish fry. Their fish fry is as good as it gets in the Milwaukee area. i had the fired cod and it was done perfectly. Just enough batter to complement the high quality cod. My wife had the herb covered baked cod and said the herbs did a wonderful job of adding flavor to the baked cod. You also receive a great tossed salad with their tasty salad dressing. Let me begin with the positive. The al fresco dining courtyard is pretty. The service was good. And they offer gluten free options. But the gluten free pasta was not as good as many I've had though better than a few. Mostly overcooked which made it almost soupy. But worse yet was the "normal" part of my dish. I had the baked zita. The sausage tasted like ground hamburger mixed in a red sauce with a different red sauce poured over the top. The cheese added nothing but more gooey texture that was not good. There was just no body to the meal. It was a gooey mix up. I ate half and pleasantly asked for no box for leftovers. It also was hard to watch our on duty waitress sit at another table with some friends as our group was ready to check out. A small waiting area means that it isn't a good place to go during busy times without a reservation, but once you're there, the atmosphere is cozy and pleasant, the service is good, and the food is good to very good. For the past 5 years my adult children and I dined here together to celebrate my deceased husbands birthday. It was his favorite place to get deep fried egg plant & onion strings,so we always order it in his memory. We also utilized their services for his funeral lunch. We have probably been going there for routine as well as special occasions for as long as they have been open. Last Sunday we arrived for our 5:30 reservation and were pleased with out service. After our meal we were enjoying our conversation and another drink, and to our astonishment, the host (or manager) for the evening at 6:50 PM rudely asked us to leave because they needed our table. I didn't notice people waiting & other tables were empty. I have never had this experience no matter the size of my party or the time taken for a pleasant dinner. We came for the fish fry for my husband and myself and spaghetti and meatballs for my son. The fish was on, a bit over fried. Super thick beer batter. My son loves the meatballs. The marina sauce is a bit on the garlicky side. Ambience is nice! Our waiter never asked us what we wanted to drink! He brought water. He never came back to our table until the end when he offered dessert. We all need a water refill but he's off somewhere else. Very rude when I asked him for a new glass. We thought the food was good. We liked the spidini and my cannoli was really good. The breadsticks were good too. The waitress was courteous, but not impressive. The wine showed up when the appetizer was almost gone, and then she spilled it. She did not offer spoons for the pasta. They do not offer espresso. My experience at That's Amoré was excellenté!! The staff was friendly and the service was quick, the environment was well organized and magnificent, and the presentation of the food was astonishing and the taste of the food was so delicious. The parking lot was decent and there was an old classic automobile with a collector's plate. The breadsticks and salad they provided was similar to Olive Garden but not as great in taste as Olive Garden. I had an all you can eat spaghetti in meat sauce which was very filling and cooking to perfection. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian and a fantastic garden of flowers outside. read more

This place has been going down hill based on service. Food wise, it's good, no complaints. But waiting 7+ minutes to be acknowledged and placing a drink order (and I include the initial "welcome glass" of water) is just bad. Also, we requested lemons 3 times. My wife made a bet we would get the check before we got the lemons. She won...badly, we never got the lemons. We got so tired of being ignored that we requested our entrees to-go and filled up on our appetizer (disappointing mushroom bruschetta) and the salad/breadsticks that came with our lunch. Took my parents here for dinner. Breadsticks are crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. Salad was very good. I ordered the Rigatoni Salsiccia. I was impressed with the amount of food served, as well as the amount of sausage. A very flavorful dish. Service was good. Not a very spacious place, so tables are close to one another.
