Went here for dessert after a hearty Italian dinner on a Friday night. It looked full but we were immediately seated. Interior is visually aesthetically pleasing - even their downstairs bathroom mirror, don't miss out! And of course their milkshake, can't really go wrong with your $10. It was filling, delicious and costs roughly same as two hot fudge sundaes! Service was likewise exceptional. Will surely be back and to try to eat something from their house specialties and of course have dessert again afterwards!
Had a really nice lunch there today with my grandson and ordered him the birthday shake for his birthday. I had the lunch special tomato soup with your choice of sandwich and the sandwich I chose was the ultimate grilled cheese. My grandson ordered the bako burger and fries. Everything was delicious, the tomato soup was out of this world, and I loved dipping my sandwich in it. There was a little bit of a wait today because they were super busy but the servers were great. I love how it looks inside and the seating is super comfortable.
Food, cocktails, coffee, decor and vibes- what more could you ask for? There's something for everyone and located downtown. I haven't had a meal I haven't enjoyed. Great iced latte. Big place for birthday lunches because of their amazing milkshakes. Staff are always friendly. Inside has a few seating areas, it's bright, clean and great decor.
The food is fantastic. If I were rating the food, I'd give them 6 stars! My wife and I had salads. She had Cobb and I had autumn with grilled chicken. Great combinations and amounts of ingredients, enough dressing but not too much (I LIKE my salad dressing too!) and fresh all day. My son had the mushroom burger - again, wonderful toppings, juicy burger, mouthwatering. He also ordered a unicorn shake (pictured) which is the most outrageous milkshake I've ever seen. He also ordered onion rings which I may have helped him with. Haha. Excellent. After waiting 20 minutes prior to being recognized by a host figure, had there been any other nice restaurant downtown open on a late Sunday afternoon, we would have tried it. We ran into a group of friends so their party of six grew to a party of nine. We did say that if it would expedite things, we could be seated as six and three. After waiting for at least a half hour they seated all 9 of us on the patio and as we were about to be seated, they announced their tip policy of 20% for any party over 8. The servers were friendly but ... (1) they brought out water for us. Within five minutes I'd refilled my small water glass twice and consumed the ice. There was no refill on ice offered even tho servers passed my table several times. (2) They asked about separate checks at first. There was an order of onion rings on our bill and a bill at the other table (yes we were at separate tables because they're bolted down outside). They brought out both orders but only ONE small plate of condiments. Really, it's the little things, like more ice in my little water glass. Lol. (3) Food wasn't served simultaneously. For instance, my wife's food came out at least five minutes after mine. (4) Early on a bird pooped on one of our friend's hands (he was at the other table) and our table top was... sticky. I realize we were a large party and there were several large parties inside. I guess it really upsets me that the gratuity was included so what I thought of the service didn't matter. I wouldn't be so harsh if it didn't seem like there were plenty of servers. And they were friendly, and sweet, just not attentive.
The 18hundred was a nice spot for brunch as they are located in a nice area of town and they had the Mexico vs South Africa game playing. The food was great and their cheesesteak was pretty good. I've never had a cheesesteak before but after eating it I can't get enough of it. Their service was also great and very attentive. Overall it's a nice spot for brunch or for dinner with friends or coworkers.
Street parking was easy to find during the week but I'm not sure if there is a specific parking lot for this restaurant. The service was great, the waitress was nice and friendly. She recommended some items on the menu. We tried the zucchini fries and they were just okay. I probably would not order them again definitely lacking in flavor. I felt the same about both sandwiches that were ordered. Definitely needed more Philly steak in the sandwich and the California chicken overall lacked in flavor. I didn't much care for the chopped up celery in both sandwiches either, kind of threw the flavor off to me as well. I really wanted to try the pasta here but it was lunch and you can only order the pasta at dinner. It is really cute inside and they have lovely decor. I loved all the photo op opportunities but the food just did not do it for me unfortunately.
Went for an early Mothers Day lunch with my daughter, neice and her daughter. When we arrived half of the restaurant was empty but the servers/hosts were so confused as to where people would be sitting. One server(a man, didnt catch his name)actually got my party number, didnt enter it in the iPad, said im sorry everyone came in at once I dont know, he took a family outside and ignored everyone waiting to check in. Another server finally came over, apologized and sat everyone. Our server Samantha B. Was great but it seemed she was having to do more than her share as she was busy trying to keep things running smoothly. Go Samatha! The restaurant became busy as we were there but It was mostly families and the atmosphere was really family friendly. I was happy to see that there is a gluten friendly option for my daughter. A gluten free kids meal! The girls loved the milkshakes and didnt leave a single drop! She loved it, and I loved the price! I ordered the sandwich and soup lunch special. Turkey club and tomato soup hit the spot! This is a great place to have an affordable meal, when you have dietary restrictions or just want to have a delicious meal.
My husband, one of our children, and I went out last night to give this place a try. I have been wanting to try this place for at least 2 years, so we finally went! It is clean and inviting. The girl sat us right away, spoke with us about delicious options, and brought us the happy hour menu. We were waited on fairly quickly. We ordered a small starter plate, my husband tried their Philly cheesesteak, I tried the mushroom & Swiss burger, and our kiddo tried the hand-breaded chicken strips. Our food came out pretty quickly and was delicious. We had a good time and really enjoyed our food. Also, very reasonably priced. We would definitely go back and try new things.

Had to update my review for my recent visit. My husband had told me that the original owners of The 18hundred had sold their restaurant and I had to give it another shot. My son treated us out for lunch and they decided they'd give this place a chance since all my boys never tried it yet. It was super busy when we got here and I was happy that the wait time was only 30min for a table. I don't even think we waited 30min for our table, but I just thought this would definitely change my experience for sure. Once we were seated a gentleman served our table. He was really nice and the only thing lacking was refills. They were super busy so that's not gonna mess up my experience here. I watched him and he was taking orders for majority of the tables on the floor so he was all over the place. None of the guests wore masks and half of the staff wore masks and the other half didn't have any masks on. I'm not one to judge who wears them or who doesn't, but I've noticed all other restaurants usually have their staff wear them. We ordered onion rings and the cauliflower as side options, but they served them before our meal came out like appetizers. The onion ring was super hard. It was not bad, but I'm used to onion rings having a crispy exterior and soft interior and these onion rings were super duper crispy. They had good taste so they weren't bad. The cauliflower was really good and I would definitely order those again. My sons both got one of their hamburgers. As I watched my boys eat these hamburgers, they looked pretty ordinary and I noticed the meats were super cooked. I don't remember the server asking how they like their burgers cooked, so I expected it to be pink a little. Both my boys said it was just okay and they wouldn't get it again. I ordered the shrimp po boy which was very disappointing. The shrimp was really hard and overcooked. It was overcooked to the point that it was hard to chew. I'm not sure if they use fresh shrimp or frozen battered shrimp, but I would not get that again. My husband tried to order the eggplant parm then he tried to order the shishitoas & burrata and both were unavailable, so he settled for the mahi tacos which he was not happy with. They use 1 tortilla and the filling doesn't hold up since it has a lot of liquid from the slaw and the salsa. One thing that was super confusing was that their dinner menu. It does not say "dinner menu" so when my husband tried to order the eggplant parmesan the server told him it was a dinner option. Our overall experience w the food was not what we expected. Everything here was okay. I had a hard time eating my shrimp po boy sandwich and I kept thinking to myself that I could probably get better shrimp at a Frosty Freeze or Long John Silver and I don't even go to these places unless my boys are craving it. I think you should still check it out for your own experience. I really want this place to be really good, but I don't know if I would come back. read more

Had a friend visiting from out of town who wanted to try the 18hundred. My wife has been a few times but it was a new experience for me. Staff is incredibly friendly. I got the 18hundred burger and my wife and friend got the chicken sandwich. Food came out incredibly quick. The burgers and sandwiches come with a nice little salad. The burger was standard. The chicken sandwiches were good as well but the bun did not hold up well and both of them started to fall apart. We also had a side of zucchini fries, french fries and lemon cauliflower. All killer choice. Ne careful the cauliflower is very lemon-y. I ended up sharing a milkshake with my wife. If you have read my reviews you know I am not too much into sweets but this was amazing. My husband surprised me with lunch here. I have seen and heard so many good things so I was excited to try it. Walking in you see how much time and thought went into this restaurant. I was surprised at how small and crowded it was, but we were there at peak lunch time. If it wasn't so hot outside I would like to have sat out there to get away from the craziness inside. It was hard for me to see everything because of the crowds. But the lighting and art work was very nicely done. I was a bit bummed that you order at the front and then find a table. My husband stood watch, waiting for something to open. So my suggestion is, if you are with somebody have them get a table and you order. I ordered Pastrami Melt and my son a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Both came with a small side salad. ( they will give you blue cheese crumbles with your salad if you ask) My husband got a Bbq chicken salad. All were in the 11-12$ price range. The food was good and came out pretty quick for as busy as they were. The bathrooms are downstairs and they are big and they were clean. I was talking to someone the other day and they mentioned you don't have to order at the front for evening service. You have a waitress and can make reservations. I would probably be happier with that. My pet peeve is paper straws and these were the worst I have used . They were dissolving in my drink, they were basically useless. 10/10 would recommend this place!!! Our server was great! Very attentive despite it being a busy Sunday. The ambiance right off the bat is great! The whole restaurant is very aesthetically appealing and the food did not disappoint! I enjoyed a good brunch and it was kid friendly! Prices are very good! And the food is delicious! Loved the food and drink though is another story. Go for the food not the alcohol! I had the Bako burger which was amazing. The burgers come with a little balsamic side salad, which isnt bad. The burger had 2 thin burger patties. The bun was nice and soft. And the bacon. Mmm... My coworker suggested the zucchini fries. Those were amazing as well. The batter was nice and crispy. Since its zucchini, its healthy, right? Now the drink. Before coming to the restaurant, i saw a drink on instagram from the yelp bakersfield page. I was super excited. Its was bright colored and fun. I loved the pineapple cup. So i decided to order it. Waiter brought it over and it was the biggest disappointment. So we've been having some gloomy weather and i swear that's what he gave me. Showed him then picture from instagram and waiter basically didn't care. So i deducted a star from my review for the waiter and his stormy not-so tropical happy drink. Food is bomb tho. WOW, just what Bakersfield was needing! The 18hundred was an all around great experience from the ambiance, customer service, food, beverages, and location. I had the summer salad which was filled with lots of goodies, but a little too much greens. I had the hefeweizen beer on draft which came from LA, and loved this! Its a full bar with inside and outside seating, be prepared to sit close to people and don't be afraid to conversate with the people next to you about what their eating because everything looks so so so good! Give this place a try if you live in Bakersfield or if you're coming from out of town, I have a good feeling downtown Bakersfield is going to come back to life within the next two-three years with the start of the new 18hundred restaurant. What a gem of a place! We made reservations to go here 3/27 and when we arrived it was super busy but our little table was waiting for us with our name and guest number! We ordered drinks that came in beautiful crystal glasses and were made perfectly. The pomelo has a champagne float and was bright and refreshing. I ordered the whiskey sour and it came with the perfect egg white foam and a sprig of rosemary for decoration. For an app we ordered the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower and we were all fighting over the vegetables! For dinner we I ordered the mahi mahi with wild rice and broccoli. It was delicious. My fish was cooked perfectly and the wild rice mixed the the lemon cream sauce was to die for. My husband got the rib eye which was yummy but I was focused on my dish. My friend ordered a turkey burger and she said it rivaled eureka burgers turkey burger which is sayin something. Overall the place was beautiful. I loved all the decorations and the atmosphere in general. I give this four stars because it's overly congested and we were getting bumped by servers and patrons. I recommend you reserve a table next to the window as to avoid so much traffic which made it uncomfortable. We were seated outside because it was busy which was fine with us because it was nice outside. However we felt very rushed. Our food came out maybe 5 minutes after we ordered BEFORE we even received our drinks. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy- he said the gravy was flavorful but the biscuit was basically a think piece of nan bread. I ordered the pancakes and they were good but nothing I'd HAVE to have again. The server was nice and friendly but I didn't like how rushed we felt. We may give it another try but it probably won't be on our list anytime soon. read more

Clean cute trendy restaurant. Food was nicely present very fast service. I just don't care for having to order your food and then you have to find your own table... it's usually pretty full I prefer to be seated by staff when I go to a sit down meal. We sat outside it's nice accept for the downtowners walking by and looking at everything your eating makes it a little uncomfortable. Will be back for a fancy drink and milkshake read more

Wow. Do not pass this place up! Service: excellent Food: INCREDIBLE Atmosphere: great!! This was such a wonderful find. Delicious Philly cheesesteak! Although I wasn't a fan of the onion rings. The Unicorn Shake was def picture worthy! Decently priced too! Only $10. Came in on a Friday night and got seated right away. Our drinks and appetizers came quickly, soon followed our dinners. Our server was attentive. All our food was excellent. The food and the staff are 10/10!! Love going to this restaurant. I usually go once or twice a month and take my family there for lunch or dinner. The vibe there is very nice and just a chill place to be. I recommend the Philly cheese steak sandwich with the og cheese it's super good!
