Came to All Star on a Tuesday afternoon for some family bowling fun. The place is relatively new , has 22 lanes an arcade, a bar with lots of great beers on tap (including Mermaid Pilsner a personal favorite) and finally it's attached to Smittys All American Grill , a full restaurant. This was all well thought out. It's about 36 bucks for an hour of bowling. The tech is updated here - for example you can set it automatically for bumpers to come up and down depending on who is playing and setting up names and scoring is easy. I also loved that the bowling shoes are velcro and super comfortable. For those who bowl regularly ( I do not) all these innovations may be table stakes. I remember bowling parties with large stuffed bumpers in the lanes. I didn't try the food here but it looked good. I don't understand the poor reviews...this place is at worse a 3.5. What a great way to spend a rainy day! My girls (ages 2 and 4) and I arrived at 11am and didn't leave until 3pm: time really does fly when you are having fun! We started our day in the arcade. There was a nice range of games for kids big and little. My girls enjoyed ski ball, air hockey, and shooting hoops. They couldn't wait to choose their special prizes at the end for all their points - huge smiles here! We then made our way to our bowling lane. The staff saw that I was alone with my girls, and was really helpful in getting us situated with bumpers, light weight balls, a ramp, and of course - the shoes. My girls had a blast taking turns and the National Geographic footage they were showing on the huge screens behind each lane made waiting their turn blissfully painless. We ordered our lunch right to to our lane - which was tastefully appointed with a coffee table and couches (not your typical hard plastic bowling chairs). The girls had hot dogs and brick oven pizza, I had a grilled ahi tuna sandwich. I would certainly just come here for lunch or dinner -- the food was that good. While we ate our lane, there is a separate bar/dining area which I can only imagine being a really fun spot for a night out sans kiddos! We'll definitely go back for rainy days, date nights, and hopefully a party! Such fun! read more

Unimpressed. Went for a birthday party last night. There were so many rules for purchasing games, it got confusing. They also did not inform us that there would be no refund for games not played instead we were given free game cards that I will definitely not ever be using. The young ladies behind the counter were very nice but all seemed hamstrung by a very corporate and stingy process. Was not impressed with the food. The whole process was expensive too. Horrendous, disorganized management. Went here to watch a fight - had called twice during the day to confirm it was playing. Was never told we needed a reservation. Showed up to be told "they were at capacity," and we needed a reservation, even though there were clearly open tables and tons of space. Food was definitely good but the service was deplorable, one of the worst restaurants ever and that includes being comped for everything. Tresinsa was a fabulous waitress but the business of the place was gross. Apparently, my party - including young children - happened upon this establishment when "the chef decided to quit". Our waitress, Tresinsa and the Assistant manager, Andre, were fantastic. Everything else was disrespectful, as if our patronage was diminutive, and the service was deplorable. Honestly, I felt as if I was being treated like a hieney. The staff is horrible, we went here on a Sunday night at 9:20pm. We paid for an hour and for the rentals which came out to $72. When we got our lane, we were waiting for someone to come over and ask us if we wanted food, no one showed up. So my friend goes up to the girls at the desk and they tell her that someone will show up. They never did, when we asked, after 30 mins of waiting, they told us the kitchen was closed. The employees there are very young and clearly don't know what customer service is. We had fun bowling, until our game was interrupted in the middle of it, because our hour was up. read more

Went here yesterday with my 2 kids, my 2 friends and their 2 kids. 7 of us in total. You pay per hour for the lanes which I found ridiculous. Bowling has always been price PER GAME. Regardless, 78 dollars for the 7 of us on one lane for one hour. We were having a great time bowling with the kids and were enjoying our food. We ordered a pizza, calamari, wings, a quesadilla, pitcher of beer and one of soda, an additional 70 dollars. The food was decent. At this point I wasn't upset about the money spent. Its when our game shut off while we were on the last frame that ticked me off. I understand that its based on an hourly rate but shouldn't there be some common sense with the staff that if a customer just spent 150 dollars at your establishment in just ONE HOUR, maybe comp them the last frame. NOPE! The staff was very rude and basically brushed us off. We left without finishing our game. That is the last time I will go there. I gave it one star for the food and one star for the potential...it would be worth it if they changed it back to a per game basis. read more

Last Thursday me and my wife went to the All Star ,now called Smittys Bar and grill.We been there before and was never really ever impressed,but I ran into friend who told me that it was under new management and thats where she was hanging out now.So we decided to see for our selves if it had changed much,and would be a good place to go for drinks and sometimes get a bite to eat.So I checked them out on their facebook page to see if they had any drink specials at the bar.On their page they said they had specials for the Rangers playoff game $3 craft beers and $5 mixed drinks.I commented on their facebook page when the specials started since we were planing on going some place after she got off from work which was a few hours before the game,and we didn't plan on staying for that long.I got an almost immediate reply that drink specials started at 5 and the chicken wing special started at the drop of the puck.All well and good because in the past their drink specials have been confusing and we have been burned before by not getting it straight up front,even thought it is supposed to be new management ,we just wanted to be cautious.We arrive to a very pleasant bartender and we ordered up some craft beers.We have a beer then we think that we are getting a good deal so order up some burgers.They arrive brought to us by the cook/chef?Looking quite proud of the meals he brought us.Well I ordered a medium well burger,my wife a medium rare burger,with different cheeses mine cheddar ,hers goat cheese.Well my wife's is cooked more then mine and mine was plenty well done for me.I liked mine ,nothing special but ok it is a bowling alley after all even though they make note of having a Chef running things now,with a little story of his career on the menu.But since everything else is going good my wife decided not to complain even though she said she didn't like it at all.The burger seemed that they were frozen patties kind of like Tops or something like that,but hey it's a bowling alley restaurant 1/4 pound classic burgers,(there are other sizes and types of burgers)$8 each with a $2 up charge for each for cheese which we expected an up charge.Well on to the drinks ,there were only 2 craft beers that were $3 and the others were $7 .We were not told this when we arrived not even a mention of any special.I thought I covered everything because I have been burned here before,so we were charged $7 a pop.Between us we had 6.So this becomes a $24 dollars we we were not expecting to pay.In come Mister manager he argues that there are only two on special.I show him the facebook posts where I was told that craft beers were $3,I thought they all were,and if I was told up front by the bartender ,We would have picked from the two selections. He goes on to ask me as if I were an idiot ,where I could get $3 craft beers.First of all two of the craft beers here were $3 that night,but I answer Applebees. In a pompous attitude what craft beers do they have? As if that somehow this place is somehow better then Applebees (the burgers were not any better actually way worse).I replied Sam Adams and Bluepoint ,and a seasonal that changes ,and during happy hour they are twofers at $6.His response that they were not craft beers with his arrogant attitude flaring up again.Well they charge $7 for a Bluepoint ,so I guess they just overcharge for it since it is not a craft,I bet they charge $7 for a Sam too ,but we didn't order one of those.So in the end he took off 3 of the beers off the bill.So at this point we are only down $3 but its the point.He just had to charge us something more so he could win in his mind.Also he would not budge on that just because.So for $3 less we would have left there happy and just take the extra step and confirm the specials with the bartender next time.Now we are angry at this jokers attitude and will not return to this place ever.To boot they get this rotten review all over $3.So hope he revels in his victory. read more

We decided to try and order a specialty cocktail from the drink list, so we asked for a suggestion. I went to this venue two weeks ago for a fundraiser and had such a great time. All the lanes were setup so we could get started playing. There was music playing in the background. We ordered some drinks and appetizers. I would definitely recommend to all. The All Star is such a great place for people of all ages. Also, they are very involved in different fundraisers. The most entertaining place in riverhead. As far as bowling alleys go, this one is very well kept, high tech and just far superior to the lanes I went to as a kid at birthday parties. The food is great. Full service to the lanes so it's like you're at a table in a restaurant, but while waiting for food you get to bowl. And as it's tradition in bowling alleys, great bar too. Let's be ramp, who wants to be sober while they bowl an 80? At least have the excuse. 10/10 place. read more

I came here with a few friends last Friday night and we loved it! I was pleasantly surprised that there was a full menu on the lanes I was only expecting standard bowling food. Our servers name was Chris and he was wonderful and made us feel very welcomed. The screens on the lanes were awesome and the sports kept the guys busy so me and my girls actually won a few games. One thing I wasn't to pleased with was that there was no special for bowling and being there on a Friday night I would expect more. good lanes and game room but that's about it. Tables shouldn't be in lane seating area. makes floor sticky and gross causing shoes to stick which then makes approaches not slide. Also you can barely walk by someone who is sitting to go up to bowl. Benches should be less in depth and tables should be removed. Price on a Monday day time was $5 a game and $5 for shoes. Not badly priced. A pint of PBR/Bud for $7 is ridiculous, try $4/5 and maybe that will work. $18 unlimited Thursday was fun. The $20 bud light pitchers hurt but otherwise had a great night. Key idea is that the Demographic in the area is NOT wealthy. Give Better prices for Beverages/ food if customers are in fact bowling. That may help. Making over $400 on a keg of beer is going to hurt your customer frequency. All Star has amazing potential considering what else is around, just hope they can work through the kinks. If your main objective is for bowling, forget it! Lanes look great but not a drop of oil, must be some kind of synthetic material that continues through the entire lane, all the way to the pins. You will frustrate yourself expecting your custom ball to hook....... All it does is continue in a straight line. So save your money and your time. Also beware of the prices to bowl. No, it's not on the huge screens above the counter, it's in fine print on an 8"x11" picture frame placed on the counter. I couldn't possibly see it due to customers standing at the counter, I don't even know if it was there when I first walked in. I Didn't ask because I thought how much can it be? Try double the price you expect. I contacted the establishment with no reply, wanted to give them a chance to explain. Safe to say they don't care, so that's my experience. read more

This place is a great place for children. As a really good bowler, I find that this place is not ideal for people who take bowling seriously. Only because they do not have a good pattern on how they oil there lanes, and overall the place is very expensive. It's around $35 to bowl for 1 hour and about 5 bucks to rent shoes. Prices may change over time. However, the food here is excellent because they get there food from the grill next door and just bring it to you're table while you're bowling. If you're looking to do a birthday party for you're children, this is a great place to do so because there's pizza, drinks, and an arcade. It's also a very fun place to hangout at night when they turn off all the lights and turn on the dark colorful lights with music. My overall rating is that this is a great place for kids and to hang out and have fun. Not the best place for professional bowling tho. I'm not an old man btw I'm a teen. Came with a large group on a Saturday night. We had to wait about 40minutes for 2 lanes but the arcade kept the kids entertained. It's all new equipment which is nice, even the bumpers would go up specifically when it was the little ones turns. Our smallest in the group wished they had 5pound balls like our other lanes have but the lightest is 6. Our server was attentive and it was the typical bar food but not bad. Nachos were sloppy but the quesadilla was quite good. Only complaints were the booths for the lanes are too small, we had 7 people per lane and maybe 4 people can sit on each booth, the rest have to stand. Also the table in the middle is far too large also making it hard to move around when switching players. Lastly the large TV screens at the end of the lanes were somewhat confusing, they had sports on some but then just left running ABC on the others which had bad like crime shows on...bizarre to the pop music playing. read more

Went here for my birthday on a Saturday. Not too many lanes so im glad we reserved one ahead of time. Reserved a lane for $160 (paid in advance via cc) covers 2 hours for 8 people. We had a blast! The service however is non existent. No one came to our "table" for drinks. We went to the bar and was told someone would come by.. 30 min later we went back to the bar and ordered our own drinks. The bartender had no urgency so we ordered in bulk. Lol We ordered buckets of beer with shots ... Went up for another bucket and then were asked to bring our shot glasses back up to refill bc they "ran out". Still wondering where the server for our table was. The staff was super young so im sure that had much to do with the service. The music was good though! And they have an arcade room. Its def a more modern looking bowling alley, not that ive been bowling in the last 10 years but.. It was fun despite the lack of service. So overall a good time but that had a lot to do with the company i kept :) I would give it another read more

Celebrated my son's 5th birthday party at the All-Star and had a blast. It couldn't have gone better. The All-Star set us up in their back room which was perfect for a group of 3-6 year olds. The server was friendly and helpful, the food they provided was tasty and the birthday cake was delish (despite my sons upset at the fact the decorations were flowers) . We had a wonderful time can can't wait to return!! read more

I am very dissatisfied with my visit to The All Star bowling alley. Unfortunately the staff had great potential but it is obvious they do not have solid direction. Nobody seemed to be in sync. What angered me most was the manager at the time, I believe his name was Sam, had very little patience, and you can tell that towards the end of the night it was more about when he and his staff can leave rather than the satisfaction of the customers present. I even over heard him telling kids to hurry up and finish their games. Usually I would not take my time out to post something like this, but I was very annoyed by this due to the high prices at this establishment. You should get what you pay for, and yes the decor and set up speaks for itself, but the saying should apply to staff as well. For my first time there I was very impressed with the setup of the bowling alley. It also has a sports bar, arcade and a bar in the center of the alley when you walk through the front doors. A security guard greets you at the door to (I'll assume) keep the trouble makers out of the place before they even walk through the doors. All was well and everyone had a great time. But earlier in the night we had to have a staff member clear out a game due to a glitch in the computer. We were told everything was ok and we can continue to bowl as we were doing. Well that bill came and it wasn't correct and this is why it went from 4 or 5 stars to sadly 1 on here. It really should be a negative inifity for how horrible of an experience that had happened. We were overcharged and when we tried to explain to the staff member behind the counter about the issue it never came up and it was a "glitch." We asked to speak to the "GM" and have the problem resolved so we can all go home and go about our night. He then told us with an extremely nasty attitude "the computer never lies" and that we had to pay for what WE NEVER BOWLED. He claimed everything in the computer was correct and that was it. After that escalated to speaking with the higher ups and we still couldn't settle the bill, we went as far up as asking to speak to the owner of the alley who was there. Only asked about 6 times, yes 6. And we got the stupid excuses that he's watching the computer. That wasn't an acceptable answer in my opinion and we said the police would get involved. He said go ahead and call them with that nasty attitude of his. Then magically here comes the owner now that the police showed up to their front door. Horrible business management in my eyes that we had to call the police and take them off the streets patrolling to take care of a bill that could've been taken care of with speaking to the so called "GM." The "owner" said he'd "eat the money we owe" and we can all go on with our nights. He didn't eat jack sh*t. It was money we didn't spend in this horrible place. Do yourselves a favor, save your money and your time. Go elsewhere. Even if you have to travel a longer distance. It'll be less stress and aggrevation. read more

Stay away from this place!!! Went there with my husband and 2 kids for a fun family day. After being told there was an hour wait for a lane to open we decided to sit in the rest for a pizza. While sitting I noticed there was a pizza by the pizza oven and I thought it was a display pizza. We waited about 20 minutes after ordering when the manager came over and asked is we were still waiting for our food - I responded yes. Another 10 min go by and I see the pizza maker take the same pizza that was sitting there (who knows for how long) throw our toppings on it and stick it in the oven. I was fuming at this point - a half hour waiting for our pizza and you give me one that has been sitting out! When it came I refused it - we paid for our drinks and left. The lady next to me complained and the manager had the nerve to tell her she was only waiting for 45 min - they really need to get rid of this guy! Will never return here again! read more
