    - Friendly, attentive service--our waitress was fantastic; checked in regularly, made sure we had everything we needed, and did it all with a warm smile - Food was excellent--everything was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked - Very generous portions--kids' chicken parm with penne could easily pass as an adult entree; came with a kids' beverage and a huge serving of ice cream - Strawberry cheesecake was light, creamy, and fight-for-the-last-bite good - Expect a crowd--short wait to be seated on Sunday for lunch; parking lot was packed--spots are pretty tight - Comfortable booths line the walls--standard tables in the center - AC kicks on strong and it got a bit chilly at times--bring a hoodie!

We stopped in for a late breakfast. We each got a cheddar cheese omelette, home fries and rye toast. Everything was delicious! The diner was very busy and our omelettes came out pretty fast. The manager and the server were very friendly.

THE GOOD ---------------- + EXCELLLLENT FOOD!!!!! ++++ Rib-Eye Steak & Eggs with Home Fries and Toast was delicious. Steak was perfectly cooked at medium and tender. ++++ Mango Salad with Fresh Grilled Salmon was fantastic. My wife loved the entire salad, ingredients, salmon and dressing. ++++ Kids Chicken Parmigiana was huggggeeeee! Easily could have fed 2-3 kids and it was no lame, striped down Chicken Parmigiana like for most kids meals. It was a legit Chicken Parm that was definitely good enough to be an adult entree. ++++ Kids meals came with a scoop of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream. Our kids' ice cream scoops were HUGE and came with whipped cream. ++++ Strawberry Cheesecake was soooo good and refreshing. The slice was massive and plated very nicely with a swirl and POSSIBLY one of the best slices of cheesecake I ever had. + Menu is typical of most diners - long list of a variety of foods (at a very reasonable price). + Restaurant was expectedly buzzing on an early football Sunday afternoon as we waited for about 5-8 minutes for a table. + Diner isn't huge, but still has ample seating inside. + Restaurant is pretty contemporary inside and relatively modern. + Waitress was very friendly and attentive with small things that we requested (e.g. extra plate). + Food arrived very fast after we ordered. + Parking lot has PLENNNNTY of parking spaces. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nothing! Our experience was perfect here. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Loved the atmosphere inside as there were groups of all sizes and customers of all ages dining here.

This Diner is a must in your rotation. We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Average crowded but nothing crazy. They have a full parking lot and an adequate sitting area while you wait. Our waitress was excellent. Very attentive and personable. I got The Mustang omelet which consisted of chicken, avocado, tomatoes and cheddar cheese. Not only was it very tasty, the portion was huge and the price wasn't ridiculous. Omelet came with a side of home fries and toast as well. As usual, I also got a side of corned beef hash, which is always a must for me. The Corned Beef hash was average but the Omelet stole the show. Looking forward to going back to try some of their other items!

Taken several bites before taking the pic. It was too delicious!

Great experience!!! Lovely staff, and delicious food!!! I was skeptical about the steak and eggs since I have been let down by other diners as of recent but these folks WOWed me. Delicious steak that did not need anything, and the eggs were delicious!!! Lovely paired with toast. Nice open dining area. Highly recommend!

10/8/24: Definitely recommend The Allwood DIner. It's one of NJ's better diners. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. When you enter the restaurant, there's a enclosed case filled with good looking desserts. Customer service is good here. We ordered wraps- one Caesar and one Bacon and Cheddar Chicken. When I received the Bacon and Cheddar Chicken, the bacon was nice and crispy- just how I requested it. The Waffle fries were very warm and perfectly seasoned. The wraps are very filling. I took half of mine home for dinner. The Allwood Diner does have takeout and delivery. The diner has a pretty decent parking area. However, it still could be much bigger.

Came here on Easter Sunday for a quick breakfast before the movies and was very happy with my choice. There's a parking lot attached to the facility, so that's always a plus. Was greeted by a human Easter Bunny at the doorway which I thought was very thoughtful. I was seated at the counter as I was dining solo. I ordered cappuccino, French toast with eggs and bacon. My food came out almost immediately, which was impressive for a very busy Easter Sunday. The place was packed with families. My food was good, my cappuccino was okay. Service was fast and friendly.

Jack of all trades, master of none. Allwood Diner remains one of the better diner options in the area, especially since the renovation (a while ago). So many options ranging from soup, all-day breakfast, pasta, salmon or roast beef dinner, sandwiches and burgers, to name a few. Nothing really blows me away as the best dish I've ever had but great dining option for an indecisive group. We were fortunate enough to be accommodated with our large group of 8 during a weeknight dinner service. The place was busy with families enjoying their dinners and desserts. The waitstaff was patient and helpful as we organized our large and diverse group order. Everything came out hot and at the same time, with no order missed. I ordered the caesar wrap with a side of disco fries. The wrap comes grilled and so the salad was a warm and weird wilted texture, which I did not particularly enjoy. Would recommend ordering something else. Disco fries were a hit and my go-to diner order.

    Buffalo Spicy Chicken Wrap
    Michael R.

Tried this place for the first time and each got a wrap and a coffee and were stuffed! The portions were generous and flavors were awesome. Both the buffalo chicken wrap and the cheddar bacon chicken wrap were great. The waffle fries were like textbook examples of what fries should be! crispy and soft inside with awesome spiced flavor. Would recommend!!

Usually pretty good. Not much else in the immediate area. Your average diner. Salads are pretty good. Had a terrible lemon chicken soup. Everything else had been just ok.

    Penne ala Vodka with Chicken
    Yanedt R.

We went to the diner because we couldn't decide what to eat. The food was quite decent. We ordered the penne vodka with chicken parmesan and a turkey wrap. The pasta was good, while the wrap could have used some sauce, but it was still fresh and tasty.

It wasn't until the 17th century that this meal became a more common practice, especially among the wealthy, who would have rich dishes like scrambled eggs alongside coffee and tea in the morning. The Garden State is still known as the diner capital of the world. Located off Essex Street in Hackensack, this establishment is one of the handful of 24-hour diners. With its unique harlequin decor, Chit Chat remains a chic, upscale diner that we frequent often with friends and family. Upon arrival this morning, my partner, his family, and I were greeted by the staff at the host station, and we were able to get a table quickly. The menu was extensive, and we took our time looking but did not feel rushed. Their menu includes a lot of things one may not find on a regular menu. We decided on their brunch menu and ordered Raspberry & Brie Stuffed French Toast, Santorini Benedict, Bro-Nana Cocoa-Nuts Multigrain Pancakes, and Chorizo Hash & Eggs with a choice of a complimentary mimosa, bloody Mary, or Bellini. The food is always fresh and tastes delicious. The portion is healthy and the prices reasonable. The service is consistently fast and friendly. Our server was Ashley. Today, breakfast isn't just about nutrition; it's a cultural ritual.

They also have beautiful garden seating. I ordered Turkish coffee, fresh grapefruit juice, Gurmanski dorucak, mini burek with spinach and cheese, and fruit cake. I love Turkish coffee and this was very good. The juice was tart and delicious. The breakfast platter was a showstopper. Two fried eggs, tomato, feta, two meat patties, and homemade bread. The flavors of the meat blew my mind. Who knew that Croatians make the most delicious burgers. This is a hearty and fantastic dish. Also, the burek was flaky and light and not very mini. I took home the cake and enjoyed it later. Light, delicate and not overly sweet, this was a star. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you should stop in for any meal. Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.
