Absolutely amazing. Had an issue with my EVH 5153 50 watt 6L6 on channel three, also always wanted to to the stealth mod on channel 2. Brought to Keith, he told me his backlog was 4~5 weeks, it was ok for me. After 5 weeks my amp is back and it is exactly what I wanted. Stealth mod done and channel 2 (blue) is tone's heaven. I brought my '94 Fender Blues Jr and my Carvin 112 Nomad both of which had not been working for quite a while. I had taken them to a, now defunct, amp repair facility near the SJ airport which had failed to fix these amps several years ago. Keith at The Amp Lab diagnosed and fixed both amps ahead of the 2 week backlog estimate that he gave me and gave me some operational tips on both of these amps. These amps have never sounded better. Loved the sound, but it started acting up a few months after purchase. After a few weeks with Keith he fixed the wiring issue and that amp has been trouble-free ever since. Today I brought in a boutique Tone King Imperial 6V6 amp making some rattling noises. This is one of the few places in town where you can go for amp repair. I was recommended to Keith by my local guitar luthier. The shop is located near downtown Campbell, and is tucked away in the back of a dead end. I brought in my Marshall DSL 40cr combo amp, which I bought about 2.5 years ago, so it is not that old. I was having sound problems where it would randomly stop producing sound intermittently. Keith diagnosed the problem to be a faulty tube, and replaced it with a new one. I have not had problems with the amp after he fixed it, and it sounds good as new. The only downside was the waiting time. The work took a little over 5 weeks to turn around when the initial estimated completion time was around 4 weeks. read more

Keith is an amp wizard who fixes things ONCE. He's seen it all and there's *never* those return visits to "get it right". He gets it right at a reasonable price with a good turn over time. I tried to buy the A.L.I. unit and a FULLY LOADED bass knob roughly costing about $200. I emailed them asking if they could make the bass knob work with the A.L.I unit since the older model did but the newer models don't. Ethan was very rude with me and basically told me I could not have what I wanted even though they have already made it previously and just "updated" it to NOT be compatible with THEIR bass knob. I was trying to spend a lot of money to get what I wanted they were not interested in helping me to the point that he even block me on Facebook. Keith is THE man when it comes to amp repair. Yes, his wait times are long...but if you want the repair done CORRECTLY with great attention to detail, for a fair price...bring your stuff to the amp lab. Drop it off, forget about it for a while...then you'll get the call it's done...and it's AMAZING. Had him refurb a Marshall 7400 bass amp some years ago, and it still is working flawlessly, he even greased the faders on the EQ and replaced a mounting chassis bolt that I didn't think was possible to get. Today I picked up my 1973 Orange OR80. I bought it sight unseen; it needed a few things - he even went the extra mile to shield some components to eliminate some hums and bleedthrough. The amp sings again...I had no idea if I'd like it...but I do! There are fewer and fewer people that do this kind of work, so having Keith and the Amp Lab around is a treasure. Rock on! read more

I was building a Bassman tube amp based on a very old Fender schematic. I made very good progress but at first test found the amp had a really big problem. I spent three weeks with an oscilloscope trying to debug the issue and was about to give up. I found Amp Lab and brought the head to Keith. He debugged the issue and for an unbelievably reasonable price fixed the issue and repaired some other issues. He also provided detailed recommendations for improvements. Wow - it sounds incredible and Keith also gave me some great ideas for speakers. I can't recommend Amp Lab more highly. One day my Korg M1 keyboard just wouldn't turn on. I called Gelb Music and they referred me to Amp Lab. Once I walked in, I knew I was in the right place and that if anyone could fix my keyboard, Keith could do it, and he did -- for pretty much what he estimated, less than I feared it would cost, and it took him about as long as he estimated to do the repair. Keith is a cool guy and great when it comes to amp problems. I recently bought a used Fender Blues Jr limited edition that had an annoying rattle/buzzing on certain notes when playing at higher volumes that was driving me nuts and I couldn't figure out. Keith looked at my amp right away and was able to diagnose it very quickly. He found a missing screw and some other loose screws on the pc boards and also a microphonic tube. He fixed the amp quickly and charged me a reasonable price. I used the amp with my band that night was blown away how good it sounds. Tons of power and great tone and no more rattle. Keith is as honest as it gets. I had an old Laser Disc player that was having some issues and was referred to Keith. He repaired the player and then told me he had found a small brass piece floating around in the case and he did not know where it came from but when he tested it is seemed to be working just fine. He told me to take the unit home and make sure it was up to my satisfaction and was operating well .He the told me I did not have to pay him until I took the player home and was satisfied with his work. I took the unit home and it worked great, and of course I paid him promptly. This transaction happened a few years ago and the player stiff works great, I never forgot the service I received from Keith and decided to write this review.
