We did quick stop before heading home through Santa Barbara to relax a little. We wanted to go to to brophy bros because of the review but the wait was too long. So we stumble on anchor rose on to top of a museum. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the bartender, who asked us preference for indoor or outdoor, my husband wanted outdoor for view and soak in beautiful sun and weather. Then the odd part started; three server walked by us with no greeting, just gave us the quick eye contact. Sat there for 15 mins until my husband had to get up to flag a server down; he almost wanted to leave. Later we found out that they had some confusion with who supposed to serve us. However, it didn't give them excuse of no one tries to offer help after eye contacts. Hence, the two stars off. The cocktails were well made; my favorite was the old fashioned with big rock. We had steamed clams, oysters and fish & chips. Nothing really stands out to us, food wise. Probably not going back. read more

We took a road trip to Santa Barbara and after we went to the Douglas Family Preserve, we had lunch at this incredible restaurant ... the waitstaff was lovely... Roasted artichoke was beyond delicious... Cobb salads, Caesar Salad with chicken ... the chicken was so tasty with its grillmarks... The best French Fries! The views on this beautiful day of the docked boats, mountains in the background and the ocean took our breaths away! Highly recommended and the parking is easy ! Anchor Rose is a restaurant sitting on second floor of the Maritime Museum. Raw oyster were excellent, fresh and clean. Steamer clams were good, needs more butter. Fish and chips were aaverage. My bf and I went sailing to Santa Barbara from Ventura and stayed one night at the gust slip in Santa Barbara harbor. When we got there, we were so hungry because we hadn't eaten since the night before. We found and tried this restaurant because it's at the harbor and we didn't want to walk around to find a place to eat. Strangely We go to the harbor very often but I don't know why we had never tried here before. First, we liked the nice harbor view from the outside terrace table. The stunning views of the mountains, boats, and oceans make the trip worthwhile on their own. They also have a nice happy hour, and delicious seafood options. The views are amazing! The hostess was so sweet and helpful. We had the perfect table. Our waiter was on it. The food came out pretty fast & hot. Now for the drawback. The seabass that my bf ordered didn't look like seabass the color was off and it was not moist. I don't play about fish especially when we're right by the water in SB. I had to convince my bf to send it back. I told our waiter we didn't like it and he said "it's already been made". Gee really? He told his manager and he came back to get what we wanted. Enjoyed a nice dinner here at sunset. Being up on the roof top was nice to look over the marina. Surprised to get a table fairly easily on a Friday night. Appears they have lots of seating Overall the service was great although it was a bit intrusive that once we were done and the plates were cleared that they actually came and wiped down the table and set it up for next guests while we were still sitting there. The food was of high quality. I got the fish and chips and my wife got the sea scallops. Portions were decent, prices were fair. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would NEVER go back. I would NEVER wish this kind of dining experience upon anyone. It was by far the worst overall dining experience I have ever had. It was clear that nobody involved had any kind of training for their role in the business. From the hostess, to the waitress, to the bartender to the cook to the manager. We were in the Sante Barbara for a few days and decided to have lunch at The Anchor Rose which I later found out that this restaurant has change names four other times, they're located in the Maritime Museum building, the hostess checked in downstairs then we had to walk up or take the stairs up to the restaurant. We were seated overlooking the harbor, btw is the very best part about visiting this place, plus we also waited about 10 to 15 mins. before the waiter came to our table, he brought only one glass of water, about 10 mins. went by I literally got up and found our waiter, he stater to me he would be there after he take care of another table, I asked another staff worker for the water. We ordered the classic caesar salad, which was just OK, the fish & chips the fish was well over cooked, the tacos de pescado which also was just OK and lastly a mojito this wea pretty good, we decided to get dessert somewhere else. Not great, but not bad, just...there. In all honesty, this could've been a 4 star review, but the place was severely understaffed for lunch on a Saturday. All were friendly and polite, but you know it's gonna be rough when it takes 10 min for your water to come out. Expected to be in and out within 40 minutes, was there for almost an hour and a half. My partner and I were not impressed by the food, but it also wasn't inedible - we've just had better. We got the ceviche as an appetizer, then the sea bass and shrimp sandwich as our meals, both with a side of fries. The chips for the ceviche were both crunchy and stale at the same time, and while the ceviche itself tasted alright, I felt that everything could have been minced smaller to better fit on the chip and that it was an expensive appetizer. It cost more than the shrimp sandwich! Shrimp sandwich was decent and had good size shrimps, one piece still had shell though. The sea bass was the most disappointing since as you can see from the picture, the plate was half fries. The mango apple salsa on top of the fish was pretty tasty though, and really, the fries were bomb; but if fish is supposed to be the star, I expect it to actually BE the star. Seating itself seemed flexible and nice, and the restaurant has a view of the wharf, but the patio is only half covered. We took a seat in the Sun because we were really hungry; but regretted it when the breeze stopped. I got sunburnt on my shoulders. Come prepared with hats and sunscreen, and still tip your server because they were clearly working hard. read more

I got the chicken sandwich, veryyyy mid. Had some weird kind of taste to it, not sure if it was the lettuce or micro greens. Wasn't a fan. The fries were good, I'll give them that much. Husband got the Paella Del Mar and he said it wasn't very good, over salted, lack of depth of flavor, on the plus side there was a good amount of food. The location gets the 5 stars. The food was good as was the service. It's new so I think they're still ironing out a few things. They do have a large happy hour menu with some drinks and appetizers. The prices were inline with what things cost these days and not crazy high. Portions were large and food quality seemed good. It was nice to have a place to get dinner at the harbor without a long wait. Hopefully soon the city will let them change the sign and add their name to the building. read more

Beets were perfectly cooked, but the greens were past their prime, dressing was mostly oily, and goat cheese was completely missing. It came with a chunk of bread on the stale side. I was seated for over 15 minutes, and the waitress kept waiting on the tables around me, but she never once acknowledged me nor did she say a word to me. Well we tried The Anchor Rose again. This time happy hour after our walk. Really hoping they can keep improving. Greeted upon entering and our server was friendly and attentive. However appetizers on happy hour menu were disappointing. We ordered calamari and mussels each dish was $10.00. Although tasty, nothing special and over priced for what's served. Calamari was five sad strips and mussels were ten mussels and five of them I had to remove the beard myself before eating. Disappointing. Probably not try again. read more

This was the venue chosen for my son's wedding dinner, February 7, 2025. The early window of time 4 - 7 pm was to help to accommodate his 95 year old grandmother and families with young children. Once there nothing seemed to flow in a timely manner. They had to be reminded in regards to bringing out the champagne and seeing that everyone had a glass in which to toast. Our dinner was not served until close to 7 with one guest being totally forgotten, he then had to wait for a dinner to be made. The food was okay, just hit or miss as to who and when guests were served. They were definitely lacking servers for our group of 43. The patio view is a ten. I realize that we have no control over weather, yet if everything had followed the schedule, patio heaters perhaps would not have been needed. This being said, they were lacking in this area/department too. Most disappointing, his grandmother and family/young nieces from Hawaii were not able to make it through the long delay and needed to leave early. I used the website to make a reservation for 6pm and when we arrived we were told it would be a 20 minute wait or more. The tried to get us to wait and sit at a high table with stools while waiting. After 20 minutes and no attention we just left. I can't really review the food except to say that the menu showed really high prices for food that didn't look that impressive. read more

We made a pitstop in Santa Barbara on the way back from Solvang. Right off the bat one of the major selling points was that their sign said dog friendly. Gotta love a place that starts out like that! It was fairly empty because it's brand new and tucked away above the Museum, so I was a little apprehensive. But let me tell you... this little gem had some of the most amazing food I've ever had in my entire life. We did the octopus and the Portabella salmon, which had the most exploding flavors ever! I don't think I could ever have a better octopus dish anywhere else and I've thought about it nonstop ever since I left. Truly just incredible food. We did two bloody Mary's also which were top-notch. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu, which is always a plus to me. As I mentioned before they allow dogs, but they allow dogs indoors! And you can't beat the view! You got a view of the entire harbor while you sip on your yummy cocktails and enjoy your delicious food. With your dog! There is plenty of parking in the lot and it is way less expensive than I thought. Santa Barbara Harbor would be. Overall just blown away by this little restaurant.
