We were having a fridge problem, and I let him know the model and symptoms, and he gave me an estimate but shared that I could get a better price going through one of his contacts he used to work with in the business that works for the brand of my fridge. Man of character. I found him on Yelp and initially texted him regarding getting a quote to fix / replace a water inlet valve for my old washer which was over 10 years old. He was honest enough to tell me my washer was old and probably not worth it to pay him to fix it. I appreciated his honesty, unlike others who would have cared less, and just taken my money. He suggested I try to fix it myself, and even took the time to provide me with instructions on what I needed to do to unclog the water inlet filter. I had a dryer issue and found Solet on yelp. I gave him a call and explain the situation. Solet was able to stop by the the same day afternoon to come to inspect the problem. He came over and did some diagnostic came out that one of the parts needed to be replaced. Solet was very honest with his opinion and gave us option to either replace it and purchase the parts. Not huge difference in pricings. We ended up purchasing the replacement part and asked Solet to come install for us. He told us it will take at least 1-2 weeks to recieve the parts and will give us a call once the parts arrived. I reached out to the Appliance Doctor a couple of months back while I was researching for an appliance repair person. My Kitchenaid electric oven had stopped working as the warranty had just expired. While reading all the positive reviews I found out that the Appliance Doctor also services and installs HVAC units. As the summer was approaching and my still functioning but under powered 37 year old HVAC unit was on its last leg. I made a decision to replace my HVAC/furnace. I had received two quotes from other HVAC vendors and never felt completely comfortable with their bids and communication. Solet, the owner of the Appliance Doctor was patient, communication was outstanding on the details of the install and helping my decision making on the tonnage, seer ratings, and various functions for the unit. As someone who is obsessive about researching a large purchase, Solet was patient with me and did not pressure on the process. I probably changed my mind on him like 3 times on the equipment I wanted. He allowed me to come to my own decision on what type of system I wanted and never stopped communicating. I then decided on a basic unit, Goodman 14 seer 5 ton single stage. The money I saved on going with a basic unit allowed me to install a whole house fan. During the installation process he encountered a problem. As Solet installed the evaporator unit above the furnace he noticed a crack in the evaporator unit. He conducted a leak test and found that the evaporator unit was not leaking. Although it was going to be much more work for him, Solet recommended that we remove the evaporator unit and he would get a perfect one from the distributor. A lessor installer who is worried about their time/money would have just installed the damaged unit without saying anything. As much as I wanted the work to be done so I could enjoy a nice cool house that day, I very much appreciated the honesty and integrity. Solet then removed the damaged unit and came back the following day and finished the work. He checked my vents and ducting and located some improperly installed ducting. He fixed and adjusted my ducting without additional charge which greatly increased the airflow into the rooms. Overall I was extremely happy and grateful I found someone honest and trustworthy. The decision to hire a contractor during COVID 19 was hard to make but I was glad I found the Appliance Doctor. Solet, the owner and the one doing the work was extremely clean, always wearing booties in the house, and having a mask on during the installation. Had a gas furnace that was having some issues so messaged the appliance doctor via yelp. Looked like he was on vacation but he still managed to inquire about my problems and led me on a step by step direction to try to diagnose the possible issue with my furnace. Fortunately, the furnace started working again somehow and he suggested not running a in person diagnostic since it's hard to diagnose a furnace that's not completely broken. I first contacted Solet K. of The Appliance Doctor about June 7 to see if he could service an old Amana in-the-wall air conditioner which was no longer emitting cool air. He advised it could no longer be serviced and we discussed replacing it with a mini split. After having the old AC removed and the hole in the wall patched, today, August 6, he installed a Daikin unit that he recommended. He worked very carefully and cleanly. I am repairing the stucco on the adjacent wall, and unit was so close, I could not get access to repair the cracks. Solet pumped the coolant out of the unit and disconnected the electrical for a very fair price. I also found Solet to be genuinely nice and polite. He was on time and the work took less than an hour.
