Great experience with Sergey. My refrigerator was acting up, I have repaired my own refrigerators forever, but I had a spinal injury and now I can't bend and twist my body to work on things like this. My diagnosis was that the drain tube (inaccessible on this small refrigerator) and thermostat were freezing up due to the drain hose being blocked by ice. So I was interested in finding out, and if whoever came would try to "upsell" me unneeded repairs or parts. The phone was answered immediately and the nice lady made me an appointment in about 2 hours from when I called...pretty remarkable. I figured it would be a day or 2. When Sergey arrived, he was totally professional, he had the right small tools to pry the plastic covers off the back of the freezer, and let me watch, and sure enough the whole system of the drain, thermostat, etc, was totally frozen and not working. (I had been using a hairdryer on that area the last few days to thaw things out and keep it working, but I knew that there had to be more area frozen than I could affect with the hair dryer). So my diagnosis was correct. Would Sergey do what I feared most repair guys would try? Tell me it was something else, a part was broken, etc??? Absolutely NOT. He explained what was happening, HONESTLY and went to work, the most important tool he had with him ( I guess because of how I described the problem to the lady on the phone) was a sort of electric water kettle, but it could aim the stream of steam directly on an affected area. He had everything melted in maybe 15 minutes, everything was in working order, he sealed everything back up without cracking any of the plastic (!), and then we advanced to payment. Here, he actually did delete the charge for visit/diagnosis, as advertised, and I paid him a reasonable price, and now a week later everything still perfect. I really needed this fixed if possible , it is for my very small kitchen, the only refrigerator that would ever fit (only 24"x 26"x 62") and I had been shopping around online and could not find any new fridges that were that size, only smaller, and this one is so small that I basically have to go to the store every 2 or 3 days as it is. So high marks for Evotech, something that is getting harder and harder to say nowadays. The only minor niggle is that there was no warranty or anything on the repairs. But because I had never discussed that before he began work, I just accepted the fact and REALLY needed that refrigerator working again, and based on his professionalism and his discussion with me that the problem may have been the insulation on the rear of the plastic panels in the freezer had begun to deteriorate (it's 10 years old) and he could not replace that anyway. My 60 year old GE stove suddenly stopped working so I sent out a Yelp request. I got several responses but most of them said "No" after l pointed out that this is a very old stove. They quoted us the price of a new washer for a repair. Their invoice mentioned a "new pump was installed," but they also wrote the pump was never damaged. When I called for clarification (since I wasn't present during the diagnostic), they admitted the old pump was still in place. It felt sketchy. Avoid at All Costs - Dishonest and Unreliable! We paid an assessment fee and were told by Sergy that our refrigerator could be repaired for $550. After the repair, the freezer and ice maker completely stopped working leaving it were worse than before. He then said he could "try other parts" for another $200, claiming the original parts couldn't be returned but could not guaranteed that it would work. Later, as a "gesture of goodwill," he offered to refund half of the service, only to change his story to say he'd come retrieve the parts for return, which he previously said wasn't even possible. This back-and-forth was completely dishonest. We're now out $600 and left with a broken fridge that was clearly beyond repair from the start. Sergy should have been upfront and honest, and told us we needed a new refrigerator instead of wasting our money and time. Do not trust this guy. Terrible experience. read more

I had a problem with my Fisher Paykel dishdrawer not draining, and the ice maker in one of my Subzero freezer drawers was broken. I first called another appliance repair service which name starts with the first letter of the alphabet. That repair person came out and completely misdiagnosed both problems. Fortunately, that repairman was unable to find the part he thought should be replaced in the dishwasher, so I called Evotech next. According to Sergey's analysis, it was a completely different part that needed to be replaced. Sergey not only replaced the part on the dish drawer not working, he discovered the same problem in the other dishdrawer. And the ice maker situation got resolved without having to buy any new parts, and his quote for the entire job was less than the first guy.
