Relaxing tea house with hangout vibes (still finding its rhythm) Stopped by Monstera Tea House and the first thing I noticed was how bright and airy the space feels. The interior leans minimalist -- lots of white, light wood tabletops, and green plant accents that match the "Monstera" name. It's a calm and comfortable space to sit for a while. They also have board games like chess, Uno, and Jenga, which makes it feel more like a casual hangout spot than just a quick grab-and-go tea shop. What I ordered: Peach Hibiscus tea with rainbow jelly 5 macarons (pistachio x2, vanilla, strawberry, and another flavor everything except caramel) Fried chicken tenders & fries combo They offer 10% off if you follow them on Instagram or Facebook, which brought my total to about $25. The Peach Hibiscus tea ended up being the highlight. It was refreshing and not overly sweet, and the rainbow jelly added a fun texture. I was a little disappointed they were out of boba, since that's usually my go-to topping. The macarons looked nice visually but the flavors didn't quite come through. The pistachio in particular tasted mostly sweet rather than having a distinct pistachio flavor. The shells were also a bit chewy with slightly uneven edges. The fried chicken tenders and fries ended up being the biggest issue. Two guests ahead of me had already been waiting around 30 minutes before I even placed my order. After ordering, it became clear the kitchen hadn't actually started the food yet. I could hear one staff member explaining to another how to make the tenders and mentioning that the process takes about 7 minutes total. Hearing that while watching orders sit unprepared made the delay a bit confusing. The couple ahead of me had ordered about 10 minutes before I did and still hadn't received their food either. The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves and chatting, which is great for morale, but the service side didn't feel very focused on getting orders out in a timely way. Eventually I decided to ask for a refund rather than continue waiting. I also noticed they sell $18 individual cakes that come in small square tins (similar to tiramisu containers). They might taste great, but visually they looked fairly simple, so the price point felt a bit high for what you see. Overall: The space itself is pleasant and the tea was refreshing. It's also nice that they provide games for people to hang out. Unfortunately, between the food delays, items being out of stock, and the feeling that the kitchen wasn't fully prepared yet, the experience ended up feeling like a lot of money spent without much payoff. Came here after a relaxing spa day at Descanso Garden Spa. It was a random Tuesday, so it was a bit empty. The decor is very spacious and clean though-this looks like a great place to study/get some work done or hang out with friends. I ordered the sunset tea lychee red guava with boba; the bobarista made it quickly, and it tasted delicious. It's awesome when something you order comes out just like it's supposed to according to pictures. The drink was sweet but not cloyingly so, and the boba was nice and chewy. Had a great experience at the Monstera Teahouse. Didn't try any of the food, but had a refreshing matcha drink and the service was quick and the barista was friendly. The ambiance is beautiful! Lots of pretty monsteras around (just as you would expect!) and plenty of seating available too. I was so surprised to see their extensive menu and was happy to see that it wasn't completely full with a long line, as it was the middle of the day. Will definitely be back to try new items on the menu. No problem with parking and it's a great location as there are a couple of gyms and spas nearby, so it's the perfect spot to get something refreshing after a day of sweating and working out. This place is under new ownership, from what the barista told me, and that they take care of their employees which makes me want to support this place even more. The ambiance is nice and the customer service is 10/10. I ordered the strawberry matcha which was okay. However the creme brulee cheesecake was phenomenal! Their summer special: mint mango honey dew was just ok (couldn't really taste mint or mango) so I suggest just ordering from their main menu. I like that there are so many real plants inside the store. Nice chill vibes. Would be great if they had some boardgames to borrow. Maybe I'll bring one next time! Parking lot hard to get to if you are trying to make a left turn into oncoming traffic. There's a parking structure right around the corner though and you can take an elevator up to the main floor. Honestly the most fire boba drinks between Tujunga to downtown. It's one of those hidden gems that people seem to just pass by because of the location, but trust me their boba is way better than those big chain locations and franchises. The teas are all real ingredients not powders and syrups. The boba is always fresh and perfectly cooked. They use high quality milk too which is great. I recommend the brown sugar milk tea and the ube taro frostie. Even if I lived far from here I would drive for their boba because of the excellent quality. It's a shame this place isn't more popular because their teas, frosties and coffees blow more well-known establishments out of the water. Prices are really fair too. Interior has a cozy calm vibe with a lot of plants. I can tell the owner really put their heart into this place. Give it a try I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately my recent experience missed the mark. I stopped in and ordered a drink with boba, but ended up waiting about 15 minutes for it to be made. What made the wait more frustrating was seeing several other customers who arrived after me get their drinks before mine. When my drink finally came out, it was missing the boba entirely, even though I had paid extra for it. To top it off, the drink had hard chunks of brown sugar that hadn't been properly mixed in. Every sip was gritty, which really took away from the overall experience. I'm hopeful this was just an off day. I'd love to return and give the place another chance, especially if they're open to remaking the drink the way it was originally ordered. I don't know how I didn't know about this place sooner, it's right by my house! Boba is great! Food is okay. We got the spring rolls and bubble waffles. I would recommend putting mochi inside the bubble waffles, it would taste better. Or with some condensed milk on the side. Other than that, the bubble waffles really don't have much flavor. The spring rolls were good but I just wish it had rice noodles inside. It's too expensive for just lettuce and a piece of meat. I did like that they gave a lot of peanut sauce though! And that it's well packaged. I also got the ube taro frostie and it was so cute and yummy! Cute and clean place in Tujunga hidden next to the pharmacy in the Descanso Spa shopping plaza. Monstera has a variety of unique flavors that you don't normally see in other boba shops. I went for the sea salt basil seed wintermelon, mango yogurt, mint mango honeydew, sunrise tea and Thai tea bobas. The boba texture was excellent in my opinion. Not old. Not stale. Fresh and chewy. My drink was a bit sweet even with the 50% level, so I wouldn't necessarily get it again. The other drinks I was told were not as flavorful. The mango yogurt was, though. The service is friendly.
