Looking for a great bagel- fresh as can be? One that has flavor, softness, the balance between chewy and crunchy? I found it! I love a tasty egg and cheese bagel and this place served up exactly what I needed. I called ahead as I was ordering 9 of them for family! The customer service was incredibly refreshing! When people say New Yorkers come across rude or abrupt- well this place will out customer service any Arizonan I've met. It was lovely! The owner (presumably) was there with his team when I picked up the food and everyone was sooo kind and efficient. I really do recommend this place for a no-frills, pick-up bagel shoppe in Ahwatukee. I loved everything about this bagel place. It was simple and easy to choose from. The service was fantastic. The people working at the front which seemed to be the owners were very kind and funny people. I got the sausage and egg and cheese on an everything bagel and it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. This spot is a hidden gem. Ambiance wise, it reminded us of the bagel shops back east. Upon entry the gentleman kinda gave us the heads up that it was cash only at the time because their system was down. We thankfully had some cash on hand to be able to partake in a yummy bagel. Lol. It was only 8:30a when we entered and WOW, there were only about a dozen of plain bagels left and ONE onion bagel. I'm personally really not a fan of plain bagels...like they are so...plain. lol so I opted for the onion bagel, toasted, with plain cream cheese to split. He toasted the bagel just enough where the outside layer has just enough crunch and the inside warm and chewy. My favorite part, he was SO generous with the cream cheese!!! :P that's how shops back home stuff their bagels and we miss that because out here, other places are so stingy with it. So, based on that, we will come back...next time much earlier AND bring more cash (just in case) so we can try more of his bagels and even flavored cream cheeses. xx read more

Came here at around 8:45 on a Friday (last day of my fall break!) and they were nearly sold out! Like less than 10 bagels left I think! Service was great and super fast. It's just a small place so good to get to go! I got a salt bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. I will say it is not the prettiest bagel I've seen in my life, but wow it was very very delicious! This is the best bagel i've had outside of NYC!! One of my friends (a native New Yorker) has been coming to The Bagel Man for YEARS! As in when there used to be an EOS next door. Make workout gains, then eat delicious gains with The Bagel Man. Anytime I've gone, I never have a chance to snap a pic of my breakfast because I'm generally too hungry to care (a rarity). The bagels are always fresh and he's got great options for a hearty breakfast sandwich or if you just need a face full of carbs... the bagels are HUGE! I'm a fan of the garlic or onion for a sandwich or a sweet blueberry bagel if going just for cream cheese or butter. Times are hard with rising costs, and I feel like I get good bang for my buck with Mr Bagel Man. In speaking with him, he's there just about everyday at 3am to provide us with homemade from-scratch deliciousness. With every bite, you'll taste The Bagel Man's love of his craft. It's nice to find a neighborhood spot in my new hood #TheTuke where you're guaranteed a smile and a full stomach. read more

The Bagel Man does it right! Looking for genuine boiled bagels? Got 'em! Nothing replaces the chewyness of a boiled bagel. I've tried baked bagels at other establishments before, but they just aren't the same. Their scrambled egg breakfast sandwich was delicious. I chose bacon as the "meat" which was crispy and piled high. The only drawback was that it was slightly greasy, but the flavor was definitely there. The Cinnamon Raisin bagel with butter was also good. It had a generous schmear of soft, creamy butter (maybe a bit too much). The butter had very little flavor and may have been unsalted. I wish The Bagel Man had greater availability in terms of hours , seating and flavors. They're open only five hours a day and closed entirely on Sundays. Also, the bagel flavor options are limited to start. On a 10:00am visit, most flavors (including Plain) were not available at all. There are no tables or chairs, so plan for take out only. All in all, The Bagel Man has great bagels and I look forward to visiting again. read more

I got the Lox bagel with no onions and my fiancé got the blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The owner repeatedly asked about four times for our order, which was annoying. Not to mention we the only customers in the store at the time. The bagel was extremely hard making it difficult to chew. I would not recommend. read more

This place has been here much much longer than my knowledge. I used to work next door when it was a Greek restaurant and never had the pleasure of trying the place out because they're open 6-11 am and I didn't come into work until 11 am. The owner is very nice and the business has a very loyal customer base. I went in before close so there was only 3 different bagels to choose from! Gotta get there early to get all the flavors. This is a great place with some tasty bagels! My students continually recommended the Bagel Man and today I finally stopped in. At around 7am on a Monday there was a nice selection of bagels, and the offerings for breakfast sandwiches all looked very tempting. I ended up going with my classic everything w/ lox combo and was not disappointed--the bagel itself wasn't too tough or too doughy and the amount of cream cheese was very generous. I'm used to a pickle with that crisp, juicy snap and strong briny flavor, and these were softer and didn't have much of that traditional pickled taste. The fries were also cut very thick, which may be their particular style, but they weren't my favorite. As far as service, my server was meh, At one point I had to get coffee refills from other servers because my server seemed to disappear at times and didn't quite check up on me. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely took away from the overall experience. I will say, I know I may have a higher bar than most when it comes to pastrami. I grew up in LA eating at places like Langer's, Canter's, and Nate 'n Al's, so I'm used to pastrami that has a really distinctive, peppery, savory flavor and those crunchy deli pickles. I will preface this review by saying that I have spent most of my life living in New York and I am absolutely critical of all bagels that I eat. Now, let me say that Bagel Man carries by far the best bagel I have ever tasted outside of New York State. The owner has a location back east as well, so it is no surprise that he knows what he's doing. You can try anywhere else you want in the Phoenix metro region, but you will never find a bagel that comes even close to the flavor and taste of these authentic bagels. Every single one of my family and friends that have come to visit me agree. In addition, anytime I introduce these bagels to any of my local friends they are blown away and from then on will not buy a bagel anywhere else. Plain and simple, Bagel Man has the absolute best bagels you will have outside of New York and I have even found in many occasions that his bagels are better than some of the places back east. read more

Stuck in a nondescript strip mall in Ahwatukee is one of the biggest surprises you will find. Are you from back East or the Midwest? Do you miss real bagels so much that when you visit home and the first thing you do is run out and buy a real bagel? Well, the wait is over. Real bagels straight from the East are here! Simply put? Best Bagels In The Valley Cal, the owner, and his staff are exceedingly friendly, they know their customers by name after only 1-2 visits and remember your order. They take time to have conversation as they help customers and it's clear they enjoy chatting with the patrons. I've been frequenting this place for a while now, and finally decided to write a review. If you are looking for a fancy "Panera-esque" veneer, you might be surprised by this place. I had the pleasure of trying the bagels at the Bagel Man in Phoenix, AZ, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. These bagels are as close to authentic NY style as you can get on the West Coast. The reasonable prices are just the icing on the cake. The generous portion of cream cheese paired perfectly with the super fresh bagels, making for a delightful breakfast experience. It's truly impressive to find such good bagels this far west. I should have taken a photo of my food BEFORE I started eating because it doesn't look as nice anymore. That aside the bagels are so big and tasty. Don't be surprised if there is a a line and they have closed early because they ran out bagels! Goes to show how good this place is. My favorite is the cheese bagels. The staff are wonderful and part of the reason I suggest coming here. You can tell the regulars are very pleased with this place. I just wish I live closer to be a regular. read more

I came back in for lunch had the "Sexy". The Boar's head meat was incredible. The Bagel Man never has enough of the bagels we like in stock. Even if you order ahead, they are often not available when you get there. His manner is unpleasant and uncooperative. His employees are visibly uncomfortable around him. His bagels are very expensive and not that good. I have been to many places that are less expensive and much better tasting. Do yourself a favor and avoid the aggravation. read more

I have had positive experience at this establishment in the past few years, but was extremely frustrated to find that the owner added a 20% tip to my card payment without even ASKING for permission this morning. I advise others to be cautious and make sure to add the tip themselves when paying with a card, otherwise, you might just end up paying more than you should have. read more

I like the jalapeño cream cheese but I think their scallion cream cheese is even better. You can get bagels as is, with cream cheese or butter etc and then they have breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
