Decent little bagel shop. Fairly affordable given it's on a tourist island on the east coast. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was good, but nothing to write home about. Coffee was decent, but also nothing special. They've got a few other things on the menu too like omelettes and burritos. The service was efficient and staff were friendly enough. Small joint. Awful customer service!! Ordered online and when we picked up and got the order home we saw that a couple items were missing or incorrect. We called and the girl was totally rude, she wouldn't tell me her name bc 'she didn't know what I would do with it' basically I wanted to know who I was talking to. I started explaining the situation again and she cut me off and I yelled how rude she was being and she hung up. My husband ended up walking over with his wrap that had spinach in it when that wasn't in the description to ask them and she said the cook thought it looked plain so they 'added' extra. Yet a breakfast wrap with egg whites looks fine as plain as it was. As it turned out she apologized for the phone call but we explained you can't say you put the order together yourself and it was correct when you have no idea. Staff is always friendly and quick and this has become a staple place to visit every summer when we come down! This place was awful. I have been here 3 times and every single time, I was given the wrong food and had TERRIBLE service. When I walk in, I have to repeat my order multiple times. And I have seen many other people who were given the wrong food. They completely forgot my order and then I went to remind them. I say, "Hi, you forgot my order" and I proceed to tell her my order. She responds and says, "Ugh I'll help you in a minute." I waited 10 more minutes and NOTHING. I go back and they have they haven't even started making my order. If you're ok with your bagels being dirty, this is the spot for you. The woman at the register runs her hands through money, the cash register then on your bagel. I was shocked when I asked for a bagel with butter right after she finished ringing up several customers before me. She touched every dirty thing possible before handling my bagel, including the telephone and credit card machine. She grabbed my bagel cut it and began buttering it all without gloves or washing her hands. I was appalled that she didn't think she was doing anything wrong. Handling food and handling cash should be done by two separate people or at least put gloves on or wash. There were several over people working so it wasn't like she didn't have options. I stopped her mid butter to tell her no thanks and she was completely odd and rude when I called her out on her lack of proper food handling skills. She was shocked that I had a problem with how she was going about the whole process. I walked out annoyed and in total disbelief over what had just transpired. Cash-only tiny breakfast joint near everything on the island. Prices may seem prices to some, but pretty standard for the island: $5.50 for breakfast sandwiches $1.75 for bagel/cream cheese (must-try the french toast bagel!) All drinks are $2.50 which is absurd for a regular bottle of water This is my go-to place when grabbing breakfast (especially convenient b/c you can just walk to the beach minutes away with your food) They do get VERY busy in the morn/afternoon so remember to grab a ticket and listen for your number. Oh and they DON'T toast your bagel, so don't ask. Bagels are usually warm and fresh anyways. read more

Although the ingredients of the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich were delicious, it was all but ruined by the fact that the bagel was not toasted! My boyfriend ordered a lox bagel sandwich, which they also did not toast. I would not have had a single complaint about the sandwiches, if they had been toasted. I love this place! The normal bagels are pretty good but the reason I keep going to The Bagel Shack is their French toast bagels. They are to die for. They are the best tasting bagels I have ever had in my life. But be careful - they run out of them quick. But one annoying thing about ordering the French toast bagels is that the person behind the counter will scowl at you because they don't want to get the powdered sugar from the bagel on their hands. Were it possible to rate 0 stars The Bagel Shack would earn that rating. The "service" is non-existent although that seems to be a theme at every restaurant on Long Beach Island. While theoretically a toaster is present, it either has no heating element or the bagels are put through too fast to even catch a hint of warmth. My advice is go elsewhere if possible.
