Don't know why this place only has 3.5 stars. Bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and the hash browns are awesome. I can't get enough of the hash browns they're just perfect when you're craving something comforting. Bunch of my friends got food from here and wraps too and they all said it was great. How are there so many poor ratings on the bagel shack?! They have the best bagels EVER. I always look forward to coming to the beach to get my bagel fix from them and only them. I refuse to get a bagel anywhere else when on lbi. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews, I think they are from renters who come down and think because it's their vacation week the whole island should revolve around them. Defiantly experienced that attitude a lot while waitressing at a restaurant in beach haven for quite a few years. I was incredibly friendly and diligent with my tables and good at what I did. Really enjoyed the bagels here (takeout and "dine-in"). The bagels are on the fluffy-side (which I personally love, but it's not everyone's cup of tea), chewy, and delicious. The place is small, but fierce. It is essentially a pass-through bagel shack with seating on either side of the shack: One side has high-tops, the other side has stone round picnic tables. I had a pork roll egg white and cheese on an everything bagel that was awesome, with an iced coffee. This is a great, standard, quick, reliable place for breakfast in a quick breakfast-sparse vacation town. read more

This place used to be my favorite place. As of 1/15/2017, their ceiling fan in the front part is disgusting and loaded with dust. I mean a thick black coat of dust. If no one can take their time to clean the front of the house I can only imagine the kitchen. Its a shame, this used to be my favorite spot. read more

The Bagel Shack has consistently had fresh bagels and a wide variety to choose from. My favorite is the everything bagel with cream cheese. The egg sandwiches are a good size and flavorful. Definitely need to get a dozen to go! read more

Excellent bagels!!! They now make these amazing smoothies and take credit cards since under new ownership. Oh, and they also toast the bagels too!! It truly is a great and friendly little spot with a menu that is sure to please everyone! Love this little place and highly recommend my favorite...the sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel lightly toasted with ketchup and an iced coffee! Spent the past weekend in a beach house within walking distance to the Bagel Shack. The service was really blah...the girls behind the counter were so unfriendly that everyone in our party took notice and commented. However the bagels were so fantastic that it didn't stop us from coming back every morning. Lines were long, but I suppose that's just a testimony to their tastiness. The bagel shack has always been my go-to place for breakfast and it's not just because I live across the street from it! They always have fresh bagels and muffins out. Along with that, their service is quite well. The only issue I have ever had coming here is with some of the young girls working behind the counter. Some of them are very snotty and give attitude. It honestly just makes me want to turn around and walk out when I get one of these girls. Obviously not all of the girls in there are like that, some of them are very sweet. Prices are straight up insane for (what is literally) a bagel shack. it's too small so getting served is a real pain in the neck. the food is adequate though but not excellent. something's just missing here for what should be a killer bagel place in a high traffic area. i give it 3 stars but i always feel disappointed here. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could. Probably the worst bagel I've eaten in years. There was a line to get in the door so figured... Hey it must be good! As soon as I saw the bagels I thought they couldn't be good as they were pale colored. They had a raw taste to them. I tried the sundried tomato cream cheese on an everything bagel and must say it was horrible tasting. My husband took one bite of his salt bagel with regular cream cheese and had a look of major disappointment on his face. We threw them in the trash and went up the street for some descent average bagels with no disappointment. read more

Not the same shack! New owners have changed prices and so many of the great things we always loved about the shack! Us local customers no longer frequent that place either as they no longer have lunch specials in the winter or that welcoming feeling that the place always had. read more

Where do I begin? As a long time customer of the bagel shack I will not be returning. The woman behind the counter is rude to every one (local or not). She consistently charges you for a large coffee no mater what size you order? When I politely said I ordered a small she yelled for me to "check my attitude at the door". This was the 5th time she had over charged and I was not yelling just stated I ordered a small. The younger woman is a delight you walk in you get a hello how is your morning...the other lady who is the new owner needs a lesson in customer service if she expects people to come back! I have been buying bagels there for over 25 years as well as cinammon buns and it was always 5 stars. I went there couple weeks ago and was sadly disappointed. I bought 2 bagels and a cinammon bun. Bagels were 3/4 of previous size and totally tastless. Cinammon bun was wrapped in PLASTIC WRAP but what was most disappointing was that it was covered with confectioner's sugar over the top sweet glaze and the bun dough was over dried , what happened to crean cheese icing?? I guess confectioner's sugar is much cheaper. It was like a bucket of cold water in my face. My final comment is that it is not enough to purchase a business , one should also purchase the recipes that made this store a landmark. 3 stars is for trying. read more
