Tomato basil bagel with cheese Louise and green onions
    Hannah N.

The bagelry is another place I always try to go to when I come home. They have my favorite bagels!! I either get the pesto or tomato basil bagel toasted. They have really great cream cheese options. I get the cheese louise and add green onions. They also have a bunch of bagel sandwiches. I would definitely recommended. They have a fridge with a bunch of drinks options including Diet Coke. I love a can of Diet Coke with my bagel. It was really busy when I went today, but the staff was still very nice and got things out to us quickly. The vibe is very local and fun. They have local artists paintings up for sale which I love!

Scrambled Eggs on a Toasted Bagel + cheese Louise and green chiles

I really love all the cream cheese spread options I think this is what sets bagel place apart. Today I got berry, cheese Louise-herb and cheese, and a tomato herb. I have yet to try the berry and tomato and herb. My bagel was hot, egg was seasoned, my cream cheese (cheese Louise) was super flavorful and I love how smooth and whipped it was with pieces of herb in each bite. It was wrapped very well, the bagel was super soft and chewy, and my scrambagel was done perfectly. I got a jalepeno bagel with cheese Louise spread, toasted with scrambled eggs. This was also the first place I've seen that seasons their scrambled eggs in a bagel sandwich- I totally appreciate that! They have a pretty good menu and they give you the option to do your bagels open faced, you can get half a slice of a bagel or make it a bfst sandwich or regular sandwich as they have bacon, turkey, salmon lox, and tuna- which i thought was pretty cool as well. They have a lot of toppings available for your sandwiches and they even sell soup and have a plethora of drinks, sodas, and water in the fridge. I didn't have to wait long and my bfst sandwiches were piping hot! I will return. I can't wait to try my open faced blueberry bagel with berry smear and tomato herb smear. There's a little lot where you can park and they have inside and outside seating. They are tucked away facing the street in the left corner. They have a center stand with salt, pepper, tobasco, and tapatio for you along with napkins. Thank you for good service and delicious food.

One of my favorite fast breakfast spots. They have a great menu that always has some interesting to try if you want a change of pace.

It should not take 25 minutes to make a bagel with cream cheese. The service here was painfully slow and the staff seemed distracted and not focused on their work. They were often just standing around. When I finally got my order, the bagel was cold. How does a toasted bagel come out cold? I usually enjoy the downtown location but this one was a disappointment. Even the day old bagels were rock solid which was surprising for early morning. I will not be coming back to this location.

I got the lox deluxe that has the sliced Norwegian lox, cream cheese, tomatoes, and capers. You can get them with red or green onions too. I didnt realize it was an open-face sandwich, which was surprising once I got it. It was worth the $12 because they add hella Lox on it. It took a little while because we were there during the morning rush, but we were happy since we got coffee and the refill was free.

Excellent bagels, great customer service, one of our favorite places in Aptos to stop and grab a quick bite to eat, location is clean and sometimes you may have to wait in a line out the door but that goes to show how good the customer service and bagels are

This store sucks. It is always out of bagels. How can a store stay open when they also run out of bagels.

The BEST coffee shop in Capitola…read more You're crazy if you think any other spot makes better coffee. Bagels and baked goods are also terrific. A little more expensive than some other pizza and bagel shops in the area but it's better. So if you don't want to spend the extra $2 for a bagel then just don't go here and then complain on Yelp. All the staff were super nice to my kids as well. Not a huge spot to work out of all day but a very pleasant atmosphere.

My mom got the blackberry scone for $5.50 and declared it phenomenal. So far, so good. Everyone's happy. Then I decided I needed to try their gluten-free bagel, made by Original Sunshine, which is known for making some seriously good gluten-free bagels. I went back up, ordered one plain gluten-free bagel. No spread. She said it would cost the same as with cream cheese. I said fine. The cashier walked behind the counter, opened a plastic bag full of bagels, grabbed one, placed it into a little brown pastry bag, and handed it to me nice and cold. Then came the grand finale: $8.74. ( I don't know how that came out to that price?) For. One. Bagel. No cream cheese. No toaster involvement. No ceremonial blessing that I witnessed. My friend, we have officially entered the artisanal bagel tax bracket. That felt a little like highway robbery--except apparently the highway runs directly through Capitola. And here's the most annoying part... THE BAGEL WAS DELICIOUS. ‍ I went home that evening and toasted it. So yes, I got robbed. But I walked away happy, eating the evidence. Would I buy it again? sigh Probably.

I don't get bagels locally because, well, just because. I happily ordered us coffee and bagels. Now, bear in mind, we roast our own coffee, so to us, the coffee was on the "good" side of Ok. The bagels, on the other hand, were delicious! And boy, do they pack on the cream cheese (maybe enough for 3 bagels depending on one's preference)! Service was friendly and fast. And all the people coming and going were very pleasant - there were plenty of them. The sitting area outside next to the road is pretty small (next to a dumpster, I think), and my guy was having some mobility challenges (on crutches, etc.). Folks in the neighboring table were so kind and accommodating, voluntarily standing up so that he could maneuver into a seat. We went back the following week (yes, another medical appt), and this time they were out of the bagels we wanted, so note to self... get there early if you want a favorite bagel. We will definitely be back to Firefly for the bagels! Have I said "bagels" enough times already?

I get that it's beach time and things move at a different pace, but being a little nicer to customers and visitors would make a big difference. Hopefully next time the service will be as good as the food. EDITED - Saturday, June 20, 2026 I'm updating my review after reading the owner's response. First, I want to clarify that the response appears to be a copy-and-paste message aimed at people leaving negative reviews. If you had actually read my original review, you would have noticed that I never complained about the food, the wait time, prices, staffing, or anything related to the quality of the business itself. In fact, I enjoyed the food and had no issue waiting. I visited on a Thursday, and the café wasn't packed. The owner was clearly working hard, and I respect that. However, when I walked in and said hello, I was completely ignored. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no sense that my business was appreciated. That was the only reason I left a 3-star review in the first place. The response talks about staffing shortages, minimum wage, food costs, and the challenges of running a small business. I understand all of that. Running a business is difficult. But those challenges don't really address the point I was making. A simple "Hi," "Welcome," or even a quick smile costs nothing and goes a long way. I also don't think customers should be made to feel responsible for business challenges such as labor costs or rent. Those are realities of ownership that every business owner has to navigate. That said, after thinking about it, I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 5 stars because the food was genuinely good, and I do support small businesses. My hope is simply that future customers are greeted with a little more warmth and appreciation when they walk through the door. One final thought: when someone leaves a critical review, it may be worth responding directly to their experience rather than posting a generic response. Sometimes there's valuable feedback hidden inside reviews that aren't really about the food at all. I wish you and your business success, and I genuinely hope you continue serving great food for years to come.
