So so bagels. I would expect more out of their bagels from a place called the bagelry, but they are only sub-par. I even prefer Whole foods bagels to this place. I tried a regular everything bagel and a gluten free bagel. The gluten free was hard as a rock, it wasn't even edible, I would have broke a tooth. My favorite breakfast spot! I recommend Onion bagels with the tuna salad and green onions. Yum. Docked a star because it is a little pricey, but I learned to buy day Olds and the half pints. Becomes a bit more affordable that way, but you have to eat 6 bagels before the tuna goes bad. read more

The 5 stars is for the gentleman whom just helped me. The girl behind the counter needs to be retrained in how to deal with customers. Poor guy took a phone order and she was mad over something he did. Then she snapped back and said some snarky little comment to him. Then the woman behind was trying to order a certain bagel and this lovely (being sarcastic) employee snaps at her with the same tone she had with guy saying we don't have a garlic bagel! Like woah woah woah chill. You may not like dealing with people all day but you should try harder and put on a smile & not be so rude to where customers can hear you as well. read more

Great bagels, and awesome spreads. Some of my favorites are the fandango, tomato herb, and egg salad. Their coffee could be better.

Pretty underwhelming, I can't believe so many good reviews for this place but maybe Sunday crowds are unusual? I feel guilty to leave a poor review but this whole wheat bagel tasted stale (they were out of everything and you can hear everyone disappointed grumbling and just eating what they have left! Lol). Stopped in yesterday morning for breakfast. I had a plain bagel with raspberry cream cheese. It was delicious and fresh. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service was kinda rude and I felt sorta uncomfortable being there. Anyways, I'll probably come back since the bagels were good. read more

UGH. I really want to give the bagelry more stars but I just can't. First (and most important), they do not understand what "toasted" bagel means. I have been several times and EVERYTIME the bagels are basically cold with no crispiness. On top of it, they usually take their time even when no one is in the shop... I gave them the 3 stars because of the fair price and vegan bagels. So yes, I will continue to give them business for those reasons alone. I just wish they would hear the customers out. I've been coming here for years but just in the last couple of months things have really gone down hill. More often than not they're out of whatever spread it is you want on your bagel. Even early in the day. I believe this comes down to a managerial issue. Whoever is on duty the day before should be ordering quantities enough to make it through the next day. There has been a huge turnover in the workers there, I don't recognize anyone. And most of the new help are very unfriendly. Today when a young lady was making my bagel, she paused, scratched deeply into her braided hair then continued to make my bagel. Gross. It makes me sad to see a place that I have loved for years and visited almost every weekend become what it is now. I don't think I'll be visiting this branch of The Bagelry again. Always tasty when I go here. They have a great assortment of freshly made bagels and spreads. They also serve nice breakfast bagel sandwiches. I enjoy the Pesto Bagel with the Tomato and Herb spread. They have great deals on day or two old bagels which still taste great. One of the best business moves The Bagelry has made was being able to accept credit/debit cards. For the longest time I would skip right over them because I didn't have cash with me or did not want to pull out twenty dollars to just buy one bagel. read more

I love the Bagelry and have been going to this location since '95. My favorite is Onion toasted with cream cheese though recently I have branched out to .. "The Cruz" on a toasted onion bagel. THe Cruz is Homemade Hummus with fresh tomatoes and sprouts. Excellent Bagels, super awesome evil cream cheese and lots of yummy spreads and combos. Solid bagel shop. Went here because it was on the list of dog friendly places recommended by our hotel. I found that it was more of strip mall setting and didn't bring the dog in (I was able to park in a spot by the door on a cool early morning). I like the atmosphere. Good service. Decent egg sandwiches. They use a microwave to cook their eggs but it's okay. This place basically gets the job done well enough to go back. Ahhhh, the Bagelry. Best bagels. They've been around for some time and for good reason. MMMM even just a plain bagel toasted w/cream cheese is delectable. They have tons of yummy (santa-cruz-y) combinations. And I almost always grab a "day old 1/2 dozen" and 2 + tubs of their cream cheese. OH GOODNESS. THE CREAM CHEESE. They obviously make their own. I come here allot on Sat. mornings to get a dozen or more bagels for my friends at Ocean Honda. The bagels are always fresh and great. The schmeres are awesome. I love the Date and Walnut schmere. The staff is friendly. There's always a line, so that has to tell you something! Their bagel sandwiches and fresh soups are a great alternative for lunch! read more

I love The Bagelry on Soquel Dr. I come here a couple times a year with my grandmother for brunch, and always order a lox deluxe (Huge piece of salmon, green onions, Capers, and a tomato) on a garlic bagel. I have tried few of their other spread, but the ones I had were good, and my Grandmother adores the place. The other reviews say the service was bad and the coffee is terrible, I have experienced neither of those things, and the Chi is to die for. I always try and bring friends from out of town here. I am so bummed out to leave this review but the last two times I have been here have been terrible. Last time that I came in, there was three people working on a Tuesday morning and two people came in behind me. Both of them got their bagel. I'm still waiting. More people come, still no bagel. Finally I point out that people behind me are getting served and I get rudely told I need to wait a minute while the girl behind the counter says something about losing my order. No one apologized or appeared to care - just annoyed I was there, apparently. Then today I came in assuming 20 minutes would be enough time to order a bagel to go. I was wrong! 9:05 on a Saturday morning, two people working. Quickly there's a line of 15 they are clearly not staffed to handle. 10 minutes to get to the register. Finally, I gave up told them to scratch my order and left with no bagel and two dollars spent with nothing to show. To be fair the kid was trying sooooo hard to move at light speed and offered to make it really quick without toasting it so he was trying his best and was nice. But whoever thought that one person on register and one person to make bagels on a Saturday morning was a good call missed the mark. read more

You kidding me? What is with these Santa Cruz cafe places charging stupid money for CRAPPY food!!!! I get a lox bagel $10 and its piled with tomatoes and capers. The lox was salty as hell! My bagel wasn't even toasted!!!! Not to mention ur buying a bagel that is half the size of any bagel I e ever seen at double the cost. As well as the people in this place!
